Colt Jackson She may have gotten away once before, but I’ll never let her out of my sight again. I’m going back to my shithole hometown to reclaim what I lost, to take that sweet innocent redhead and finally do everything I wanted to do to her ten years ago. Losing is part of the game…but so is fighting to the death for what you want. Riley Weston ‘The Quarterback and the Cocktail Waitress’…I can see the headlines now. But here he is in front of me, in all his beautiful 6’ 5’’ tall muscular glory… My legs start to tremble beneath me as I lock eyes with him. A warm rush of need spreads through my body, and it hits me all at once that this is happening. This is really happening… I’m about to strip down to the lacy bra and panties I bought especially for this occasion, go back out there, and give myself to the man who first taught me what pleasure was. A man I’ve wanted for years, but never dreamed of having again. A man whose cut body and godlike face have graced my most guarded fantasies more times than I’m willing to admit. A man who is many things… but certainly not my husband. I meet my own wild-eyed gaze in the mirror, barely recognizing myself. This is not the woman I’ve spent the better part of a decade trying to be. For years, I’ve done my best to be the perfect daughter, girlfriend, and finally, wife. I made a vow to be faithful to my husband, in good times and bad… no matter what sexy specters from my past happen to reappear. Don’t I owe it to my husband—and to myself—to keep those sacred promises? I would never have dreamed of sleeping around behind my husband’s back. But if he really didn’t want me to be with other men, he wouldn’t have made the callous offering of my body in the first place. He dashed our vows to pieces the moment he gave the man in the next room carte blanche to have his way with me—I’m just making good on his offer. After all, it’s not really cheating if your husband gives you permission, now is it? Quarterback Cuck is a Second Chance Sports Romance - Full Length - No Cliff
I'm Colleen Masters, author of the Faster Series. Thank you so much for swinging by and checking out my stories! As an indie romance author, your support means everything to me. Let me tell you a little bit about myself...
I grew up in Central Jersey, and studied Theatre Arts and English at Monmouth University. (Going to college right next to the beach? Hell yes :D) My dream has always been to make a profession out of writing, so I moved to NYC five years ago and have been working my butt off to make that dream come true ever since. Right now, I'm living on the Upper East Side with my darling fiancé and our corgi, Frodo. (Bit of a lit nerd, what can I say?) All of my friends get such a kick out of my "survival job," but I don't really see my writing as a day job at all--it's way too fun for that!
These books are truly a labor of love, and I'm so happy to share them with you. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
Ten long years seems a long time for a second chance at love. For Riley Weston, dutiful daughter and devoted wife, her current status in an unfulfilling marriage and life was dictated by a past tragedy. Riley has no idea that status is about to be upended by Colt Jackson. She’s never forgotten her high school sweetheart, the man she loved but could never have. Until his redemption tour, a tour to bolster his professional football career, takes him back to the small hometown in South Carolina.
Lawrence represents the happiest and saddest times in Colt Jackson’s life. He’s never forgotten Riley, the twin sister of his best friend, Beau, whose tragic passing forced a grieving Colt to leave town without any explanation. When Colt spies Riley at the highschool gym, he’s surprised to learn she never left town. She sacrificed not going to college to be with her parents. And as she was expected to, she eventually married a man she didn’t love. Colt is disgusted by Riley’s circumstances and her prick of a husband who carelessly gives permission to bed his wife. Colt is unbelieving of how unappreciated and disrespected Riley is by her her husband and undeserving parentis. Riley is still breathtakingly beautiful, kind hearted, and radiant. This time, Colt’s making Riley his, and never letting go.
Quarterback Cuck is a quick, surprisingly entertaining and enjoyable story. You think there is cheating, but when an uncaring and unappreciative husband throws his wife away to another man, all bets are off. Ms. Masters style is seamless bringing the past and the present together without flaw. With lots of emotion and love, Colt and Riley really come alive. I love the ending, these two belonged together, how much they were in love, and finally together, find happiness. I I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This story was not what I expected when I read the title and I was pleasantly surprised by that. Riley is in a miserable marriage to a miserable man, working while he sits around at home or at the bar. Colt left her behind when he went away after her brother's death and he never looked back. Now he has decided to rescue her from her sleaze of a husband and their chemistry is still off the charts. Maybe he'll finally get to do what he always wanted.
