Simplicity and power: The poetry of Sri Chinmoy, 1971-1981

Rate this book
In this pioneering study of the early poems of the late Indian poet and philosopher Sri Chinmoy, Dr Bennett explores his innovative use of the compound noun, his mystical lyrics and his kinship with spiritual poets such as Rabindranath Tagore and Gerard Manley Hopkins.

She concludes, "It is by virtue of their power and simplicity that Sri Chinmoy's flower-gatherings of poems across the span of these ten years have been able to unfold in ample measure the life of the soul, and it is through them that spiritual perceptions are once again lifted into the great themes of poetry."
