I loved reading this series and I finally got around to reading how Tyler and Tommy met. This was the beginning of the series "Love Slave for two" Tyler came from England on a scholarship to USF he also taught at the school. Tyler also realized that he is attracted to males and females. Tommy also went to USF although him and Tyler didn't run into each other. In this book we find out all of the things that Tyler went through his experience with BDSM and his marriages to One and Two and his relationship with Marcus who we met in one of the books. This was a well written book like all of Tymber's books and I loved reading it and although I read this book after I read the serious I still loved to read about what happened to Tyler and how he came to the US and how Nevvie became their housekeeper.

After having read 'Love Slave for Two', which featured Thomas, Tyler, and Nevvie, I was excited to find this prequel. The author must've gotten so much love about the two men, she decided to go back and write their story. I, for one, am happy she did. I wanted to see them meet, and fall in love, and become the strong couple who I fell for.

The author began this book with Tommy starting college, and Tyler moving to America to accept a scholarship to study. The beginning portions, i.e. Tyler's marriage and divorce, and Thomas's dad dying, were addressed but not fixated on, which was good, in my opinion. The author gave me enough background and detail for these first years of their respective lives, to give me a better understanding of who these men are, and how their experiences shaped who they became. My heart broke for Tyler as his wife rejected him, and when he finally discovered he was submissive and enjoyed taking care of someone, he was thrown away, again. It explains so much about his future responses.

I loved seeing Tyler and Tommy meet for the first time, when Tyler was doing an author reading at a local bookstore. The sparks were definitely there! Tommy figures nothing is going to come from this meeting, since why would Tyler be interested in a broke grad student? Ah, Tommy, you're everything Tyler needs, and you're the one to give him the love he so desperately wants. It was so freaking adorable to watch Tyler take Tommy on a date to a hockey game…since Tyler knows nothing about hockey. *grins* I adored watching these two men fall in love.

Thank you, Tymber, for this lovely prequel which gave me a wonderful look at how it all began.

As we all have our own personal favourites in the mm genre, I hesitate to give this such a poor review as this was definitely not my cup of tea, but I'm sure one that many in the mm romance group could enjoy. For fans of this author, please don't continue reading this, as I know you won't like it, but I'll keep my review as much as possible to the writing style not the content.

I felt that if the author were wanting to explore m/m with m/m/f then it should have been done with a little more depth, rather than the two brief encounters which I felt were haphazaard.

Also, if the author wants to change POV, between the two main characters, I would have preferred it to be done consistently, rather than touching on Tommy's character in the beginning and then leaving him for most of the book and re-introducing him near the end.

I can't say that the BDSM did anything for me, as it didn't enter as part of the intimacy of the relationship between the two main characters, but played as a background for the hurt that Tyler experienced. Although I am not a keen reader of heavy BDSM and probably not the right person to ask, is this really what people want to demonstrate of this lifestyle?

Unfortunately the story as a whole did not flow for me, there were some details thrown in without any follow through which left the reader saying "what the..." as to the relevance of such side stories.

4.5 out of 5. This is where it all began ... an architectural student and a famous writer--two men who had dated and certainly were attracted to women, but who found that their attraction to one another superceded anything they had ever experienced. This story has been written because the fans of their "marriage" later on in their lives wanted to know how these two got together. It is a really wonderful M/M love story and one that makes the subsequent stories of how their "family" came together so much more meaningful. These two guys are separated by age and certainly are two totally different personalities, but their love for each other bridges all the gaps and overcomes all the challenges. It is really a delightful love story.

This was a wonderful look back at how Tyler met Thomas. What a great steamy love story.

Tyler had a rough time finding someone to love who could really appreciate his submissive nature. His 2 female wives were horrible and his experience with Marcus was troubling.

I really enjoyed Tyler's exploration of the BDSM culture. He meets a few nice people (Ray, Oot and kitten) but they aren't interested in any commitments.

I kind of melted a little when Thomas falls head over heels for Tyler...so sweet.

This is where it all started ... Thomas and Tyler. This back history prequel to Love Slave for Two was enlightening. I like Thomas and Tyler even more. I felt badly for Tyler with his crazy ex-wife. It was a nice beginning.

