Jo D'Angelo's sisters thought they had the perfect prescription for mending her shattered heart: a relaxing stay at Rose Cottage, their grandmother's idyllic home. But for Jo, Rose Cottage was a painful reminder of her youthful summer romance with Pete Catlett, whose infidelity had come to light when Jo learned of his shotgun wedding....
Pete couldn't believe it when Jo reappeared at Rose Cottage, but he got the distinct impression that he was the last person Jo wanted to see on her doorstep. Pete vowed to gain Jo's forgiveness for his betrayal...and perhaps win her heart in the process?
With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
I am sick of cheating jerky heroes getting a fee pass, as if what he did didn't cause pain. He pushed into her life like he had a right to, bringing the result of his cheating with him. What is wrong with these authors? He was 20 not a child and knew what he was doing when he cheated. This was not a HEA, it would have been if she had thrown him to the curve and found someone deserving of her. I am also so sick of the weak, spineless heroine who is controlled by her hormones. Cause a man looks good he can get away with anything.
Author: Sherryl Woods First published: 2005 Length: ~3000 kindle locations Setting: Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. Contemporary. Sex: Infrequent. Not overly explicit, Hero: Lawyer Heroine: Lawyer
The interactions with Davey were poorly written - stilted and artificial.
The resurrection of the relationship was rapid and odd.
The portrayal of Pete’s ex was mean spirited.
The ultimate forgiveness of Pete because he was young and foolish and forgot a condom was disrespectful of Jo. Especially since he didn’t seem to use one when they got together!
I was not happy.
The series went downhill. And this one was a real fizzes.
I just finished this series, and I'm sorry to say, this was a really disappointing book (even more so because I enjoyed the other three).
Pete just wasn't a hero I could get behind -- not only had he cheated on the heroine years earlier, resulting in a child with another woman, he was entirely too cocky and self-assured about waltzing back into her life. Then again, Jo was such a doormat that I'm not surprised he behaved that way. This might have worked with some sizzling fights and truly making him work his way back into her life, but she caved almost immediately. Truly disappointing for a woman named after a strong character like Jo from Little Women.
The drama with Pete's ex-wife was also a sticking point for me. I enjoy a good fight, and this one was brewing from Kelsey's first scene.
Two stars because overall, I enjoyed the series, but I wish it hadn't ended with this.
When Jo and Pete were young and in love they thought it was the forever kind, but when she went to college he had sex with another girl and got her pregnant, he married the other girl breaking Jo’s heart. 10 years later and Jo’s engaged to someone else and he gets caught cheating. So Jo is persuaded by her sisters to go back home to Rose Cottage. Where Pete who’s now divorced still lives, so it’s not long before they meet again.
This a very boring story with characters that were either really annoying as Jo’s sisters were, always in her face all the time. Or wishy washy like Pete and Jo. I didn’t like the authors writing style either. I expected more angst and passion. But it was all very low key.
This one was the best in the series. It contains the most details and sound the most realistic of all four. I highly recommend it for all fans of romance.
Pabaigoje net graudinausi.
This is the 4th book in The Rose Cottage Sisters and it revolves around the youngest D'Angelo sister, Jo. After finding her fiancé in bed with another woman, Jo's sisters convince her to take some time to get over it by returning to Rose Cottage. Reluctantly Jo does but is fearful of running into her secret first love, Pete who broke her heart when he got another woman pregnant 7 years ago! When her sister inadvertently hires Pete to do some repairs on the cottage with Jo to supervise, she doesn't know that this is the second chance Pete has been hoping for but felt undeserving of having. I loved every second of Pete and Jo's second chance at true love! Beautiful and deeply moving!!
Woods completes her love stories around Rose Cottage and creates two interesting characters in Pete and Jo. This book was fun to read and Pete isa believable character.
Jo, the youngest D'Angelo sister, has a secret. Her sisters don't even know about the young man she loved and lost. Pete is still around, a successful business owner, a little sadder and wiser. When Jo arrives after a humiliating experience in Boston, she finds that Pete has been hired to do work on Rose Cottage. Pete and Jo form a truce, and work through their issues together. When she meets Pete's son Davey, she falls in love with him, too. They have some hurdles to get over, but they finally realize that they are on the same side.
For the love of Pete what’s the work really good enjoyed it a lot it I would recommend it to anyone. Sweet Rose cottage and the home he built for Jo.
Was very interesting recommend it to anyone enjoyed the Rose cottage and the sisters. I would recommend this book to anyone sweet and clean. I would love a cottage by the ocean just like this one.
Jo, one of the Rose Cottage sisters, had been hurt badly by the man she was to marry, and the double hurt by her current boyfriend. She came to Rose Cottage to heal her broken heart. She had planned to live a quiet life with no one knowing about the pain. Her nosy sisters came to her "rescue" without knowing about the true reason she was there.
Not as good as others, Jo comes to cottage when engagement is over. She meets her childhood boy that broke her heart, she is landscape designer he built her her dream house thinking of her the whole time.
Hatte viel Gutes über die Autorin gehört und dieses Buch gab's in der Onleihe - hat mich aber nicht überzeugt... Rezension hier http://domicspinnwand.blogspot.com/20...
This is book 4 of the Rose Cottage Sisters series. It is Jo and Pete's story. When they were younger they had a relationship, but when Jo went back to Boston Pete cheated on her and got another girl pregnant. He was missing Jo and got drunk and went out with Kelsey and when he told Jo she left for good from there and moved to Boston permanently. She was engaged to another man and caught him in bed with another woman and her sisters told her she needed to come back to Rose Cottage to heal. The other 3 had and are all happily married. She had been back off and on throughout the years but had been careful not to see Pete. This time when she went back her sister had hired him to fix the cottage as it had a few things that Pete, who owned his own construction company, could take care of. Jo's sisters didn't know about her young relationship with Pete so couldn't understand Jo's aversion to him doing the work. Pete is determined to get Jo back but does admit that what he did to her was wrong but couldn't see any other way to do the honorable thing for his son. He picked Kelsey and then that didn't work out and they are divorced when the book starts. Good book and I guess the other ones in the series must be the other sisters.
Parts of this were enjoyable--I enjoyed the romance between Jo and Pete at the end of the book. I disliked Jo's OVERBEARING sisters, especially the oldest sister. And Pete just letting his ex get by with leaving a 6 yr old home alone with only a "Don't ever do that again" wasn't very realistic.
In drie uur tijd gelezen. Ik had even behoefte aan een simpele roman. Die worden zo verschrikkelijk ondergewaardeerd. Niets had me vandaag een beter gevoel kunnen geven dan deze feel-good-roman.
This is a read alone or part of a series. It was a lovely read and very enjoyable. There is always a bit of a challenge in Sherrl's books, but there is also a happy ending.
this was my least favorite book of the series. I had a hard time with Jo taking back Pete. Once a cheater always a cheater no matter the reason for doing it.