Enjoyable, quick read about forbidden childhood sweethearts getting a second chance at love.
Colt is a football superstar, back in his hometown to repair his public image. Riley never left and ended up married to someone else, who makes her life miserable.
Sexy and heartfelt, with flashbacks to the past to give us the couple's full history and a well-rounded story.
Riley always longed for the attention of her twin brother's best friend, Colt Jackson. Colt was the high school's star quarterback, but came from the wrong side of the tracks as far as the town was concerned, but Riley and her twin, Beau, saw past all of that. Colt has already run through all of the eligible girls in his class - apart from Riley - when he finally SEES her for the beautiful girl she is. Underneath the nerdy facade, Riley is drop dead gorgeous and actually understands him. She has always been his friend first, not a booty call, which meant everything to Colt. Circumstances happen, though, and Colt leaves town to become a huge NFL star and never hears from Riley again. Until one day, 10 years later, he goes nuts on a reporter. As part of his PR nightmare penance, his team is making him do a small town goodwill tour, starting with his old home town. Little does he realize that Riley never actually left town, but is married to a lazy, abusive jerk, remaining under the thumb of her nasty husband and her domineering parents. Will Colt ever get a second chance with the beauty he loved more than anything but left behind? Will she ever forgive him? A real page-turner - just HAD to find out what happens!
Quarterback Cuck by Colleen Masters ***** Really good! This story has many layers that touches on a boy who was looked down on by small-town people because of his dysfunctional family. But within this framework is a strong friendship between Colt and twins (Riley and Beau) next door. And teenage love, tragedy and loss, heartbreak and great fame. But also a bad marriage entered into, and continued, for all the wrong reasons. Then, a second chance and an ultimate HEA. So good! The writing was well done with excellent character development. I loved it! Disclosure: I received and am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book. (Comment: I did note some mistakes that are hopefully cleaned up in the final edits.)
I usually don't go for books with cheating in them and I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm glad I took the chance on this book by Colleen Masters. There is a lot emotions going on sadness, heartache, heartbreak, anger, abuse but most importantly a love that spans many many years and second chances to make it right. Riley and Colt were high school sweethearts but no one knew of their relationship and the one night that Colt was going to tell her brother, his best friend, a tragic turn of events happens. Now that Riley is a star QB he still thinks of Riley and when he goes back to his home town ten years later, the last person he expects to see is her. This time he is not giving up on her especially after he meets her husband and the verbally abusive person that he is. What follows is a beautiful story about remembering their past, forgiving the past and heartache, the sacrifices, the chance to do it right and for Riley to finally stand up for herself and do what she wants instead of what is expected of her. There may be even a few tears shed but in the end you can't but help and swoon over Colt and sigh a happy happy sigh for the two. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
I really enjoyed this story! While Riley might be married I didn't feel like she was really cheating on her husband. I'm sure it helped that he is a horrible guy. I was a little nervous regarding the cheating aspect of this story but I thought it was really well done and handled in the right way. I really loved Riley and Colt and wanted them to figure it out. As the book goes on, we get to see both past and present. The story is a good length and it kept me entertained and involved the whole time. I had to figure out what was going to happen next and how everything was going to work out. The sex is explicit and there is a lot of sexual tension/chemistry between Colt and Riley. They are both a little guarded when they meet again but they just can't keep those walls up for long. They are meant to be together and they just have a special connection. They have to work through some things, a horrible event that happened in their senior year that ended up being the cause of them not being together. The story flowed smoothly and had a great pace. There was more than enough to keep me attention. I had to know what was going to happen with the characters. I really loved this story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
I absolutely loved this story! I am not a fan at all of cheating but when dealing with an unhealthy, abusive relationship, I couldn't help but root for Riley to get her HEA with the love of her life. Colt and Riley were high school sweethearts who had to deal with several setbacks from the beginning but in the end, true love won. The chemistry and connection was amazing and the flow of the story was awesome. Did shed a few tears near the end...the heartbreak and loss that they suffered was tragic. Overall, great story, definitely a page turner...now I'm wishing for a longer epilogue, one showing even further into their future...I need more!
