Max Brand, one of America's most popular and prolific novelists and author of such enduring works as Destry Rides Again and the Doctor Kildare stories, died on the Italian front in 1944.
I was in this back when it was about a boy and his horse, but that story didn't stick around too long. In fact, the primary plot changed about 5 times. I couldn't tell you what this book was about. The characters were under developed and wildly inconsistent. Not good, but I did like the horse.
Again, the second hero, or the youngster is the one who takes centre stage -- this seems a recurring theme in many of the novels by this great & prolific writer .
