She wanted vengeance. He didn't want a wife. One bite changed everything…

Maria Ravensford is a woman on a mission. A mission of vengeance. Determined to avenge the death of her young sister at the hands of Rogue vampires, the petite Dhampir takes to the streets to hunt them.

Unfortunately things don't go precisely to plan and it's only the arrival of Marak, a darkly handsome vampire Warrior, that saves her life. Trouble is, the bite that saves her life also takes her fully into the world of the Kyn…where Marak is waiting to claim her.

This novella has a kick-ass half vampire heroine determined to get revenge on the crazed rogue vampires who killed her sister, a protective hero who is a prince of the vampire warrior race, lots of action and romance. Within a few pages I realised this book reminded me of the The Black Dagger Brotherhood, but the excellent potential and promising beginning gave way to a disappointing hypocritical hero, a heroine with serious self-esteem issues, contrived overly dramatic misunderstanding, followed by a quick forgiveness for the offending hero and a wedding all at the same time! I was seriously disappointed. I wish the story had been longer with more focus on plot and character development because it had the potential to be an amazing new paranormal series.

As someone who has only recently discovered this author I wanted to try a Vampire story by her and admit I had slight reservations as not all reviews seemed positive. That being said I do believe that we all look for different things when we read so I felt I should see for myself.
Essentially we have a heroine Maria, who lives in the Vampire world but is half human. Not a problem for her family as she's very much loved but for their society as a whole Maria isn't exactly welcomed with open arms. She doesn't care that romance and love isn't on the horizon though as Maria is determined to kill as many Rogues as possible following on from their slaughter of her younger sister.
Marak is King but more importantly he is a Warrior and won't pussy foot around when his Council try to control him. He knows he should marry and leave heirs but no woman has yet captured his attention enough. Things get very complicated though when he finds a small human woman fighting a Rogue. Maria has no idea what trouble she is in but Marak cannot stand by and watch her perish so agrees to help train her but this couple both keep secrets from each other that will unfortunately come out.
Well I enjoyed this and admittedly its short but definitely whisked me away from reality. I've seen comments that it resembles BDB but to me it had echoes of The Breed. However it's a romance that doesn't rush too much with a sweet and sexy ending and that's exactly what I wanted.

I liked my first Mina Carter read, but I felt there was possibly a Black Dagger Brotherhood inspired story within and maybe a little too rushed the ending. I did enjoy Blood Vow.

Ohhhhh yeah this was good, just the other day I was saying I can't get into a Vampire story latly and here Ms. Mina sends this rewritten book of the Kyn. Oh wait it's rewritten, with extra extraordinary pieces added and I know for a fact it is rewritten with extra pieces because I read the first one and right away I read the second one that she just wrote, the add on is so intense, so powerful, this book is exceptional, you just have to read it.
Maria Ravensford is a tiny five foot nothing Dhampir which is half Vampire, half Kyn. They were protected as  if they were full blooded Kyn women. But daddy want her to marry and was trying to talk her into one of the Warriors. Maria knew, she heard it many times before, No one wanted a half breed freak. But as Maria was a sweet Kyn Lady to daddy, at night she was going to be a Rogue killer. She had to kill every Rogue she could to revenge her sister Bella, they sucked her dry, God knows what else they killed her. Maria started training with a Warrior on the sly, or so she thought. But what was worse than that she thought she was ready to go out by herself, turns out to be a big mistake.
Lord Elsveth leader of the Lord's Council said Marak the King, who has stolen Mikal name, needed a heir therefore a mate. Marak, sixth monarch of the Kyn was being told to mate how dare they he was king. Filled with rage Marak goes looking for rogues after all he is a Warrior. What he sees in an alley changes his life forever ofcoarse it takes him awhile to figure that out. Almost costing him what he's been looking his whole life.
A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Blood Vow by Mina Carter
Genres; Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Suspense
4.5 Stars

I really enjoyed this story. Every Mina Carter short story I have read always leaves me satisfied. This one is actually a longer reviesed edition. Mine is the kindle edition and on Amazon it says 164 pages. On GR is says 93 pages. I believe the truth is closer to 160. It definitly was longer than 93.
With very few words she has painted a vibrant picture of her characters and their world. You are quickly captivated. The flow is smooth. The story fast paced.
There is suspense with the rogue situation. Maria gets herself into a few dangerous situations in her insistance to hunt them. However, she proves herself a strong female and I really liked her.
The relationship between Maria and Marak is fun and has some humor interspersed.
The romance is adult. Hot and steamy.
My only negative would be one small section that dealt with Marak after he found out who Maria really is. I felt it took points away from Marak's character.
With Ms. Carter you are always guarnteed at the least a HFN. This one gave us an HEA and the beginnings of what looks like a great series.

