Nope. This is definitely not something I can recommend AT ALL people! Douchbag Hero is a manho of the worst kind. When book opens, he has just been woken up by his father because he had been caught the night before having sex with two women in the ladies room and made the news. Hero doesn't remember it because he is hungover but finds it funny. His father gives him an ultimatum to get married or he will sell the family business. Hero walks into a cafe where the heroine works and proposes that they get married in exchange for money (heroine needs $30 grand to pay her grandmother's medical bills). After first rejecting his offer flat out, heroine has a change of heart the next day and goes to his penthouse to tell him she would accept his offer, only to find Hero had sex with a random woman he picked up in bar.

Flash forward a bit, they agree to the terms and on the day of their wedding, hero says some vile things to his friends about the heroine which she overhears, then on their wedding night, he leaves her alone in the apartment while he goes out, gets drunk & picks up a chick whom he brings back home to f**k! He tells OW that he is married & this is his wedding night which he will spend with her! (Heroine sees & hears all this).

He does end up stopping after that with OW after heroine leaves him but he never regrets or has any remorse at all for his actions. This guy thinks he is God's gift to women and that those who are not rich like him is beneath him. It takes him more then half of the book to somehow change his thinking a bit and he came across as an immature tween instead of a grown man!

I made it to 80% before I lost interest and trashed it and there was still no attraction or anything romantic happening between the two protagonists! (not even a kiss).

I did like the heroine at first. She had spirit & scruples but like always, they end up giving in and forgetting everything the douchbags have done.

On the plus side, the only thing I liked about this was all the backup characters - the parents, sister, best friend, grandma and even the hero's BFs towards the end. Other then that, this is one to skip guys.....

I'm speechless!! Wow this was an amazing book!! I'm glad that I voluntarily decided to get this advanced reader copy from the author.

Parker & Alice, ❤️. Parker was a rich playboy that didn't do flowers and hearts. Alice was a humble waitress with a heart of gold. Parker proposed an arrangement to get which she refused after giving him piece of her mind. Then life happens and she retracts.

At first I despised Parker; his ways and attitude pissed me off. Alice was a totally different story. She wasn't the wallflower that I thought she would be. She had a backbone and held her own.

When their facade started to turn into something more I started to love Parker. He treated Alice like she was the only woman on the planet. Alice self esteem wasn't the best but that never stopped her from loving Parker.

There was a moment that was very emotional and your heart will go out to both of them especially Alice. She's so strong even after all the tragedy she has suffered. And Parkers parents, little sister and his best friends were oh my amazing!!

Loved the HEA!!

This is the second novel by Holly and I have to say that I loved it more than the first and I really did love that.

Parker is a playboy heir to a multimillion dollar company and an all round jackass. He thinks because he has money hes above everyone else. When his father tells him he either settles down and his playboy ways or he loses the opportunity to take over the company when he retires, he can think of only one thing to do ... ask a random stranger to marry him.

Alice is a waitress working all the hours she can so that she can ensure her grandmother remains in the private nursing home. When the manager tells her that her grandmothers care has turned terminal and will cost $30,000 dollars to remain in their care, she doesnt know what to do. So when Parker offers her this deal, she takes it.

Naturally as time progresses and incidents are dealt with, they find themselves falling in love. But can there be a trusting relationship that was essentially built on lies.

Well can there?

Well people, you're just going to have to preorder and read the book. No spoilers from me, no siree.

I loved Parker, even arsehole Parker. There was something likeable and something that drew you in from the off. Even as I say, him being an arsehole. I love alpha guys like these who have redeemable qualities. I'm going to be honest and say I wasn't keen on Alice. I thought she was quite a sap, too quick to judge and too distrusting. I understand why and it will be explained as you read but she really grated on me

Parker and Alice together though. Instant chemistry. The tension building was just right, not too long. I hate when books go on and on.

This Thing Between Us is a sweet read. I enjoyed it immensely and I look forward to more to come from this author.

