Comedy, excitement and romance are mixed together in this light-hearted book, perfect for the armchair tourist. Barbara Wills is about to become junior partner in a travel company, Maddens Magic Carpet Tours, owned and run by her uncle, Charles Madden. There are problems with the European tour and Babs soon takes on the role of secret agent on location, joined by Azalea Dunbar, her zany friend, and soon by an appealing little dog called Angelique.Together with their fellow travellers - among them, Mimi, the obliging red-headed courier, and slimy Mike Radnin, the driver - the girls uncover various scams in colourful European locations. And what about the vicar and his wife – do they have a guilty secret? The book reaches its climax in the sinister backstreets of Venice with its hidden canals, dark alleyways and sinister, faded grandeur. And we are left with the promise of more adventures to follow.
I loved the book, couldn't put it down: adventure, mystery, excitement, a bit of romance, taking me to all the beautiful places I have been to! And so captivating, mesmerising and accurate description of those magnificent places! -) Pity, isn't taking all the way to Paris! It's a bit similar to Molly M. Mysteries, my other favourite but in Europe and recent years. I can't wait for the next one!
Loved this book! Aside from the interesting characters and the intriguing plot, it was the wonderful depictions of European landscapes and the charming mountains villages which I found most interesting. I would definitely recommend this novel and look forward to more adventures with Azalea and Babs.