I loved the first book I read of this series - Love Slave for Two by Tymber Dalton . But as I read the follow-ups....I slowly fell out of love with the series.

The first book was great because Nevvie was super sweet, and the perfect addition to Tyler and Tommy's relationship. The second book Love Slave for Two Family Matters (Love Slave for Two, #2) by Tymber Dalton was all about medical emergencies with the guys, Nevvie was still sweet but she had turned into a bit of a nag, and her a-hole ex-boyfriend, from the first book, had somehow wormed his way into the second book. The third book Love Slave for Two Reunions (Love Slave for Two, #3) by Tymber Dalton was about a road trip across America, Nevvie was super annoying, there were more medical emergencies, and again her a-hole ex-boyfriend had somehow snuck into the story.

This is the prequel to the series. Basically, two-thirds of it is Tyler's story, and the rest is devoted to the unremarkable start of Tyler's relationship with Tommy, and their subsequent introduction to Nevvie. There was very little about Tommy and the couple's relationship is glossed over, much to my disappointment. It's not a bad story...it's just not great. I think "knowing" the characters definitely made this book more enjoyable than it would otherwise have been, so I would recommend at least reading the first book of the series, before reading this one.

There is a fourth book Love Slave for Two Reckoning (Love Slave for Two, #4) by Tymber Dalton , but I currently have no intentions of reading that one. I can't see myself enjoying any more stories about Nevvie, the aging threesome, and their growing brood.

This was a really enjoyable series.

I ended up not leaving home for 2 days so I could finish it.

The characters have a way of creeping into your heart and all the sexy times they had sure
wasn't a hardship to get through! This one being especially sexy

There were times I loved them individually and together and others
where I wanted to take turns and slap them......hard (there may have been some
swearing involved)but I thoroughly loved it.

I was sad to finish and hope there will be more!!

I came to this series after it had been written for a while. I can tell you, I love this book. I fell for Thomas and Tyler quickly. Like any good love story you go through the good and bad times with them. I can't wait to start the next book and see where they go in life.

Loved the first two in the series and it was so enjoyable to revisit the characters in this prequel about Ty and Tommy. By the end I was ready to re-read the first two!

Knowing Thomas and Tyler's story, understanding their past and what made them who they are in the present was a great presentation. A great plot that delivers everything and without getting tiring. ✨

I enjoyed understanding Tyler's past relationships, how he became the famous writer and in the midst of it all found love in Thomas.
Thomas was the refreshment that Tyler's heart needed and Tayler is the love that Thomas craved. ♥️🔥

It's a complete story that offers a glimpse into their history and connects the reader on a personal level with the characters. I loved the construction of each moment. 💖

Wish I had realized this book existed before I read Love Slave for Two, but maybe not, because it gives me an excuse to read that wonderful story again. Although I think, and will soon verify, there is probably some overlap between the two books, because if remember correctly Nevvie was introduced and hired in Love Slave for Two, and she's hired at the end of this book.

I love the way this builds and then twists. There is NO ONE who is able to do this like Tymber. The way she bought the boys together, my heart went out to Ty, poor guy. Glad that he found Tommy and now Nevvie. Cant wait to get to the next one.

One thing I didn’t like was the skips we moved from four months to two years. Liked it nonetheless.

This is the prequel to Love Slave for Two.

My first book from this author. This was a pretty good book. I liked the kink scenes.

Did not like Marcus, he was an ass. I was glad he was only in a short part of the book. I like that Ray and Oot have safe words and it seems they care. It was a bummer that Tyler couldn't get in a relationship with them. At least he found Thomas. They were a good match and had good chemistry.

Let me just say, if you plain on reading this book then plan on making an investment. Not an emotional investment. A time investment.

Much of the book is spent going over stuff that I honestly, didn't give a shit about. A lot of the book could have easily been condensed down into half of what it was and still gotten all the information across.

But This is a "Prequel" so I didn't judge it that harshly because of all the back story and such.

I judged it on HOW the writer told the story.