Happy Reading :-)

My heart reeled with emotion during this book as I felt like Alice myself, and Parker was my supposed to be happily ever after.

Alice's life was complicated. She gave up everything pretty much to take care of her ill grandmother. Keeping her in a safe environment was her top priority.

Parker was a smart, well to do playboy, who'd been allowed to live his life according to his rules until his father decided enough enough. There came a point in his life where becoming a grown up suited the family image more than his single way of life, which at times put the family reputation on the line.

So Parker was given an ultimatum. His mother was going to match him with a suitable woman, but Parker would have no part in being paired with the stiff, Stepford-ish wives of the country club life his mother had in mind for the rest of his days on this earth. NO WAY!

So Parker struck a deal with his father. He'd settle down, get married, but only on his terms, his choosing.

In comes Alice the cute waitress at the coffee shop.

After approaching Alice with the idea. At first she refused, but circumstances with her grandmother forced her decision with Parker.

Once the two got together, their whirlwind relationship became a category five hurricane.

Parker did unspeakable things at to Alice at first that personally I'd want to open the balcony doors, blindfold him, then guide him in the direction of said balcony, then say keep walking ... yes a little further. Perfect. He was cruel!

But, as time went on Parker saw in Alice things he wanted, things he'd missed, things he was scared to have. She was everything he'd ever wanted.

Alice at first thought Parker was her dream come true, then humiliated by him to the point of nausea, then forced to be with him due to financial constraints, then once again drawn to Parker by his heart and the person she saw hiding deep within the layers of pain behind his hidden persona Parker put on.

Through a few set backs, and emergencies, life had away of bringing these two together.

Their two souls met in a clash of beauty, a force of passion that had been hiding and waiting to find each other like two children counting down from five then yelling out loud, COME FIND ME in a game of Hide & Seek.

They're relationship blossomed into true beauty, with an erotic naughtiness, sexy fun, and witty banter.

They were absolutely made for each other. This was a true Cinderella meets her Prince, but in modern day.

I absolutely loved this book. It's one you should not miss. Parker and Alice left you craving for more.

I voluntarily read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book I have read by Holly C. Webb and I would consider myself a fan of her work. This book was different from the first book I read by her and therefore I am enjoying seeing her talent spread-out with each book she writes.

The synaposis describes this book perfectly. Parker O’Neill is a spoiled rich boy who is used to getting his way. His playboy status is well deserved. But if he wants to take over his father’s business he must concede to his parent’s wishes and settle down. Alice is a hard working waitress whose only responsibility is to her grandmother who is in a nursing home. Grams is the only family that Alice knows so she believes Grams’ well- being and happiness are hers to take care of. When Parker offers Alice the contract/deal of a lifetime—will she resist or take full advantage of what he is offering? Or will something more develop?

This book had everything I look for in a book. The characters were well-developed as well as having their own separate storylines. The editing was good. And most of all, after I read the last page I wanted to read more of this story. I would also like to read more about Parker and Alice’s friends stories as well. All of the characters blended well together and I do hope to read more by Holly in the near future. Well done!

I loved this book!! This was my first read of Holly Webb and I am now hooked!! The story was sweet, and the characters were well-developed. Both desperate for different reasons. Both needing to meet an obligation for different results. Parker, the rich, arrogant playboy has been given an ultimatum. One, that if not met, will mean he loses it all. Alice, has found herself faced with an insurmountable financial issue. One, that if not met, could mean the life of someone she loves. Together, both their problems can be solved. But at what cost? Can they keep it all business? Can they play the part? Will their hearts get in the way and ruin them both? I highly recommend this one!! Trust me, you won't be able to put it down!!

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and goodness, it will not be the last! Parker has been groomed his whole life to take over his father’s business, but his playboy ways are giving him a bad rep. He is given an ultimatum that he finds a nice girl, and is married in 3 months. Alice has given up everything to look after her Grandma. Will they be the solution to both of their problems? No spoilers, give this one a go for yourself, you will not be disappointed!
This is a well written storyline, and flows effortlessly. I was hooked from the very beginning. I look forward to reading more of this authors work, and I recommend for all readers.

