Award-winning author Cherry Adair broke thrilling new ground with On Thin Ice–her stunning romantic suspense hardcover debut. Now Cherry’s turning up the temperature, amping up the action, and raising the degree of danger and desire to irresistibly hot new heights.

Diamonds–jewels of every kind, in fact–are Taylor Kincaid’s best friends. The only thing she enjoys more is the challenge of stealing them, at which she excels like few others in the world. And specializing in plundering precious stones from wealthy international criminals just makes it all the more satisfying . . . and dangerously exciting. So for Taylor, there’s no resisting the double allure of snatching the elusive Blue Star diamonds–a prize she has pursued across three continents–from the South American stronghold of the murderous Morales terrorist organization.

The heist goes down without a hitch. Until Taylor discovers she has made off with more than she bargained for, namely the secret security-system codes that provide access to a South African diamond mine–packed with enough gems to sink a battleship. Suddenly, Taylor’s no longer just an ultrachic freelance jewel thief, but a reluctant player in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game against elite global trouble-shooters and bloodthirsty terrorists.

There’s nothing reluctant, however, about Huntington St. John, the top T-FLAC operative who’s hot on Taylor’s trail. And in Taylor’s opinion, just plain hot. The feeling, emotional and otherwise, is very mutual. Though they’re on opposite sides of the law, Hunt and Taylor swiftly come to appreciate each other’s well-honed skills. But since ecstasy is fleeting, and diamonds are forever, Taylor soon slips from the sheets and hits the streets . . . to reclaim the jewels she stashed overseas. And true to his name, Hunt is close behind–but this time, he’s after more than the codes. With the clock ticking, and two groups of terrorists closing fast, they’ll have to mix pleasure with some very risky business. If they can survive danger at every turn, outwit the ultimate high-tech security system, and somehow conquer each other . . . they just might get everything they desire.

Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.

Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."

When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."

Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."

Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.

"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.”

I can't stand the heroine. She's a thief, a liar, a devious person. Every word that comes out of her mouth is a lie. I didn't enjoy her character, not even one bit. The chemistry between Hunt and Taylor seemed forced. As far as I can see, there was no actual spark between them.

I'm sorry but I can't continue anymore. For me, this one was a big NO!

This is an action packed opposites attract romance with heart pounding suspense. I started this series and then sorta lost interest. "Hot Ice" has inspired me to get back into this wonderful series.

Huntington St. John is a top T-FLAC operative whose mission is to stop a religious zealot terrorist who has a stockpile of weapons, including a missile which may have a nuclear warhead. T-FLAC has information where the weapons are located and that a countdown has begun. His job is to find the world's best thief and get her to steal the codes he needs to save the world.

Taylor Kincaid just loves stealing diamonds, and anything else, from the nasty criminals who steal from the rightful owners. She loves the rush and the financial rewards aren't bad either. She has been chasing the Blue Star Diamonds for months. Taylor has just broken into the safe of Jose Morales, the head of the Morales terrorist organization, and not found what she was looking for, but what she found was much more important - the codes to the terrorist stronghold.

Hunt has tracked Taylor across the world and has finally got her just where he wants her, but not for long. As these two play a game of cat and mouse the clock is ticking. When Hunt reacquires Taylor his temper turns to passion and the always in control Hunt has met his match. Together they are determined to bring down the terrorist Morales.

Hot Ice
4 Stars

Taylor Kincaid specializes in stealing priceless gems and artwork from wealthy international criminals. Unfortunately, her latest heist has netted her the security codes to a secret underground bunker belonging to one of the world's most dangerous terrorists. Now Taylor is the target of rival terror organizations as well as T-FLAC operative Huntington St. John, who soon comes to realize there is more to Taylor than her breaking and entering skills.

Taylor is an intriguing heroine. Her choice of occupation initially presents her character as devious, manipulative and immoral; however, there are numerous hints to the fact that there is more to this than meets the eye.

Hunt is a typical Cherry Adair T-FLAC alpha male. He is brusque and overbearing, but Taylor meets him head-on, and their interactions are witty and exude sexual tension and chemistry.

The suspense plot is action-packed, and the Indiana-Jones like quest in the final chapters is very entertaining. That said, the villain is clichéd and there are several implausible moments.

Overall, this is one of the best installments in the series and I look forward to reading more of the Black Rose trilogy.

