Four college students were looking for some rest and relaxation. They found this old looking brochure at a diner that they had stop at. The brochure was the last one and it was tuck behind some other ones. The brochure was about a place called Sunken Park. It was located in the Pine Mountains in Georgia. Sunken Park sounded to good to be true. So the group decided to spend the weekend there. Once they crossed the gates of Sunken Park, their lives would never be the same. There is no place to hide from the evil curse that haunts the grounds of Sunken Park. Sara Brooke is a good writer and an excellent storyteller. I would recommend this book to readers of horror.

Sunken Park is the latest effort by Horror Author, Sarah Brooke and let me tell you, as short as it is, it takes you for a ride.
In the beginning, we meet a group of four college students (Brett, Carrie, Anita, and Roy) out on a road trip but at a bit of loss when it comes to their final destination. The come across an old but appealing looking brochure for Sunken Park, a retreat deep in the wilderness. It looks like a cheap and peaceful good time, so the four decide to take a chance.
Upon their arrival, odd things begin to happen almost immediately, and the four quickly find themselves in a fight for their lives.

I will say that for a short novel, Sunken Park really gives you one hell of a ride and it was one of those stories where at the end of each chapter, I was left wanting to know what happens next ("just one more chapter..."). Without giving too much away, this story is full of spooks and unexpected twist and is easily a five star rating. There were a couple editing issues (hey, I edit books so I can't help noticing stuff like that), however, the story itself was so intriguing and the characters so well-illustrated that it actually doesn't really hurt the reading experience (at least in my opinion). Plus, those issues were few and far between and sometimes even with the best editors small things can slip through the cracks.

I did say once that Kransen House was so far my favorite Sara Brooke effort, and so far I think that is still true. However, Sunken Park follows at a very close second.

If you are looking for a relatively quick, fast-paced, and page-turning read (and are a fan of books like Stephen King's IT and The Shining), definitely pick up Sunken Park.

I've read almost all of Ms. Brooke' s writings, beginning with her first published, STILL LAKE. I quickly learned to expect full-on horror, developed through great characterization as much as through setting, unforgettable stories that chill me.
I just didn't reach that height of fright with this one. Maybe it's because I live only a couple hours from the locale; maybe it's lack of empathy for any of the characters. That said, the ending did chill me, and In future, I'll take it out for a reread and see if my opinion improves.:)

What a disappointment

This Sunken Park was a disappointment compared to the first book I read by Sara. When the book starts out you get the impression it is going to be a good read. Up until Anita gets sick the story is creepy and you think after the guys go out for a walk something big is about to happen,Wrong! This gets confusing and just down right ridiculous. I am really sorry I bought this one believe me don't waist your time. I was expecting a real thriller/horror. I will try another book by Ms Brooke.kozetteksmith

Great scary book

I read this book in one day. It was scary and interesting. It was a quick read also. No boring gibberish or fillers. All of the characters were needed. I love Sara Brooke's books. I have read three so far. I would love to see this story as a movie on Chiller. Four friends on a trip to hell!

Great Scary Book

This book was full of disturbing, creepy, and downright disgusting moments. The plot was well done too. I highly recommend this horror novel.
