A wild Northern Ice Dragon and the girl who raised him save the life of a fierce, shapeshifting royal black dragon, only to have him save them in return with his love.
Third book in the Dragon Knights series.
When a royal black dragon falls under enemy fire, only the wild Northern Ice Dragon and his unlikely female rider can save him. Half wild, like the baby Ice Dragon she calls friend, Lana is a rare and powerful dragon healer. She saves the life of the royal black, only to learn this most sacred of dragons is half-man, able to shift from one form to the other at will. Roland is king of all dragons and humans in his land but he's far from home, mortally wounded, and his only refuge is the incredible woman who has saved his life and her young wild dragon friend. Lana is the purest form of magic to him, heaven to his senses in both dragon and human form. He knows almost from the first moment that he wants her for his very own. But a warlord plots in the north, seeking to kill the dragons, who protect the northern border, and overrun Roland's peaceful kingdom. Lana and her incredibly skilled Ice Dragon friend are the only ray of hope for the knights and fighting dragons of the Northern Lair. Just as Lana is the only love Roland will ever know. He can reunite her with her lost family, but can he win her heart and make her his queen?
Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex explained in graphic terms.
Bianca D'Arc is the USA Today bestselling author of over 100 romance titles. She has been published traditionally, by a few notable small presses, and indie. Before becoming a full-time writer, she ran a laboratory, a legal department, and jetted around the country on business while working for a Fortune 500 engineering firm.
Bianca D’Arc delivers yet another stellar story in the Dragon Knights series. But this time, it’s a little different. Instead of the Dragon Knights finding their one true love, the elite black dragon is now finding his happily ever after. You know what that means? There’s no permanent threesome. However, this fact doesn’t make the book feel lacking. In fact, I loved it even more!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. D’Arc continues to create an elaborate world for her dragons and their caretakers. The writing has a fairy tale feel to it that I think adds to the whole ambiance The story starts off with Lana as a slave for her enemy and an abandoned dragon egg. Lana discovers that she has the unique ability to speak to the little dragon inside the egg when she touches it. As it grows, she and the dragon can communicate without touch. When the dragon finally hatches from the egg, Lana fears that she will be used as food, but instead the dragon has forged a bond with her that is now unbreakable.
As they escape their enemies, Lana soon finds out that her dragon must be an Ice Dragon, a rare breed amongst dragonkind. They hide but one day, the ice dragon named Lor stumbles upon a much smaller, black dragon who has been badly injured. Lor helps this black dragon and brings him to their home where Lana can heal him. But they are oblivious to the black dragon’s true identity.
This book brought forth a lot of sweet emotions. While I adored Lana and Roland, I think for me Lor was my favorite character. He was so sweet and kind and I loved the bond that he and Lana shared. It’s nice to see a different type of love be explored.
That is not to say that Roland is outshined. I really enjoyed him as well. D’Arc weaves great characters into this intricate world and with all the politics on the side, I really believe that readers who enjoy dragons and erotica romance will find the perfect fit with the Dragon Knights series.
Though this book is book 3 in the series, it helps that you read the books in order to understand the connections between characters. It will only enhance the reading experience and make for a bigger, better thrill ride!
I LOVED this book. This is the 3rd tale in D-Arc's Dragon Knights series. I enjoyed the first two stories (in "Ladies of the Lair") that I ordered this one and the next "Prince of Spies" immediately after finishing the first book! Hot heroes with gutsy heroines and really steamy sex!!
Lana is a slave. She was taken from her family as a child and has ended up serving a very evil warlord. When the warlord steals a dragon egg, he assigns Lana to keep the egg warm. Lana is surprised to find out she can talk to the egg and develops a mothering attitude towards it. When the dragonet is born, it bonds to her as its mother. Once the dragon is big enough they escape. While hiding out, they save a black dragon and Lana heals it.
Roland is king of the dragons. Only the royal lineage can change from man to dragon. His own over-confidence got him injured and he considers his saviors gifts from the mother Goddess. It doesn't take him long to realize Lana is The One for him. But can she accept the man as well as the dragon? The king as well as the man?
