The Earth in 2419, glutted and overdependent on technology, is destroyed by a military-grade computer virus. Billions die and technology is deemed heresy, only used by the hated and feared techWitches. Remnants of the past remain, but without advanced manufacturing and computing capabilities, the world falls back to a quasi-Medieval standard of living. Now, a thousand years later, Ian Martell, a blacksmith in the Forge, must seek long lost power to rescue his love, Ember, from the evil king Damon. Ancient strength will be uncovered as Ian journeys to the heavens and beyond in search of a way to win Ember back. Lurking in the shadows is a conspiracy, longing for the power that Ian will find. Who can Ian trust? Will he win the day or will Ember die? Find out in Ion's Echo, first book of the Ion Trail Series.
This was a great read! It was a refreshingly original universe that was written in a way, and with great characters, so that you want to keep on exploring more of it! If your tired of all the same old crap being rerun through different genres, give this book a go. It is breath of fresh air (unless it's one of those points in the book where you stop breathing
I found this a very refreshing mixture of vividly described scenes with a well-flowing storyline incorporating detail and subtle hints as well as plot twists to make the reader as immersed as one could wish. I look forward to reading book 2.
Ion's echo is a really unique and outstanding piece of writing. In a genre that is often overdone and exhausted it brings something new to the table and offers new lease of life to sci-fi. I particularly enjoyed the way aspects of the past and future are merged so seamlessly, I found this to be a really unique idea and I is was executed brilliantly. The characters are very well written and Ian is the kind of guy it is impossible not to root for, I easily became invested in his story. The plot is steady, well structured, and has just the right amount of twists and turn to keep you on your toe. I highly recommend this book, it really is something special. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in print sometime soon, this is certainly an up and coming author to watch out for!
I loved it. It was an original idea which is hard to find in the Sci-Fi world. It is medieval, which I have never seen before in a post-apocalyptic book. It has some romance, which I love to have some of in almost every book I read. It has plot twists. It is all around just a great book! I would recommend it in a heart beat!
