Journeying through city steam rooms, rugged North Wales mountains, and estuaries facing other places, this collection examines the lives of young men making daring choices—about risky sex, new romance, and status and belief. These sensual stories by a prize-winning author reveal a lucid prose, etched with echoes of the sea.
A very short, but absolutely delightful collection of stories. It might seem like cliched or cheap tactics to praise it thoroughly for its Welshness but the author is Welsh, these stories (and all of the author's writings I have read) have been centered in or involve characters from Wales and it is both a strength and a pleasure to read an author who is so thoroughly from somewhere else then one of the major gay metropolises. I am afraid I may sound patronizing, really don't want to make it sound like Mr. Jones is some nice 'ethnic' curiosity of a writer, he isn't and what he says is universal - which is why I am not surprised he has won and American library award.
If anything I have said should make you think twice about reading this collection then I have failed, I want as many people as possible to read this books and all the others by Mr. Jones which, in time I hope to review as well.