Parker’s father tells him to settle down to keep the family business. Parker does the only thing he can think he decides to find a complete stranger to marry. Alice is a waitress just trying to make ends meet, and keep her Grandmother in her private nursing home. Parker propositions her with marrying him for a million dollars; she ends up taking it. Along the way they both fall in love with each other; their love enough to make them stay married? Parker and Alice have amazing chemistry. He’s just enough of an ass, and Alice stands up to him every time she needs to. I enjoyed this book very much, and can’t wait to see what the author publishes next.

This is my first book by Ms Webb.
It was a good story which I enjoyed. Parker was a bit of an douche at times, and Alice kinda let him walk all over her. At first. Until she'd had enough. I liked how Parker let his true self come out in the end.

This Thing Between Us-ARC Review
I have to say, I didn't care much for Parker, our rich playboy in the beginning. Holly did a real good job of making him a shallow, spoiled, and all around unhero (I know that's so not a word) but as I read through the book and got to know her characters, Parker and Alice, she changed my mind. Alice was way too nice for him and I liked the way Holly brought them together. I really enjoyed their story.
This is the 2nd ARC I've done for her and I enjoyed doing them both. They are a couple of really great reads if you're into modern day romance and bringing 2 people together with different backgrounds with a little steam thrown in.

This book was great!! I couldn't get enough of it! It brought out so many emotions. I was happy, sad, furious, heartbroken and in love all rolled into a couple hundred pages. The characters were very well developed, the story was clear and it was such a original love story. One of my favorites that I've read in a while. This book will have you crying and loving in no time!

Parker O’Neill is a spoiled rich boy, who is used to getting what ever he wants. If Parker wants to take over the family business he HAS to change his parting, Playboy ways. He decides to give his parents what they want, but on his terms. Can this playboy settle down?

Alice is a sweet, hard working waitress. She was raised by her grandmother, after her parents were killed. Now she's wanting to take care of her grandmother by having her in the best nursing home. When money becomes an issue, how will Alice get it together for her grandmother?

Parker offers Alice a deal of sorts.  Marry him, be his wife on paper only and he'll give her the money she desperately needs. Will more develop for them?

Holly gave us EVERYTHING we could want in this book. I was on an emotional rollercoaster. The ups and downs, twists and turns. I was sooooo angry at Parker. Especially on their wedding night. Ugh! But then.... He totally SWOONED me. I fell for him just as Alice did. I devoured This Thing Between Us in one setting.
I didn't want their story to end!!!  And I sooooo hope Holly gives us more from Parker's friends! I'd love to see this as a series!! Another FANTASTIC read from the talented Holly Webb!

He was a wealthy playboy, she was a waitress struggling to support her grandmother. An offer of convenience for both turns into something more than he expected. Emotions cause turmoil and the wrong words said, can they get past it??? I loved Alice from the start. Parker was a different story, I really disliked him at first, but then I grew to love him. Holly Webb has delivered another fantastic book! Can't wait to see more from her.

This is the first time I've read anything by this author and I'm so glad I took the chance!! Absolutely fell in love with these characters! You know it's good when you stay up past midnight to finish!!

Parker was looking forward to taking over his fathers company when he retired in 6 months. It's what he has worked so hard for...but his bachelor life has earned him some majorly bad press. There are questions on whether he's the man for the job.

Alice is a sweet and caring girl who works as a waitress at a coffee shop and she takes care of her grandmother.

Parker's father gives him a ultimatum...find a nice girl and get married in 3 months or he will not get his dad's company. He runs into Alice at the coffee shop and later realizes she is the perfect girl for his plan....paying someone to marry him. Alice agrees to his plan figuring he can help her out too.

