Who hasn't uttered the words "I need to learn to relax"? But how accurate is that catchphrase? Being relaxed is not a personality trait - it's a set of learned skills. In Simply Relax, physical and mental disciplines are presented in a clear and friendly fashion, complete with color illustrations, to show readers how to attain this often elusive state. By offering a repertoire of approaches that combine Eastern and Western techniques, Simply Relax teaches the art of patience, calm thinking, time management, and inner peace, so the reader can learn to enjoy life's pleasures and keep worries in perspective. Beautifully illustrated and filled with inspiring advice, it is a complete guide to realizing the potential for feeling at ease with oneself and others.
This is a good basic guide on maintaining a more holistic approach to life. The illustrations were beautiful, but it was a little too simple for me because my life’s passion is holistic living.
Overall, I tried a few exercises. I am familiar with your breathing. Hearing a soothing voice. Taking nice baths with aromas filling the air, but really liked the area on the stressors caused from work environment.
I even read parts of a chapter and used the exercise with book club group to change the atmosphere, to be more calm, and relaxed. It helped those who really wanted to engage and participate.
It was colorful, insightful, and helpful.
Disclaimer: I borrowed a copy from work to read and give my honest opinion of the book.
