Providing answers to a number of questions posed by young dragonologists, this book features facts and information on the fire-breathing mythical beasts.
i read this book several times as a child the art is beautiful and the whole thing is incredible it’s an encyclopaedia of all the dragons from around the world
I found this little book adorable. I was 11 when I read this, and I was really into all the books on dragons. I got this after reading dragonology, and back then both were amazing, but looking back I can see a few things that make it not quite as perfect as it used to seem.
It did perfectly what it aimed to do, expand the imagination of children, and after reading I wanted to find a dragon egg and rear up my own baby dragon. Just looking back over it and I realise how slightly patronising the language is, which I didn't quite pick up on as a child, but I would say overall it's okay but to a child it is brilliant.
Mostly nostalgia talking but I loved this book as a child and didn't think anything could be as perfect.
It's still quite fun to read through though it is definitely aimed at a younger audience. But I would highly recommend if you really want to read it do, it's quite short and mainly filled with pictures.
I always did love the way the dragons were illustrated in this book, and I would always try and copy them when I was younger. It's just a shame some anti-Semitism has snuck into the drawings when portraying the "Shady Dragon Dealer" who steals back dragon eggs to make profit...
It told us a lot about dragon care. There were different types of eggs we could do and different types of breeds. Dr Drake, the author, has got a dragon named Torcher. I'm going to make a knuckler dragon (the knuckler is the dragon with the long neck). I think Kerry would love the knuckler because it's so cutey. I saw a dragon who laid such a cool egg. It was called the lung dragon. It had a ball shaped egg that went in water.
Bought on Sat 1/21/17 from the library for $1. Was glad to learn i did not have this book already. =0) I am collecting all dragonology volumes. Feel these are good resource material for fantasy writing on dragons.
Cute and quick to read with truly beautiful illustrations which capture the imagination. A few witty comments and all round a lovely little book to own if you like Dragons!