I enjoyed the touching relationships between both Lana and her dragon and Lana and Roland. Although Roland is definately an Alpha, he was so caring of her innocence and naivety. I plan to re-read this book tonight because I enjoyed it so much!!
Blah blah blah blah dragon war blah sweet mother of all blah blah dragon king sex blah blah
Gets 3 stars because I’m vaguely invested in this weird family and for making the sex scenes a bit fresher with some voyeurism. Cuz friend they were getting stale.
Rating: 3 simpering virgin princesses out of 5 wounded dragon kings
In this third installment of the Dragon Knights-Series the story of Lana and her baby Ice-Dragon Tor is told. Lana is a slave at the court of the northern warlord Salomar and is consigned with the task to care for a dragon egg which has Salomar´s evil witch Loralie stolen from it´s dragon mother. When Lana discovers that she´s able to communicate in her mind with the dragon they don´t tell anybody and flee from Salomar when the young dragon is old enough. Salomar haunts them of course because he wants his dragon back and take revenge on Lana but so far both could avoid to be caught and fight against him and his men at every opportunity. When they rescue a mysterious Black Dragon from Salomar and his men life for Lana and Tor will change forever. The Black Dragon promises them to take them with him to Draconia where Tor could live in peace among other dragons. What Lana doesn´t know is that the Black Dragon is Roland the shape-shifting king of Draconia who has recognized Lana as his future queen... The Dragon Knights-Series gets better and better with every installment! The world and their protagonists (either good or evil) are fascinating and we learn more about the politics and pending war with Skithdron and it´s insane king Lucan. The witch Loralie is a very dubios character and she seems to have an agenda of her own. Step by step more secrets are revealed which only makes me more curious for the next book! The love story again is very hot and steamy – be sure to have a cold drink somewhere near you when reading this book!
It was still repetitive for the first half of it, but it felt LESS repetitive than the previous ones. And there was slightly less 'omg, everything about this person is beautiful and perfect' (yes, there was still some of that, but it was less annoying)
I liked Roland.. though since it had been a little while, at first I had gotten him confused with his brother Nico.
The twist later was cool, and I had briefly wondered if something like that was going to happen. I am actually glad it did. I didn't feel like it was just thrown in because the author wanted to change things up. It made sense, and it worked.
I read somewhere in another review that this book felt like bad fan fiction, and i’m inclined to believe them. The dialogue was so awkward, I kept cringing at their conversation and it reminded me of the script for a really bad movie with even bad actors. The relationship between the two main characters felt too easy and while i’m a fan of insta-love stories, I know that the authors are intending that type of fast connection. This book was just bad story development and even more confusing relationship development. I remember enjoying the author a few years ago, so i’ll attempt another one of her books some day, but as of right now i’m not sure I’ll enjoy any more of these types of books.
I really liked this until they took her and Tor to be with others. Then it got really bad really fast. I didn't finish this one, it felt like the author was treating the reader a little on the incompetent side. Everything was explained in a way that felt textbook like. I didn't care for that. Also, everyone treated Lana like that as well, It felt very one-dimensional overall...well at least up to 60ish% that's where I stopped. It started giving me a headache, so I put it down and came back to it later, same thing. didn't even make it to 70%.
I'm being generous with my 2. I'm about halfway done with it and I can't even guarantee I'll finish it. Lana is a slave who has no trauma as a result. She is a great and wonderful character and everyone loves her. Everyone is trusted so quickly.
There has not been an ounce of conflict in this entire thing except, oh my god he's hurt! He's on the verge of death thank goodness I saved him. Wow. That was intense.
From the first two books we were introduced to Adora and her daughter and learned that there are a set of Royal twin sisters lost out in the wide world. We also learned of an ongoing conflict with Skithdron that boiled over into war.
This book brings us into the Northland where Lucan’s ally resides. Plus we learn what has happened to the one twin, Lana or aka Alania, since her kidnapping.