The editing, or supreme lack of in this case, in this book drove me absolutely crazy. For example, there was one section where it was just before dawn, then three hours later (the three hours was specifically referenced as the number of hours that had passed) it was late at night. There were also times when characters' names were mixed up and you couldn't tell who was supposed to be talking or listening or even there in the room. I'm doing a poor job of explaining just how messed up the editing was, but I firmly believe that anyone - even with no training in editing - could have done a better job picking up on most of these grave errors. If I can figure out who to send an email to, I might just write the publishing company and complain to them.

That said, the story line was thin and the characters spent most of the book saying the same thing over and over again, albeit in slightly different ways. I liked the characters and wish that the story line had a more depth to it.

I realize that these books are not great literary works and I don't expect much from them other than to be entertained. After a while, I was more interested in seeing just how many mistakes I could find in the book than in what was happening with the story.

Hot Ice was a decent romantic suspense story and I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I hadn't read a couple hundred other RS books in the past few years. There just wasn't anything unique or different about the characters. Nothing memorable. The writing is technically good, but the characters felt flat. It took me a good while to get into the story, but I was engaged for the last third of the book. And while I enjoyed the "Indiana Jones-ish" feel of the last third of the book, it was out of place somehow. The "seven levels of hell" theme required just too much suspension of disbelief.

This book is enjoyable, but doesn't stand out from the RS crowd in any way.

This was my second Cherry Adair and I just don't think she's an author for me. Despite the massive weapon aimed at Las Vegas and ticking time bomb style plot, I found the book a bit boring. The characters didn't engage me and I didn't really feel what they felt for each other. I wish there had been less of the T-FLAC secondary characters and more focus on the central two.

A very well written adventure, thriller, romance with some steamy sex scenes. There's great chemistry between the H/h, some fun, and lots of T-Flac mercenary action.

Ms Adair has a huge imagination, and I could see this story transferring to the screen. Also, take note, this book was written 20+ years ago, so the technology within reflects that.

It can be read as a standalone, but I am reading this series in order, as some characters reappear throughout. There are no spoilers for plots of other books. 4.5 stars.

Every woman loves jewels! Rubies, diamonds, emeralds no matter they all rock. Be it the glitz and glam it adds to your perfect outfit or the thrill of slipping on something cool as ice when you feel hotter than hot no matter the fact remains woman love jewels.

But in this read the heroine is not so much for the thrill of wearing them as she is for the thrill of stealing them! And most of all diamonds are forever, men are so not. But Taylor makes a grave error when she steals more than she bargained for, a secret set of codes she never wanted nor needed. But now that she has them it 's either get them back to where they belong or use them for a bit of fun.

She does not count on hotter than hell Hunt coming after her, or to be exact hunt her down. The man is all kinds of delicious take me now hot, and soon she realizes the man is just as smart and witty as herself, and also dead set on getting the job done. Hunt and Taylor come to appreciate each other's skills and soon also each other's blazing hot attraction as they lose themselves to passion. But when Taylor slips from his bed to go after prize diamonds Hunt goes into double time as he has to chase her down all over again, but is he still after the codes or is there something more he's he wants to wrap himself around?

This book was so totally awesome and so hot it left me breathless, and begging for more. This author as a reputation of creating stunning realistic characters, mind blowing adventures, kick ass hero's and memorable heroines, and I am more than happy to say not only did she once again deliver it all on every page she did it even better than before!

The kick ass action in this read was so very addictive I wanted to grab a weapon and blow up the
bad-guys and yes more than once I was so lost in this read a bomb could have dropped next to me and I would not have know it at all.

The characters are addictive and you just want to climb inside their minds and stay there forever, the plot it one of pure brilliance and so well thought out, you will just as myself be on the edge of your seat at all times.

The author making both main characters equal in the sense that both know what they want and know how to get it, made this read thrilling beyond believe. I love a strong kick ass hero, but I also adore a heroine that can stand up for herself and fight back as good as she gets.

Absolutely amazing stuff! I highly recommend this read for all Cherry Adair fans, she entrances readers and takes them on adventures we all can only dream about!