Blood Vow was a good little story. As a fan of paranormal romance stories, this was a book right down my alley. I loved the vampire hunting vampire aspect. The king fighting on the front line was a nice touch too. I did feel like the world could have been expanded on. I was curious about if her sister, Bell, mate went blood rage as there was a mention that the rogue vampires killed those halflings just so their mates would be one step closer to becoming rogues. Anyway, this was a quick read for me. A good story that I wanted more of.

It reads quite well and has a little bit of everything, it is perfect for someone who is just starting to read this genre. For me, who read a lot of vampire books back in the day, I didn't see anything different in this story.

I definitely saw the potential here. Maria is a half-vampire and therefore "less" in vampire society and not likely to get a mate for love or anything. That's okay because she's set on avenging the death of her little sister - so she goes out hunting Rogue vampires, who were responsible. She runs into trouble, realizing that she's unprepared for this kind of thing. She manages to be rescued by Marak, King of the Vampires and a Warrior, but he lies to her and tells her he's someone else. He agrees to train this woman that he believes is human (but must be more given her strength and speed). But still she goes out on her own and this time trouble almost kills her. Marak, unable to let her die, converts her (he thinks human to vampire but actually she becomes "full vampire" instead of just half). They shag like bunnies now that they can be together and love each other forever. But then he finds out that she'd lied to him. He overreacts and we have separation angst. He realizes what an idiot he's been and goes off to marry his girl.

So I liked Maria and the fact that she's set on a goal and bound and determined to reach for it, whether Marak gets in her way or not. In the grand scheme of things, her lie, that she's a half-vampire, instead of full, is a drop in the bucket. It's nothing. And the whole "betrothal" thing didn't really happen, though I have to wonder why Maria wasn't a bit more assertive in her desire to not marry the guy. Seemed a slight change in personality there. Marak's overreaction is kind of what kills the story for me...not that it's bad, I liked the angst that it created, but it definitely dropped it in stars. Here's Marak who believed that Maria was a gold-digger who got herself close to the King of Vampires so she could marry up in the world. Nevermind the fact that she didn't even know his real name, or that she'd nearly died twice "getting close to him" or that in doing so she would have taken the chance that he'd leave her to bleed out on the street... No, man is paranoid and believes all of that was a scheme. So he kicks her out and brutally bashes her heart. Well, all of this would have worked for me if there'd been more of a reason for him to think so. Maybe some woman brutally bashed his heart in and he has a major overreaction, that I could believe, but for an average, unaffected guy to just jump to those conclusions makes him a little strange. And then his sudden "forgiveness" was way too sudden. And then boom. The end. I see that this author writes short novella-length stories that are pretty good on the whole, but that length restriction hurts the plot a bit and it feels like things happen way too quickly or motivations don't get fully fleshed out. Still a fun read, but this author has the talent to pull off a longer, more complex story and the more I read of her, the more I find myself wanting it.

Maria is looking for revenge. She has decided to hunt the dangerous streets for rogue vampires. The same type of vampire that killed her sister, who was a half-breed like her. Only, she meets Marak, a warrior vampire fighting against the rogues. They have an immediate pull toward one another, and he agrees to train her to kill rogues.

The set-up is great. The idea is great. I only wish Maria had held onto her ambitions to kill rogues. Her need for revenge kind of peters out when she realizes how much she likes Marak, who lies about who he is by giving her a different name. His friend's name. Why his friend's name?

Also, Maria is fighting against the patriarchy of the vampire kind. The males always protect the females, who are supposed to stay locked away, safe and bored. She doesn't want this in the least, to be someone's "little woman".