Lana has mother-bonded to a powerful and rare Northern Ice dragon and has grown into a fine, strong warrior. She even proves herself multiple times throughout the book.
Her mate turns out to be Draconia’s one and only king, Roland. So here’s where the book lost a star for me. Roland knows Lana is his mate and that she’s innocent and has trust issues, but he is not really patient with her and takes her as soon as he’s strong enough to shift. To me this was a bit much. He is very possessive one minute and not the next. Plus a lot of thoughts kept repeating over and over throughout.
We do get to meet more of the Royal black dragons. Plus the characters from books 1 and 2 do make appearances. And the roles I thought were brushed off before get more formalized at the end here a bit.
Tor was the cutest thing ever and the dragons and their personalities are my favorite part of this entire series.
A m/f dragon shifter fantasy romance with lots of connecting stories. Characters and plot overlap so recommended to read in order. More political intrigue than in previous books.
Multiple pics told in third person

I am loving this series. Your writing is great and the descriptions are just detailed enough to not be overdone. My only issue is the price. Pretty short books for being 4.99 and 5.99. I will probably only read #4 since I bought it already and I want to see what happens to Nico and Riki but I can't afford to read more. I could spend 6.99 to 7.99 on a paperback at the store and it would take me a lot longer to read. 8-10hrs but these books take me 2-4 hrs. And she didn't have to pay any printing cost herself. I understand the need to make a living as an author and I respect it. But I just can't do it anymore. I do recommend this book. -Dink
It was okay. I liked the premise of the overall story so I wanted to know what happened next. The story is repetitive in places and may pull a few eyerolls from you. I did like Tor and I'm curious about a twist that happened. Not a fan of all the adult scenes but I do want to know what happens next.
Sweet baby dragon, one of the lost twins, who was put into slavery to be food for baby ice dragon Tor. Instead they form a wonderful bond. They end up saving Roland's life. Several suprises. While there is voyeurism and there is no ménage.

This story takes you to the far north. A frozen territory with rough around the edges kind of people. There are many new things to discover and learn about. I really enjoyed the read.
Dragon version of cinderella...a self greed slave finds she's a princess...baby dragonet, strong knight dragon...lots of sex...love and lust and derring do
Tenía tanto potencial, con los personajes, los escenarios, los dragones, pero todo giraba en torno al sexo, me hubiera gustado que girara en torno a una trama, pero este libro no la tiene.
4 stars! This is a sweet and positive and romantic story between a slave girl-healer and a black dragon who has a secret identity.
I was looking for a dragon romance to read for a challenge, and came across this one and was intrigued by the beautiful cover. Then i went to the author's website and read an excerpt and was captivated by the story.
Alania is a slave girl who is thrown into a cage with a huge dragon egg that is about to hatch. Salomar is evil and wants to have a dragon to try out his weaponry on to defeat dragons, and the slave girl is intended to be the dragon's first meal. Alania helps keep the egg incubating and warm, and when she brushes against the smooth surface of the egg, she is startled to hear the voice of the young dragonet in her mind. She can communicate with it! The young dragonet is named Tor and thinks Alania is his mommy, and has a lot of questions. Tor is adorable and cute and when he hatches, his scales are a shimmery iridescent ice like color, very unique and rare! Needless to say, the young dragonet is hungry but instead of eating Alania/Lana, he eats the many dogs around Salomar who dare get close to the cage. Since Salomar doesn't have the patience to take care of the dragon, he assigns Alania to be its caretaker/caregiver.
One day when Tor and his dragon-rider Alania are flying around, they find a wounded small black dragon. Alania learned to heal Tor's many wounds that he would get when Salomar was trying out his weaponry on him, and later on, they escaped Salomar's lair. Tor has never met another dragon, but he knows how to fly underneath the black dragon to fly the both of them to safety. Alania is able to heal the 3 large wounds on the black dragon's body where Salomar's bolts pierced his tough scales.