The best series entry to date (IMO)! Moreover, I was glad to see it. Unlike the previous installments, this one had me engaged immediately as T-FLAC agent Huntington St. John strikes his best Alpha Male pose much to the delight of jewel thief extraordinaire Taylor Kincaid and her many identities. I’ve enjoyed Hunt from his first appearance in the books and Taylor was an excellent match for him. The chemistry of these two together was great and their scenes together were quite entertaining. Her quick wit and ever-scheming brain kept the entire T-FLAC team guessing, yet her femininity also came through quite clearly. Hunt on the other had, determined not to be the latest victim of “The Curse” doesn’t stop being the charmingly tough taciturn warrior he’s presented before, and it looks good on him!
For this installment, Taylor has inadvertently stolen codes that will thwart a terrorist plot during one of her heists – and for the first time ever she’s been caught. Hunt rescues her and soon the codes aren’t all he wants from her, and heck she wants to give him not only the codes but everything else she has ever had. A bit of cuteness allows her to escape from him and the chase is on around the globe.
The deliciously mega-manically and dementedly slimy villain was so interesting to watch it wasn’t difficult to envision his nefarious dreams of world domination – because of course the world would be so much better if he ruled it.
Cameo’s from the other agents kinda telegraphed the next agent to fall under ”The Curse” while working great action set pieces and strengthening the series foundation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book; found it hard to put down for too long. Wonderful characters, spy stuff, high-tech thievery that reminded me of the movie Entrapment with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery. The 7-level maze they had to break through in Africa was very imaginative. This author has a brilliant style all to her own with colorful expressions that had This Reader laughing throughout the book. The setting was all over the globe (Switzerland, Houston, Africa...).

did-not-finish

Words cannot describe my lack of interest in this novel. My I-don't-care level finally rose too high for me to finish it. The writing was uninteresting. There was way too much internal monologuing and long, boring passages of irrelevant description. The plot was poorly paced, the bad guys were laughable, and the main characters were simply annoying. I will steer clear of Cherry Adair in the future.

I don't read romance ever, but the plot summary about jewel thief meeting a secret agent was too out of the box to ignore. I was surprised because the first half of this book was good. I was zooming through it, but once Taylor and Hunt started smashing the anti-terrorist plot high-key fell to the wayside. They had good push and pull, but fell in love wayyyy too fast to be anything but tropey. And Hunt was obsessed with this girl's pale skin and mentioned it to the point where it made me uncomfortable. Like...I am aware this lady is white, God forbid I forget. Pacing was also very odd. The plot to take down the greatest terrorist group in the world felt like an afterthought to the main characters going around in circles like "Omg I can't believe I'm this obsessed with someone >.<". And like with most straight romances, the female main character seems to have a complete personality 180 once she falls in love. Taylor went from strong and independent to weepy maiden when she thought Hunt was gonna leave her, despite him making 0 indications of that.

Weird. Because I felt the stirrings of something unique in the beginning, but halfway through it's like the author remembered she has to hit every overdone straight romance trope and just started throwing them in there. Like how in the hell did a book about a jewel thief and counter-terrorist agent still end in a marriage proposal after spending maybe 72 hours together tops? Probably could've been something really unique if the relationship was allowed to slow down and stay in that sexy push and pull of the beginning.

Before I review any romance, I always like to point out that I'm a straight man.
I'm not saying that because I have to assert my manhood, but because most of these books are written by women for women.
So in some cases, my opinion may differ from other readers, and I will probably like or notice different things.
---------
Depending on what you expect from this book, it could be a good read; It is an erotic romance with a few exciting scenes.
For me, the main problem was the plot; it just didn't work.
We have a thief who stole some jewelry from a terrorist organization. Without knowing it, she also took
a few discs with secret codes that several guys want to find.
The whole story is about these disks and the people who want to get them back, but that is just stupid because the terrorist group that wants to get this code has spent billions of dollars on security
equipment and weapons. Why didn't they have a backup?
But if you don't mind a few problems with plot and pacing, it's a delightful read for a Sunday afternoon.

Hot Ice is the seventh installment of the T-FLAC Series by Cherry Adair. T-FLAC is like this rogue anti-terrorist group. Maybe. They were explained a little bit better in this book. I am still going through this series, though I have no idea why. I haven't had a book yet that I've REALLY liked. They've all ranged from just "okay" to downright terrible. This book is in the "okay" category. It actually started out really good but fizzled out in the middle, which made me sad because it did have potential.

Taylor Kincaid is an insurance recovery specialist. Okay, so she's a jewel thief, but like, not a bad thief because the stuff was stolen items anyhow. She's GOOD at what she does. Seriously. Double jointed, Spiderwoman-type stuff. Unfortunately, she steals the wrong jewels--stuff that contains some security codes for a terrorist organization. Whoops. Now, she's target number one.

