A reminder of why I love Harlequin Blaze so much! Wonderful characters who jump off the page, hot steamy sex, and a great plot!

My Thoughts:
I loved this book, it made me feel that warm feeling that a true romance will make you feel. Lauren was a woman trying to find herself and although she was not a in your face heroine she had a strength about her even though she has a sweet temperment. Brett is a hero who wasn't afraid to admit his feelings to himself and wasn't afraid to connect with a woman after being hurt. I loved this spin on a romance.
3.5 stars and a recommendation to give "pickup" this book and give it a spin
Listened to the book on Audio: Loved the narrator.

My Thoughts: I listened to the book as an audiobook but I purchased it as an ebook too. The audiobook is HORRIBLE. Hear me when I say...HORRRIBLE. The narrator is just awful, especially when she is doing the male voices. ACK...Pass on the audiobook and read the book.
Despite my contempt for the audiobook, this was an okay story. It wasn't stellar but it was a fairly enjoyable read to kill a few hours. Brett is super hot and who doesn't love a cowboy :).
Lauren Baker was in a bad seven year marriage to a manipulative control freak. Now that she's free of him, she decides that the thing to do is roam the country and start fresh somewhere. Brett Wallace owns a good ranch and has decided to settle down. Too bad the bride was doing the best man just before the wedding ceremony. Of course Lauren picks up the cowboy along side the road and decides to release her inner sex goddess. Of course they'll be together from now on.
After reading the book's summary, I thought I was getting a very different book than the one that I read - not that that was a bad thing! Pick Me Up is a sweet story told in a straightforward fashion. The romantic tension resolved way too quickly, however, and the last third of the book felt like Hunter just needed to throw something in there. A good read, all in all.
This is a heart-wrenching story of betrayal and second chances. Lauren and Brett are both "damaged goods" when they are thrown together by fate, and tentatively learn to trust each other while exploring the white-hot passion that binds them from the start. The attraction is hot, and the romance is tentative and sweet - another perfectly blended novel from Samantha Hunter.
This is one of the best Harlequins that I've read in a long time. It's sweet, charming and has a lot of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I wasn't a fan of cowboys until this book, but now I want my own. :)
