reading-screenplays-how-to-analyse-and-evaluate-film-scripts

Rate this book
Essential for script readers, development executives, and producers, this is also an incisive and effective how-to book for screenwriters, clearly illuminating the script assessment process for both story and craft Script readers are often responsible for determining whether a script is even looked at by a producer or development executive, yet those accountable for reading can be on the first rung of the industry ladder and have had little or no training for the task. This user-friendly guide lays bare the process of analyzing film scripts, and is invaluable to anyone looking to work as a script reader, anyone who wants to work in development with writers, and for screenwriters themselves who are seeking guidance on how the industry might respond to their work. With contributions from industry insiders, it includes information on how to write a brilliant script report, storytelling and screen genres, treatments and other short documents, writing clear and detailed analysis of the craft of storytelling for film, and best practice in reading and reporting on scripts. It also includes a full resource section listing useful print and online publications, organizations, and associations.

I found this book incredibly insightful and practical. It's definitely useful for more than just people wanting to develop a career in script reading. As a writer I found it such a helpful tool in understanding what makes up the elements of a good script.

This has to count towards my reading challenge! It’s a book. I read it. It can make up for all the scripts I’ve read this year that I can’t log!

Brimming with awesome advice and information. Occasionally a little convoluted in execution.

Derli toplu , net anlatım. Konu ile ilgilenenler mutlaka edinmesi gereken bir kitap. Khalkedon yayınevine özel teşekkür kitabı Türkçe ye kavuşturduğu için.

I was looking for a script-reading reference book, and this one did a great job breaking down exactly what goes into a report, treatment and even how to conduct yourself in development meetings. I'm just sorry it's dated and an older resource. A few websites in the back are no longer available as is the class in London for script readers through Lucy Scher. But if you want a script reading seminar in London, check out Bang2Write with Lucy Hay. Anyway--this was a good reference that I will continue to use and keep on the shelf.