Huntington St. John (now, if that's not a male romance name, what is?) is a T-FLAC agent. He's searching for Taylor. He finds her once, but she was a slippery little she-demon, so he lays out some better plans. The second time, he's successful and tells her what's actually going on. She reluctantly agrees to help, but Hunt isn't sure if he can trust her. And what's worse is that she's amazingly sexy, and he knows they are both attracted to one another. So, how are they going to take down these terrorists when all he can think about is this beautiful jewel thief?

If it sounds like a good plot, the idea is there. The execution is not great. As I said previously, it starts out amazing, but it fizzles out half-way through. The action becomes repetitive, and honestly, I just got bored with it. I stopped caring about the characters and what was going on. I just wanted the book over with, and that's never a good thing. So, three stars for the effort. Some readers may really like it. It just wasn't all the way there for me.

Cherry Adair has made a name for herself with the exciting series of T-FLAC books. Each story, featuring a hot, sexy operative of this privately funded, top-secret, anti-terrorist group has the twists and turns of an action-adventure novel and the steam of a high-powered Jacuzzi. HOT ICE is no different, with Huntington "Hunt" St. John taking center stage, attempting to gain intel on a terrorist madman named Jose Morales.

Morales, a man who believes that anyone who disagrees with his beliefs deserves to die, has been amassing jewels, art, and weapons in an underground mine for years. Hunt, assigned to find out when Morales attends to strike the world's population, needs to open the top-of-the-line safe in his domain to gather the computer disks that are there-he's sure that those disks hold all of the information he needs to deter Morales and his mission. The problem is that he needs someone who can open the supposedly uncrackable safe, and there's only one person who can do that-Taylor Kincaid, a jewel thief and safe cracker who is thought to be the best in the world.

Unfortunately, before Hunt can reach Taylor and plead for her assistance, Taylor is arrested in San Cristobel for breaking into the home of-you guessed it-Jose Morales. Now Hunt believes he has the ultimate power chip to get Taylor to help him-he'll bail her out of jail if she gives him the computer disks that she stole. Taylor , of course, plays dumb, assuring Hunt that she has no idea what he's talking about. But when Morales's henchmen come to pay her a visit, Taylor has second thoughts on holding out on Hunt. After all, the man with the power and resources of T-FLAC behind him might be the only person who can keep her alive long enough to bring down the terrorist.

Ms. Adair has penned another sexually charged winner. The action-adventure part of the story is top-notch, with believable characters and situations that will have you rooting for the good guys and crying for the downfall of Morales and his men. The sexual chemistry between Hunt and Taylor isn't necessarily instantaneous, but it's an integral part of the story. Neither one of them is sure that they can truly trust the other, and the situations they find themselves in only add to the age-old idiom of whether they really love each other or are just responding to the danger around them.

I did miss seeing the Wright brothers in HOT ICE, the operatives from the previous T-FLAC stories, but Hunter St. John is an intriguing and sexy new hero, and his alternate aloofness and genuine caring made for an intriguing story. Taylor is a woman that reminds you of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider or a non-vampire-fighting Buffy, and her slow nature of trusting added depth and emotion to the storyline. All in all, HOT ICE is definitely a book to pick up-you won't be disappointed!

Taylor Kincaid - jewel theif extrodinaire, adreniline junkie - we don't learn until midway that she retrieves stolen jewels for insurance companies. and she is the best...

Huntington St John, aka Hunt - out to stop Mano de Dios - a religious terrorist group... they have a weapon of mass destruction, and T-FLAC has been tipped off that discs in the safe can be found...

And Taylor robs said safe (of course the safe guaranteed not to be able to be broken into) - unknowingly carrying off 5 discs along with the jewels. to confuse things, the black rose terrorist group wants those discs and cause Laura to be arrested as soo as she returns to their hotel... she had mailed the safe contents to Switzerland before she returned to the hotel.

Hunt breaks her out of jail (after 5 failed attempts in the 3 hours it took Hunt to get it together)... he takes her to a safe house, and in spite of his attraction for her, does his best to intimidate the information out of her... she is temporarily blinded because of head trauma in the jail... but she doesn't tell him anything - in spite of her attraction to him... and when he falls asleep, she slips out of the handcuffs (yeah, what was he thinking - she had freed herself of multiple chains & locks in the jail when he found her), and hits him over the head with the lamp to knock him out... and escapes...

