To start off, yes this book has an inherent bias written by a member of the party who ran for office under its banner. So it's certainly tilted in favor of the NYS Conservative Party.

That being said it is meticulously researched, and well written. A through examination of what led to the creation of the Party and its doings from 1962- 2001.

It really gives an understanding of how the party ensured that left of center Republicans were not the only choice voters in NY had, at a time when Rockefeller, Lindsay, and others werent very distinguishable from their Democratic opponents.

Similar to how the liberal party pulled Democratic candidates to the left, the Conservative party set up a counter balance and ensured that Republicans not stay too far from the right without facing severe hardships in election bids.
