Cathan has discovered powers within himself since his story - and that of the waterworld, Aquasilva - began in HERESY. He has also found that he is the Emperor Orosius's brother - but Orosius is dead, and Eshar is now set in his place, thanks to the Imperial Navy's king-making. Meanwhile, the religious fanatics of the Domain continue to seek out heresy - and Cathan in particular. Still refusing to attempt to place himself on the Imperial throne, Cathan studies the history of storms and the terrible effects of previous meddling with Aquasilva's weather systems. But the Domain's dogs are everywhere, and capture lays in wait for him...and with it, the discovery of his true identity, and death. CRUSADE completes the AQUASILVA trilogy, which has seen the young Cathan come of age, in more ways than one. In its deep politics, world-building and characterisation, it is a masterpiece of fantasy fiction from a new star.

Ugh. That's all I can really say after finishing this series. As I've noted with the first two books, I think the originality of the base story is good. But everything beyond that annoyed me. The author was unable to be consistent and choose the literary tool he needed for a situation regardless of whether it made any sense in the arc of the story or not. Horrible. He left loose ends flying everywhere (and this was the concluding book) and didn't come close to explaining things satisfactorily (or at all in many cases). All this on top of building the second book around a single point, which proves to be completely useless in the final book (but for his "shocking" revelation at the end of it). I won't call a book with a decent story a waste of time, but this was pretty close.

Really disappointing. I tend to read a lot - usually a book or two a week. This book made me so annoyed that it took me a month to stomach it down, and I still am annoyed. The first book was so good and innovative. The second was somewhat interesting, but frustrating. This book meandered. The main characters got captured every other chapter it seemed, and did not grow at all throughout the series. People behaved in inexplicable ways that made no sense as to their interests. Plotlines were left unresolved. Very frustrating and unsatisfying, which is a big disappointment as this series had great promise. I would not read a fourth book in the series.

So did not like this book. I thought that I would since I like the first two. This one is all the same: captured, escape, captured, escape. Left it open for another book, but I'm not sure if I would read it anyway.

Aún así, he leído cosas peores.
