This was cute in a "Chicken Soup for the Soul" kind of way. I heard the author speak and she was fantastic. I'm afraid some of her voice is lost in her written work, though.

First time reading a memoir at least voluntarily. I don’t have much to say really besides that I this book was really very sweet, since it’s a memoir there were times where it was hard for me to willingly pick it back up, since there obviously isn’t a continuous story line, which is why it took me so long to initially get in to, but every time I did pick it up I wasn’t ever mad that I did. Oh and I loveddd every time God was mentioned!! <3

I enjoyed this book much more than I expected to. I don't normally read memoir types of books, but Shirley was coming in to speak to our group.
This book was fantastic! There were so many childhood references that I could relate to, it felt like I knew her before I actually met her. No, I didn't grow up in the south, but that didn't matter, because the emotion was so poignant and I related to that. And her characters were appealing- favorite girlfriends, crazy relatives.
Loved it, just loved it!

This is a cute and fun book. Some of the stories reminded me of my family (particularly my cousins and me) when we were younger and of our similar adventures. There are touching moments and laugh-out-loud moments. I read it every chance I got and enjoyed it more than I originally thought i would!

Heart-warming stories from a woman who was adopted at age 4 into a loving Christian family in rural Georgia. Lots of good old, bless your heart Southern humor too.
