Working for the Weavers Guild, Dehlia has gained a measure of respect and dignity in her work as an empathic Spinner. Her yarns, and the emotions trapped within them are sold for a high price. So is she. Waking up on a pirate ship is startling enough, but waking with an elf in her lap is beyond what a normal Terran in space could imagine. Taneus has traveled far to find her and free her, but she will be bound to him in more ways than she can imagine when he is done with her.
Taneus the "Elf" sounds like Legolas from Lord of the Rings... Yum! I liked that Dehlia was able to take care of herself with her yarn skills but with the short length of the book, the romance is more of insta-lust than anything else.
Dehla is a Weaver who can spin emotions into her threads and weave them into the cloth she makes. Taneus is an Elf of Admar, who is awakened by Delia’s psychic presence. Getting her and her talented psychic fellow captives off the slave shio they’re on is top priority - after crazy good love making. The weaving emotions thing is a hilariously effective weapon, and the snarky repartee between Dehlia and Taneus is a good counterbalance to the ever-increasing threat of slavery.
Ok, I'm going to say right away--I really loved the spinning aspect of this story. Once upon a time, many thousands of years ago (ok, a couple of decades) I learned to spin for an anthropology class. While I no longer do it, I still enjoy the thoughts of someday maybe taking it back up.
This story had some humour in it, as well as the requisite hea. This author does a good job with her short stories, and is enjoyable to read.
