What lengths would you go to, in the fight against tyranny and oppression in a society of unchecked capitalism and technology run rampant, if you knew you could free millions from subjugation and death?
Recruited to the newly formed A.C.T. (Anti-Corporation Taskforce), Frankie, a full body cyborg, leads her team in a fight against the unchecked power of the Corporations in the city of Neo-London in 2124AD.
A plan is formulated to inflict the first significant damage to the power of the Corporations and free millions from the grip of these capitalist overlords.
Frankie and her team must travel the world, visiting the war zone that is America, the mega cities of the far east and the industrial heartlands of Europe in their quest to take on the Corporations, while remaining hidden from them at the same time.
The stakes are raised when the corporations reveal the lengths they will go to, to protect their own interests.
Frankie must fight her way through war zones, corporate operatives, battle mechs and sabotage if she is going to really hurt the Corporations and change the world for the better.
This new Cyberpunk action thriller, a sequel to The New Prometheus, is a must read for fans of Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, Appleseed, Akira, The Matrix, Robocop and Total Recall.
Book 2 was in my opinion just as awesome as book 1. It definerly earned a number of air miles / frequent flyer points. I love the character of Frankie, she definitely beautiful and very bada$$. Onwards to book 3 and hopefully many more?
The continued adventures of Frankie the Cyborg as she joins the ACT (Anti-Corporation Taskforce). The government of Britain is a little annoyed at having to kowtow to the corporations and has decided to strike back after one of their leaders has his family kidnapped by the dastardly megacorps. Frankie and company are given the chance to go after their enemies' livelihood with a unique plan: deregister all of the world's nanotechnology from corporate control with the equivalent of a free global VPN. I find the concept humorous enough that I was onboard throughout this action-packed entertaining book.
Frankie thankfully gets her upgrades that leaves her anatomically correct but doesn't get a chance to test them out with her partner because, unfortunately, he's still married to a corporate-loving traitor. We'll see how that goes in future installments but I'm rooting for those two kids. Much of this book plays like a video game with nonstop fights, cybernetic super-punches, and twists. It makes me think of it as PERFECT DARK: THE SERIES and that's a compliment. I will be reading the third book, definitely.
The over all plot of this story is decent if not over used however the writing is something that I would expect to see in a Jr. high or high school level book (which is OK if that was your aim). The result of the bad wording made the book a bit painful to read made worse by having the same things repeated too much such as the line copy that or some variation there of. The other note that if I was reading the first mech part shooting a tank often does not make it go off depending on what it is-you can not shoot a propane tank and expect it to go off with out a secondary source of ignition.
This wasn’t a bad SciFi novel but although there was lots of action, it wasn’t as interesting as the first book ‘The New Prometheus’. The story started well but quickly developed into just a series of incidents without much character development. In the first book there was a lot about Frankie pre and post cyborg, but we didn’t get to know much more about her in this book. Also the build up to the big ending to this story really didn’t feel right, as a covert organisation ACT has abysmal security and even the most ordinary of organisations know to have off-site data backups. Having said that, the final battle was interesting.
An excellent second book in the series, I will continue reading.
This book is fast-paced, full of action, heart warming characters that you will grow to like. What I did not like in the book was the fact that Frankie is a cyborg and should be able to shoot without missing because RoboCop doesn't, Carrie bigger and have your weapons because she stronger and more powerful. And 18 that deals with mecs should have weapons and armor that can handle them since they always seem to run into mechs. Besides this slight criticism and a little bit of editing for pause I Will be eagerly await Ing the next book. I suggest people give it a try.
The first sequel to The New Prometheus. A quick, fast and easy read. cyberpunk and sci-fi with cyber hacking and gun fights. this book sees missions across the world and a grande finale of a battle. This book feels like reading a FPS computer game, with missions and boss battles. from comments by the author it pays homage to Ghost in the Shell as well as several other strong female led stories. The spoken parts feel a bit heavy and clunky at times, as well as not flowing well but overall an enjoyable read.
I think I liked part 2 better. Fast paced with more action and lots of suspense. Frankie really is adjusting to her new self. The organization is growing but with a few set backs. Makes it more interesting
Yep read it, you won't regret it. I can't wait for the next book in this series to be released. I hope she will eventually get a chance to have a relationship with on you will have to read it for yourself. LOL!
There were a couple of surprises and some sad points in this story. It worked out well in the end, though there is still more for Frankie and her team to accomplish.
An improvement from book 1 and i like how the missions are set up snd how their was a plan and a consequence to this book that gives it a bit more reality. Looking forward to book 3
The battle against the corporations continues, and we see a lot of action. The insights into human nature and the corruption brought on by unregulated power and greed are fascinating. It will be interesting to see what happens in The Prometheus Trap.
The story telling is compelling. The action is packed and the heroin is kick ass. What more could you ask for. But I'm asking anyway. I want more......
This is sad. While the concept is sound the detail is lacking like it was written by a 5th grader. The military parts are a joke as they do not behave in this manner
This book is a refresh of the original, which I purchased through Amazon. I’ve purchase books 1 & 2 in this series and have enjoyed both. The stories are interesting and make me want to immediately pick up the next book. The author has done good character development and they interact interestingly with each other. Also, the world the author has built is fits well with the characters. The author has released Books 3 and 4 and I have purchased both.
