In the middle of the boom years of the 1950s ringing Whitehall 1212 meant calling Scotland Yard. In 1955 with murders in the red-light district of Soho mounting up, that number was ringing off the hook. Why wasn't anyone doing anything? It takes an intelligent PA, a New York Detective, a junior DI and a ditzy blonde to solve the case. All the fun of the 50s, Bill Haley, Rock and Roll, and the start of Teddy boys, Hep Cats and Beatniks. Take a trip down memory lane into the past. Life may be getting better after the war, but in London's seedy East End flats, a darkness was brewing. Because life and death was never in black and white.

A good mixture of characters makes this easy to read. The period features are well done. Although I had guessed the culprit it did not spoil the ending which was fitting and cleverly leaves the way open for a sequel. A good holiday read, with enough blood and intrigue to keep your interest.
