On the way to the Teddy Bear's Picnic, Tony nearly loses his toy rabbit in the train station, and worries that a teddy rabbit won't be welcome at the picnic.

One of my all-time childhood faves! The first book I read that prominently featured a Canadian setting, written by two now-classic Canadian creators. This one was a big inspiration for my picture book, Teddy Bear of the Year.
This is one of my all time favourite children's books. The story follows Tony and his stuffed rabbit as they make their way to the Teddy Bear's Picnic at Toronto's Centre Island. Tony has concerns about whether Rabbit will be accepted at a picnic for teddy bears, and struggles with the fear of losing his beloved stuffed animal along the way. I think all young children with a special stuffed animal of their own can appreciate this book and relate to Tony's feelings. The illustrations in the book are as sweet as the story.