(SPOILER ALERT) So..she loses sight of her mission to avenge her sister. It's more important to be Marak's soulmate. Marak's nickname for her is "Little One", which I find degrading and a little creepy. Is she a child or a fully grown equal? And the difference between their heights is constantly referenced, which constantly gave me images of a tiny person with a giant. As a short woman who has dated taller men in the past, believe me, it never turned me into the size of a yard gnome. In the end, she gets married, so she really becomes Marak's little woman. (END SPOILER ALERT)

The writing is wonderful. The storyline has such potential! I'm just not sure I can overlook Maria's lackluster attitude for being a modern woman avenging her sister. Would I give the second book in the series a try? Maybe. I'm always up for redemption.

Mina Carter’s newest release oh so does it for me. I read it in one sitting being a
short great and great read. I liked the fact the story wasn’t long and drawn out
And just enough story, detail and personality to catch and keep my attention.

The story moves pretty fast as a halfling female is set out on revenge and out for rogue blood.
Her father would rather see her settle and married, but that because of her blood that may not happen. No one wants a half-breed.

The King a Vampire breed known as Kyn, huge gorgeous and more than a bit stubborn, he and his crew spends most nights out in the dark streets making it safe for Kyn and human kind. He’s been told he needs to marry and get an heir and he’s determined to find his own mate.

Brash and stubborn, sassy and quirky. Scenes to make you fan your face and want to jump in the fight and help. I loved it! I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC from the author.

Good

Enjoyable book. Good storyline and characters could be a bit more detailed through. And more details to the city they live in, more human involvement with some good monologues to get a better development of the storyline, just a bit more input about the race of the vampires and warriors.

I decided to let the wolves rest for a spell and read about the vamps...just for a day or two!

Dhampir, or half human and half Kyn vampire, Anamaria Ravensford lost her baby sister to rogue vampires and is on a mission to rid the world of every single one of them. What she lacks in skill, she makes up for in sheer determination though she might get herself killed. Maria hunts the streets each night looking for rogues to kill and escape the reality that she may have to wed Verran, one of her father's knights, as no one else would want a half-breed. Thrilled with her first kill, she runs into the famous Kyn Warriors and the King of Kyn himself, Marak.

The Council has advised King Marak he needs a bride. Marak doesn't fancy any of the "gold diggers" that are trying to win the favor of the king. Out on patrol with the Kyn Warriors, Marak is instantly attracted and impressed when he and Kalen stumble upon a human killing a rogue. Marak knows it just a matter of time before the little human gets herself killed so he decides to take her under his wing and train her after a bit of begging and a sob story about her sister's murder. Maria realizes her victory the night before had been a fluke. Maria asks Marak what he wants in exchange for training. Just a kiss is his reply. Maria agrees and kisses him and Marak is lost to her with visions of what could be. Instead of telling her he is Marak, King of the Kyn, he tells her his name is Mikal and Maria is content to let Mikal believe she is human. What tangled webs we weave...

Maria is attacked and Marak has to save her with his bite and convert her and make her his. Maria wakes to find that she is Dhampir no more and in Marak's bed. Marak and Maria come together and it seems they are headed for their HEA until a few days later when Marak is out on patrol and runs into the Knights of the House of Ravensford and Verran, Maria's intended. Marak believes Maria to be a gold digger and storms back to his house and effectively tosses Maria out, before noticing the bonding marks on her wrists...Maria and Marak are bond-mates. Maria believes Marak has only just found out she was Dhamphir and flees from his room as requested but not before learning he is King Marak and not Mikal.

Heartbroken and numb, Maria returns home and agrees to marry Verran though she knows she will never love him. Verran is quick to offer comfort with his words: "So, your bonded was an a$$ and didn't want you? That just means he was a f**king a$$hole...Being a half-breed does not make you any less worthy, not by a long shot." Verran knows Maria doesn't love him but is still willing to take care of her.

Fast forward to Verran and Maria's wedding day when Kalen tells Marak Maria is his distant, distant, barely related cousin and would he like to be his plus one at the wedding. The wedding turns out to be more exciting than the people of Ravensford expected when fireworks ensue at the altar.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

My rating is 4.4 stars.

I have a strong appreciation for this author and the vivid characters she has fashioned throughout the books I've explored. Each character is intricately crafted, with flaws that often prevent them from trusting those around them, adding layers of complexity to their interactions. The universe they inhabit is somewhat ambiguous, lacking the depth and clarity I would prefer, but I remain hopeful that as the series unfolds, it will become more richly detailed and fully realized, drawing me further into its captivating narrative.