My first book by Colleen Masters and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is cheating in this book, but in my opinion it was completely justified and I am usually not a fan of cheating characters. I loved the flashbacks and the back story included in this book, so for even a quick read that this book is, you very much get a complete story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book
This second chance romance is absolutely believable and makes you wish for your own Prince Charming. This shows how a high school romance can grown and blossom even through adversity. I loved it!
copy received for honest review - 3.5 stars This was a quick read. A second chance at love story. I liked the story for the most part, but it was hard for me to like the female lead. I really didn't understand why she was with her husband. she could have stayed in town and been there for her parents without him. She was a doormat for too long. The cheating didn't bother me because her husband was such an idiot. He was a complete waste of space. Colt and Riley were high school secret lovers. They were separated for years following a tragedy that rocked their world. when given a second chance they jump on it. Colt does everything in his power to get Riley. We get small glimpses of his personality. Even with the cheating, you believe he is a good guy. They get their postponed happy ending.
All in all a very enjoyable read. Tense, suspenseful, full of troubles and very rocky. They go through a lot and through time work it out. They are a perfect fit but have a lot to go through before realizing it. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book WOW this book was great, totally not what I expected, Riley and Colt had a secret relationship while in high school, Colt was her twin brother Bryce's best friend but Riley had feelings for him forever, at first of course she loved him like a brother, they did grow up together but those changed as they both got older. This book has so much going for it from the small town rumor mills to the horrific tragedy to Colt leaving and breaking Riley's heart. fast foward 10 years and OMG what is going on with both Colt who is now an NFL superstar quarterback who has gotten into alot of trouble due to a twitter/social media issue. and Riley who is barely getting by with a crappy marriage and working as a cocktail waitress. When Riley's husband finds out his idol Colt is coming back to their small town he forces Riley to go to the meet and greet, You will think oh no cheating but NOPE not when you read the whole book, After what Riley's worm of a husband does. and the fact that Riley and Colt never lost their feelings for each other this is a great great read!
4* Riley's brother beau's best friend & her ex secret boyfriend colt has returned home to make up for loosing his temper & destroying a reporters equipment he's a famous quarterback. Rileys life has changed her husband is a slob & doesn't deserve her but will she realise it before it's too late? Can they both get over the past hurts? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Lovely story.
Bittersweet, second-chance love story, April 12, 2017
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Quarterback Cuck written by Colleen Masters and voluntarily reviewed this book. Montana Rockies quarterback Colt Jackson was placed on a mandatory apology PR tour to make up for his much-publicized Twitter nightmare, beginning the first leg in the small town where he grew up and left behind to pursue his career. The only thing he regrets leaving behind ten years ago is Rylie Weston, twin sister to his best friend.
Riley pictured a totally different future for herself, alongside someone who did not turn out to be her husband. Seeing Colt again, now no longer looked down upon by the townsfolk, brought back many memories, both good and bad. When Colt sees Riley again and meets her husband, he realizes that she deserves something better than her lot in life, and later tosses her husband a challenge to prove his "ownership" of Riley. Taking stock of how her husband has been treating her ever since their wedding, and finally heeding that voice in her head, Riley can't help but take advantage of his generous offer and secretly meets with Colt during the rest of his two-week tour in town. Together they deal with the memories which had propelled them to the major crossroads leading them to separate, but is this enough for them to reach for more than what they have right now?
I really enjoyed this storyline, complete with characters that were well developed as well as circumstances which actually seemed quite plausible, and good epilogues in both POVs. I look forward to more stories from this author ;-D
Loved this book.I was sucked right in. We all remember our first crush . Some stronger than others. The childhood memories, songs, games and school. Your friends and crushes all those memories come back. This author did a great job of making you go back to your high school years and pulling you in the story. It would be hard hiding being in love with your best friends sister. Cole had a hard life, the best parts of his life were Beau his best friend and Riley his twin. Riley and Cole wanted out of there small town. Life doesn't always work the way we want out too. I sat an read this book saying just one more chapter and it became 4 am. I'm not disappointed at all. I don't think I've read any books by this author but I definitely will look for more.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. Riley and Colt knew each other from the past. A tragedy caused them to go their separate ways. They reunite, but Riley is married. Her husband is a bully and offers Colt the chance to sleep with his wife. Riley goes through with it. Some will call it cheating, but others will say the husband offered her up. Either way, it's a work of fiction and it's nice to indulge in the taboo a little (even if it's just through reading). I liked Riley and Colt together. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Pretty good story. I wouldn't consider it a sports romance though because sports are not involved the hero, Colt, just happens to be a quarterback and this story takes place off-season. I enjoyed reading about these childhood sweethearts and how that are able to reconnect. The story switches back and forth to provide history and clarity. Very realistic story because it is truly amazing how people hate you then conveniently forget how bad they treated because now they love who you've become. Happy for Colt and his strength to rise above it all. I didn't care for the fact that she is married though, yes her husband is a jerk but still.
