This was my first-year Spanish textbook, and I used it (I still refer to it!) as a reference throughout my entire degree in Spanish.

It's a decent enough Spanish textbook, but I still had to explore numerous other books and online sources to understand complicated topics, like using the subjunctive mood. Some parts built well on prior topics, but others seemed out of order. The vocabulary is not pleasing to look at, the illustrations outdated and amateurish, and there are odd vocab words thrown into each theme. What do fruit trees have to do with the body and health? The online eSam homework has flaws in it time to time too, like telling you your answer is incorrect, when it should be correct. The "Dictado" lab is nearly impossible to understand with native speakers rapidly talking and rolling words together. ¡Hable despacio, por favor! Some of the exercises both in print and online have no "modelos" so you're left guessing what to do.