He’s the king, and his patience has worn thin. Seething with fury over the Elder Council’s incessant demands for him to find a suitable wife, Kyn monarch Marak storms into the restless streets of the city, seeking a release for his pent-up rage against the rogue vampires that have been terrorizing his realm. In a swirl of shadows, he encounters Maria—a captivating vampire hunter, oblivious to his regal status and the primal hunger that surges within him at the sight of her.

Despite the fire igniting between them, Marak knows she is human, making any claim on her impossible. Rather than risk her life against the vicious rogues, he reluctantly takes her under his wing, determined to train her for the hunt while fiercely battling his urge to draw her closer. But as fate would have it, when a rogue attack nearly claims Maria’s life, Marak acts on pure instinct and marks her with his bite. In that fateful moment, he pulls her into his dark world and soon discovers the shocking truth: Maria is hiding a secret of her own—she is not entirely human.

Haunted by the violent death of her sister at the hands of these vicious rogues, Maria is driven by a thirst for vengeance. She yearns for rogue blood, a desire that fuels her every move. Yet, within the intricate web of vampire society, even those like her—half-breeds—are treated with caution and care. Maria faces the daunting challenge of maintaining her facade as the perfect Kyn lady for her family while channeling the fierce spirit of her demon ancestors. Compounding her struggles is Marak, the infuriatingly alluring Kyn warrior who won’t just fade away despite her resolved intentions.

As she navigates the treacherous path of deceit and ambition, Maria realizes that lying can become a precarious house of cards, threatening to topple the fragile relationship that stands on the brink of both peril and passion.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I really loved it! It was different and had a kick butt heroine BUT she was also a realistic heroine who got her butt handed to her. Maria is a half human/half vampire Kyn. Not totally a vampire...more human but she makes up for it in kicking butt. Her sister was killed and ever since she has trained and taught herself to slay rogue vampires who were responsible. Maria has a lot of baggage because of what she is. She lacks a little self-confidence and half breeds are extremely rare and are thought of as less. Not by her family necessarily but her people. Things change when Marek finds her fighting and killing a rogue vampire. To him she is human and smells like it. No idea she's a half breed. Something she keeps from him in fear he'll not help her or want her. However, he keeps his own secret. He's King and its something he keeps from her. In fear she'll get hurt or worse he agrees to train her and its been difficult to keep his hands off her. Maria has a suitor who wants to marry her. Verran is very sweet and a good guy I think. He cares deeply for Maria I believe but she doesnt feel anything for him even if she likes him. I really hope he gets a story because I really liked him. He came off as a bit of a snob at first but he came around when it counted and apologized for being a jerk. I really enjoyed the book. I want more. :)

Out to avenge the death of her sister, Maria crosses paths with Marak and both are more than happy to lie about who they really are. When the truth comes out, they’ll have to work through their issues or lose what could have been.

I’m really not sure this book is worth the money to be honest. It’s a nice, easy read but that’s really all it is. It’s seriously lacking in substance and could do with some editing to pad out the story. If you don’t want anything too deep then this is probably the book for you, however, if you’re like me and you want all the details, then Blood Vow will probably leave you wanting more. Certain elements of the book are seriously vague and when they’re significant to the plot, that’s a little annoying. It’s strange, as the writer explains some things really well and then completely glosses over others. For example, there’s now real description as to what the bonding brands are. How they develop, whether both parties have them, if they match, etc. And I would have liked to know more warrior brands too. I like the main characters but even they could do with a little work. Maria supposedly has a secret persona that she hides from others but we rarely see her public persona. The Marak is supposed to be protective of women and yet hes happy to train a random female. All in all it’s not a bad story, it just feels a little unfinished.

I fell in love with this book QUICK. I think the world building Carter did was very successful. I became quickly interested in the world, and the world order: including the warriors, rogues, etc.

The heroine, Maria, is a half-vampire/half-human hybrid so she's never been accepted by her father's vampire kingdom. However, vampire women are rare and everyone is hoping that since she's part human, she'll be more fertile. THAT means that she's expected to get married ASAP.

The hero, Marak, just so happens to be a warrior, a ferocious killer who hunts vampires that have gone rogue. But more than all that, Marak is the King of the Vampires. He is also being pressured to get married and continue his line with heirs.

The two meet while hunting rogues. Marak mistakes Maria for a human and a romance ensues while he's training her to be a better fighter. It all goes to shit when Maria starts to believe that Marak is disgusted by her human-half and Marak starts to believe Maria is just another gold digger after his crown...