He wished he could go back to this morning, wake up again and discover this whole day had been a bad dream. He also wished his parents would see how ridiculous this whole idea was.

Parker was a complete jerk in the beginning. There were many times I wanted to slap him and tell him off. I can't believe how much Alice put up with! He figured she'd just be his arm candy at special events to show his parents he'd settled down. She decided enough was enough until something unexpected happened which was a game changer for one of them...

She stared at him for a moment, as so many thoughts ran through her mind. She knew she was playing with fire, but she didn’t care if she got burnt.
“Okay,” she whispered.

I loved Alice, she was so amazing in the beginning with all the crap Parker put her through. She truly believed Parker has a good side he was just afraid to show it. Was Alice right about him or was he really that selfish and just worried about himself?

I truly loved this story, I loved watching Parker and Alice together. Plus I loved seeing each of them change through the story. The major question here is...Will Parker get what he wants in the long run? Or did he screw it up before it even started? Will Alice be able to live with herself for agreeing to marry Parker for money? Is there a HEA at the end? Or is there just room for heart break and disaster?

I adored this book and read it from start to finish in the one sitting.

We meet Parker O'Neill son of the CEO of O'Neill's International he has everything a man could want for in life. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, privately educated. good looking, has money and is a big hit with the ladies. Parker has a reputation as a player as there is never any shortage pf beautiful women who would love to be seen with Parker but is it him they want or his money?. Parker's father is due to stand down as CEO and pass the reign over to Parker but this hasn't particularly gone down well with the board room as they see Parker has a jumped up spoilt rich kid who is to immature to take control of O'Neill's International. With this in mind Parker's father sets his playboy son a ultimatum if he wants to be the new CEO. Parker must give up his partying lifestyle find a decent girl and get married in a certain time scale failure in doing so will result in the position being offered to someone else. Will someone like Parker O'Neill be able to give up his ways??

Parker must first find a girl that will go along with his plan to do a sham marriage and he will pay the lady a fair amount of money in return. Step forward Alice Whitman, Alice is a selfless hardworking waitress who has crossed paths with Parker and he decides she will be the girl to approach her about this business deal.

Alice's parents are both dead so Alice knows better than anyone what it is like to lose everything. Since her parents died she has been living and being cared for by her Granny Sophia. Sophia is currently in a nursing home due to her health decline. Since her parents death Alice's life has revolved around working and spending time with her gran, when she is told that in order for her grand to remain in the nursing home it is going to cost Alice a lot more money. With this in mind Alice reluctantly decides to take Parker up on his offer.

You the reader sense Parker and Alice trying their hardest to maintain this facade of a marriage and face the adversities they soon start to encounter pure, genuine true feelings for one and another.

You will just have to read their story to see if they get a happily ever after.

Holly is a new Author but damn good. This is her second book and I loved it more than the first which I didn't think possible.
Alice. A waitress in a coffee shop working as much as she can to pay for her Grams care home bills.
Parker a playboy billionaire. Set to inherit his fathers company, however the board are not happy with Parkers lifestyle so he gets an ultimatum from Daddy. Settle down with a wife picked by his Mother or lose his inheritance.
Parker decides to pay a woman to marry him.
BANG. THE EPIC STORY BEGINS.
Join Parker and Alice in this amazing read. Real page turner. I laughed. I cried. I LOVED IT

I absolutely loved this story! Alice is a beautiful woman inside and out. Parker is a rascal that I had a really hard time liking in the beginning, but he was completely redeemed latter in the story. This is one of those stories that grabs you from the beginning and you can’t put it down until you find out what happens next. The characters were so lovable and will stay with you for some time to come. I seriously can’t say enough good things about this book.

It's a marriage of convenience, so of course I read it. And it was decently written enough so yeah, I finished it. But between how much of an asshole Parker was - without really earning his growth, I think - and how many times they broke up and made up - especially in the beginning - it was all too just... there, for me. It wasn't bad, just wasn't anything great either.
