In both the raw magnificence of the Alaska Range and the sleek boardroom of a major nature magazine, only the fittest — and most savage — will survive.
In the remote wilderness of Alaska a mammoth grizzly bear is wounded and on the rampage. He has killed once. He will kill again....
The back of the novel says that Lamar Underwood is an experienced magazine editor and outdoorsman, and this is very obvious by the story. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the Alaskan wilderness, grizzly bears, and the inner workings of magazine production, but that last topic takes up significantly more time than the marketing indicates.
This is more of a business drama with a killer bear than it is a straight horror novel. Had it been advertised as such, I wouldn’t have been interested, but having read it I can say it was competently made. It’s a fine book, just not the book the cover claims it to be.