The only downside to this story was the ending. I was IN LOVE with these characters and their romance. Then the book came to a slamming, abrupt halt. The end felt rushed and forced and frankly ruined a lot of the book for me.

More please

Maria was determined to kill rogue vampires. They killed her little sister and drained her dry. And they had to pay. On her first night out, she almost died before she killed one. Suddenly, a warrior was standing in front of her telling her to go home. Instead, she challenged him to train her. He calls a little human girl. When she asks his name, he tells her to call him Mikal. So they begin to train every night. He doesn't know why or how she is so fast for a human. But she is more than a mere human. She is half vampire, a half breed. She is looked down on and mostly avoided. Just like she wanted! But not with Mikal. But she decides to go hunting on her own and almost gets killed. Mikal intervened by giving her his blood and turning her full vampire. Then they get together and she ends up with bond marks. But he finds out who she is and all hell breaks loose. You will have to read the book to find out how they solve the problems. This Is definitely an adult only book. Oh, yes! You have got to get this book.

It was alright. defiantly something quick to read in the afternoon. The only thing is that the while the MCs day they love each other and all that as the reader I don't know if I believe them. All the feelings are rushed

spoilers

This was really annoying, he dumps her, she is about to marry some other dude, he shows up at the wedding to stop it and they get together. Completely ignoring the fact that 1) he just kicked her to the curb without so much as a explain yourself. and 2) she was about to marry some other dude knowing full well she carried his matemark and he didn't know.

Overall it was alright. Not particularly funny or interesting but just interesting enough.

The sex in this book was detailed and fairly adventurous. 3/5. there are only 2 sexual sense of any kind in this book.

Maria & Marak both have been tasked. Both families wish for them to marry, not each other. These two didn’t know each other till that one night. Marak listens to Maria’s plea to train her to be faster better at killing rogue vampires. But she tempts him too much and can’t figure out why. She is human. But when the secret is out and the rogues attacks increase, Marak will stop at nothing to protect what is his.
I love a good vampire story and this one does not disappoint. I love that Maria is not going to sit idly by and let her father and the council dictate to her future. It just happens to be a coincidence that Marak’s council thinks the same thing. How is it that these two have never met? I guess the Kyn clan is bigger than I thought. But once things do get figured out, all hell breaks loose. Happiness does come but with some tears and hot sex.

Short but hits all of my sweet spots!

I stumbled upon this by accident and my how glad I am that I did! After reading just two chapters I stopped and went ahead and bought the other two books in the series so I could read continually. I love this couple and how they work together. Marak and Maria are a great pair. I love how she fights rogues and how sassy she is. This book is short, only 120 pages, but the way it moves leaves you feeling like there was more, it totally satisfies you. I've read many books with the vampire theme, but this one sticks out as being great. It hit all of my sweet spots that I look for to be fulfilled in a story, and I can't say the same for some full length vampire novels. This is a keeper. 5+ stars! I completely recommend this series.

This is a good book. Very short read but great plot. Kept me interested right from the very beginning. This is about Maria, who is a half breed vampire. Rogue vampires killed her sister and Maria is out for revenge. She tries to fool her parents into believing she is a perfect Kyn lady and somehow get rid of the Kyn warrior who just won't leave her alone. She meets up with Marak. Marak is the King and the elders want him to take a wife. He wants no part of it. He ends up saving Maria from a rogue vampire and to save her he has to bring her over to his world. He is having a hard time with this as he thinks she is a full human. He finds out she has been keeping secrets. Both are wary of each other. Recommend.

Marak and Maria are and attitude filled delight

Marak is accustomed to bring in command of his situation, and his people. But Maria has no clue who he is, or why she shouldn't stand up for herself and the goals she is determined to achieve.

Their frustration with one another as each tried to figure out how to deal with someone who broke the mold they were accustomed to was delightful.

Having already read Feral's story, I enjoyed his role here, having some idea what lays ahead of him.

This is a solid done in one read, with great humor and interesting world building that left me glad I already have the next story in the series downloaded.

I enjoyed the Blood Vow by Mina Carter . Actually I've read several of her books.I don't know if it was too short or I wasn't ready for it to end. I could dissect the values in it but I'd rather u do that. It created a world that consisted of Kyn Vampire warriors born and trained to kill rouges.