It takes them 2 months to track her down again... and this time, bit by bit they come to trust one another... he tells her who he works for and why they want the disks... and though they had sex on the plane on the way to Zurich, when they get to the vault, she palms 2 of the 5 disks as insurance - in case they aren't the good guys. but then their car is gassed, and when they wake up 3 hours later, the 3 disks are gon... she takes Hunt and his team to her condo, more sex, more talk... and then when she realizes what the disks represent, she turns them over...

Mano de Dios believes God wants him to destroy evil Las Vegas - with a missle hidden underground behind 7 locks, with each lock/environment varied to represent the 7 levels of Dante's inferno... they have codes for 2 locks... and need Taylor to help them negotiate the locks...

They make their way down, bit by bit, knowing when they get there, the Manos will attack... Hunt & Taylor both come to realize they love each other, though both never thought they would love anyone... at the last lock on the missle, Taylor is sprayed with a chemical that makes her unconsious... Hunt rushes her to rescue, and they fix her... and they finally admit their love for one another...

Definitely mixed feelings about this book.

Hunt rescues a jewel thief from prison to help T-FLAC break into a safe - but she's already done it and stolen what they are looking for. She manages to outwit him and escape.

Three months later he has tracked her down again. T-FLAC is desperate for five discs which she stole - the key to thwarting a terrorist group's plans to nuke Las Vegas.

Good points - Taylor is a kick-ass heroine, top of her field and well respected by the team for her contributions. I liked the descriptions of her heists and the way she evaded Hunt.

Bad points - apparently Hunt can control his emotions and seduce Taylor into forgetting to escape!! Another bad point was the grand finale which appeared to fizzle out part way through .

Also, having paid full price I was surprise at some of the typos in the book. And towards the end there was a very odd passage

A good fun read but I am concerned that this was some people's favourite of the T-FLAC books.

I've literally just finished this book, not more than ten minutes ago, and I've gotta say, I am blown away. This was such a thrilling and suspenseful read, I could hardly put it down. Although there were plenty of steamy moments, I would definitely classify this as more action/adventure than romance. It's definitely not your typical romance novel. Coming from other author's such as Suzanne Brockmann (one of my favorites, I love her TD&D series), this novel was more a step in the intense, fast-paced action realm. However, I ate it up completely.

My first book from Cherry Adair was 'Kiss and Tell' and I was in love with it. I then moved to 'Hot Ice' because it seemed to have good reviews and I am not sorry. This has definitely moved to my favorite reads' list. It took, a bit for me to get used to Taylor (the heroine), but she is one cool customer, with brains AND beauty. And I love Hunt (the hero) just as much as I love Jake (from 'Kiss and Tell').

The ending was a little hard to follow because it was so fast paced (I'm still not sure what happened with the blonde terrorist and Savage) but definitely satisfying. Out of all of Ms. Adair's books, I'd definitely recommend this one as well as 'Kiss and Tell.' From what I've read of the reviews for her other books in the series, a lot of readers would agree.

Taylor Kincaid is a jewel thief - the best, but no one knows who she is. Huntington St. John has pent months at his T-FLAC job tracking her down and figuring out all of her many aliases. She's just robbed a safe in the San Cristobal home of Jose Morales, the religious fanatic head of Mano del Dios, when she's captured - a first. Hunt frees her, but she escapes from him. He's after the disks she stole with the jewelry, giving access codes to a mine Morales has made into the 7 levels of Hell from Dante's Inferno where he's planning a nuclear chemical attack on Las Vegas. Taylor doesn't care about the disks until Hunt captures her again a couple of days prior to the attack and convinces her to work with them. Two of the other groups are also after the disks and they become the hunted as they try and stop the attack in South Africa. Taylor is so good at breaking into things, she save the day, gets the guy and a new job with T-FLAC instead of working for an insurance co. recovering stolen goods.

Language and some sex, but interesting story.

After all the great reviews of this book and the number of 5* ratings my expectations where rather high. For me, this book is a 4* at most. What set me off was in the beginning when Hunt and Taylor where at the safe house after her escape from prision, how did her eyesight just come back to her and what did she use to unlock the handcuffs and how did she manage to leave the safe house? This I must admit has bugged me. When she gets to South Africa was another sore spot for me that she expected to see Lions roaming the streets, does she not read anything other than safe manuals???? Hunt is okay not great and Taylor just does not seem to mix well with me, something was just off with her and I cannot seem to find out why I just did not like her very much. As a South African the way SA was depicted in the end of the story put me off the book as one would expect an author to do some research on the countries she uses instead of portraying them as savage!!!