Thus begins the relationship between the black dragon, Alania and Tor. The black dragon has a secret identity and is older and more experienced than Tor, who has only 5 winters, and in gratitude for his life, he promises Alania and Tor a better safe life with him in his lair...which they must travel to, quite a ways away.
Alania cuddles underneath the wings of the black dragon when they are high in the mountains, and she begins to trust him. The black dragon knows Alania is very special, and that she may actually be of royal blood, as she has special powers. The black dragon desires Alania in a very human way, however, and soon he will reveal his true shapeshifting identity to her so they can be together.
The rest of the story deals with Alania and Tor's adjustment to the lair of the Black Dragon, Roland, and learning the new culture of the Knights-Dragons and then having a battle against Salomar. There are some hot love scenes between Roland and Alania. Alania also has a very special power that makes her even more suited to be Roland's equal. Some other secondary characters are introduced and Alania has a happy homecoming.
This was a wonderful, sweet, and happy fantasy romance about dragons!

Lana is a rare, powerful dragon healer who has rescued an uncommon ice dragon, Tor. She and Tor escape from the Northern king who has them enslaved and who has also no knowledge of her gift. After rescuing the black dragon, she does not expect so many surprises like his shape-shifting, a possible family and a land where dragons are partners with humans.
Roland is the king of the dragons who can shape-shift into black dragon. He does not expect to be wounded so badly while reconnoitering up north. Lana and Tor finding him is a blessing. Finding a rare dragon healer whom he is attracted to no matter her innocence is not expected either. The possibility Lana is his mate is just one of the things he will gain from meeting her.
Lana and Tor work to share their knowledge of the Northern Army's tactics and weapons with the others. Being raised as a slave makes it hard to believe Roland is the king and she a princess. She gets the opportunity to learn more about her healing gift. The Northern Army has to be defeated, so Roland also has to convince Lana she is good enough to be his mate and queen.
This was a fairy tale like story with not much to worry about beyond the romance. It is a read that has steamy sex scenes, an element of fantasy, and woven with drama told in a way that is not too complicated to read. The world Ms. D’Arc wove with the dragon knights, and their customs mixed with the romance between the two was enjoyable and fascinating to read.

Is it too much to ask for a little more fantasy, action and plot and less rushed romance? 'Cause I didn't much care for these main character's romance. In fact I don't even consider it a romance. They met and a woman previously known for being wild and sure suddenly transforms into a whiny child with an inferiority complex. And Roland? Yeah, he's a king. Does that also mean he needs to be so self-centered all the time? 'Cause talking is easy. Can't exactly be said he doesn't talk about his feelings for her. His "I love you" after a few days...wow. Just, heartfelt. Totally believable. Worse is that she suddenly loves him too even after spending years as a slave being mentally abused my men. Again, totally believable! And the battles? Pftt. Just a pretext for one of them to rush in, save the day and prove their love for one another. Blah. I had really high hopes. I didn't read the others of the series so I was erroneously thinking this was a fantasy novel with a smidgen of romance to balance things out. Turns out this is erotica with a sprinkle of dragons instead. Nothing against those kind of novels either. They're great. Guilty pleasures all around. But this novel seems torn between genres and ends up doing justice to neither.
2.5 ★
**PS: That sex scene just before the end? With some elements of BDSM? Yeah. A little warning would be lovely. Not my cup of tea and definitely not something I'd pick if I'd known about it.

This book can be read alone or as the third book in the series - it's a tale of a slave girl, an orphaned dragon she mother-bonds with and a king in his dragon form who is rescued by Lana and Tor. Roland is both black dragon and man but he's brought down by new weapons when he's checking out rumors of invaders who are interested in taking over his kingdom. Tor's life is covered from the time he's in his egg to when he's a glorious, huge five year old ice dragon with a huge heart that is filled with kindness, despite all the trials he's had. This is a very good series and I do enjoy this book each time I read it. The only reason it's not rated higher is some of the dialogue seems a bit stilted (Of course, that is partly due to a five year old being involved), but the emotions are marvelous! I wish all rulers were as even-handed and protective as Roland!