Colt Jackson thought he left his hometown of Lawrence, South Carolina in his past for good, but when a twitter scandal prompts a PR apology tour he finds himself back where it all began. Riley Weston had dreams of a future outside of Lawrence, but life has a way of ruining plans. The last person Colt expects to run into during his trip is his ex and her verbally abusive husband. Colt is determined to win back Riley and show her that she’s meant to be with him. Quarterback Cuck is a sweet and steamy story about second chances and forgiveness.
This was a quick read, but a wonderful second chance story. I just wanted to hug the characters reading this and I liked had Colleen brought the characters back together to give them that second chance.
Thus is an intense second chance love story. It's sad, romantic and dramatic. Colt and Riley were high school sweethearts who had planned to always be together, until life took a wrong turn. Ten years later Colt sees Riley and realizes that he still loves her and now wants her, but she's married. Colt is a very sweet, romantic and likable guy. Riley is a beaten down, heartbroken girl with low self-esteem. It's an interesting and entertaining story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hearts Collective. This is my voluntary and honest opinion of it.
This is a fast paced read with lots of drama and emotion. Colt and Riley were high school sweethearts and now ten years later, Riley is married to another and Colt is back in town on a PR apology tour. Can these two find a way to reunite? Great chemistry and an entertaining story. I really liked it.
This was a second chance romance that surprised me in many ways and was different from what I expected. ‘Quarterback Cuck’ by Colleen Masters is a tale of the small town young sweet hearts that go in opposite directions and life brings them back together years later. This was a 3.5 star read for me.
Riley is married and not to the man who she had always imagined it to be so when the man who left returns to town thoughts and feelings are brought up again. Her brother’s best friend has returned to their small town in a bid to deal with some bad PR but he stirs up old feelings in Riley.
When Colt sees Riley he soon realises what he left behind and his feelings for her have never really left him. He finds it difficult to see her with her husband and he knows that she deserves so much more and he wants to give her that.
Quite a good read that flips through present and past in order for you to grasp the story behind Colt and Riley to allow for an understanding of what has transpired. An enjoyable read and will definitely read more by Colleen Masters.
What a great forbidden love/second chance romance. Riley and Colt grew up together as next door neighbors. She was the shy, quiet, study-nerd type and he was the high school star quarterback and town bad boy because of his home life. Their romance was young and magical yet forbidden and kept hidden. Not only because of her parent’s distaste of Colt, but also because Colt was her twin brother’s best friend. When tragedy strikes, their world his shattered and they are ripped apart.
Ten years later, Colt is a quarterback all-star forced to return to his hometown to start a PR apology tour after an unflattering Twitter scandal. While there, he runs into his first and only true love. Leaving her was the hardest thing he ever had to do.
Riley is filled with emotion knowing she will see Colt again. She loved him with all her heart, yet when she needed him the most, he left. Now, she is married to a verbally abusive husband and is miserable, her life so far from where she thought she would be.
Trying to impress his friends, Riley’s husband offers her up to Colt and demands she sleep with him. Riley is furious, ashamed, and embarrassed he would publically humiliate her like that.
What happens when Colt steps in and shows her exactly how much he values her, how much he respects and cherishes her? All the feelings from so long ago are still there and as strong as ever. Can they repair what was broken after the tragedy that tore them apart?
OMG I loved this book! This is a heartfelt, steamy, emotional tale about forgiveness and second chances with all the feels. The story is told in present tense with flashes from the past that fill in their history perfectly and weren’t confusing. Everything flowed smoothly and with a great pace, the characters were complex and the storyline was very plausible.