Even though you're given a lot of information, none of it was interesting or captivating. Some scenes showed how Tommy/Tyler ended up the people they are and how they ended up together but about 70% of it was just really unnecessary. I had to FORCE myself to continue on not because I was interested or invested in the characters but because the second book aka THE FIRST BOOK in the actual series just sort of starts. There's no real beginning. The actual beginning is at the end of the Prequel.

By the time I realized this (after about 60 pages in I jumped ahead), I'd already invested too much time and brain power chugging through those first 60 pages (and there WERE a few interesting scenes) so I kept going.

That and there was these strange time jumps that don't really tell you how much time has passed. In one paragraph someone meets a girl and then the next they're married and then the next they're divorced or in one paragraph someone moves into an apartment and then in the next they're in a home they've obviously been in awhile. YET there was no definitive "i've been married to this person for so and so years" or "i moved into this house 4 years ago". It was kind of unnerving and threw me off more than once to the point where I just got really annoyed by it. It's hard to follow a story that just jumps chronologically like that without warning or explanation.

Then there was the inconsistent and wacky changes of POV. It starts of switching back and forth between Tommy and Tyler's point of view then it stops showing Tommy's POV completely and only does Tyler's. Then out of no where there'd be a random chapter with Tommy's POV. It was inconsistent and was, yet again, another thing that kept threw me off.

The writing's ok but there were a lot of inconsistent and all over the place stuff that just made it really hard to enjoy the story. A lot of stuff could have been taken out and a lot of stuff could have been done to it to make it more enjoyable. Obviously, this person has no editor or the editor fucking sucks.

What I guess I'm trying to say is read the book if you REALLY REALLY want to understand what happens in the other books later on and to get a better sense of who Tyler/Tommy are. There's a lot of good stuff in this book it's just executed in a very haphazard or novice way. Had i not been mildly interested in the story already (as well as a whole day to do nothing), I wouldn't have given it the time of day.

This is not the normal kind of book I would go for. But when I seen the cover I thought it looked very interesting, if ya know what I mean.
This books runs around Thomas and Taylor both living there lives unsure of there sexuality. Tyler experiments with other guys, and finds its what he likes and he trys lots of different things with this guy and he falls in love with him, then one day the guy lets him down and walks away. Tyler doesn't think he will ever love again till he meets Thomas.
Thomas only boy in a large family of girls, struggles to fit in, spending his school life dating girls, an knowing it wasn't for him. he moves away from home and he comes across Tyler and then the sparks fly because these two are on fire. you spend the book getting to know these to and if your anything like me you will fall in love with them both. I so wouldn't mind being the girl in the middle of these two. This then brings me to Neevie she becomes there cleaner and Thomas and Tyler decide they want to keep her *wink* but this leads you to book two, so I wont spill any more there.
This book is full of BDSM, Public Exhibition and M/M, M/M/M, with M/M/M/F. so as you can see lots of fun to be had. lol.

I loved this story because we got to see the beginning of Tyler and Thomas as an item and how they fell in love. I also appreciated to read and learn more about their pasts, even if reading about Tyler nearly broke my heart. I felt so sad for him, what he went through, and it made me even more happy for him to have found Thomas. I was surprised to see him so submissive and fragile, I did not really like this side of him, as I prefer Alpha men, but still I enjoyed the story, I really loved it from the moment the two boys met.

I read this book after reading the first tome of Love Slave for Two, I don't know if I would have loved it that much without knowing Ty and Tom as a solid couple of 12 years. I am glad I did not read it first, it made me enjoy this prequel even more.

I recommend it for all the ones who fell in love with Ty and Thomas in Love Slave for Two and want to see how they got together.

I haven't read the rest of the books of the series since I actually saw the ad for this one and decided to start the series at the beginning. Because I knew this was a prequel for a latter series of story I didn't expect it to be as fleshed out or to have as much of the relationship that you would expect from the main stories in the series. This was what I expected a quick peak at the past of the characters so that you can see their development in the rest of the series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. I think the whole point is to see that Tommy really had no strong relationship except his friendships and how strong that friendship colored his feelings on abuse. Tyler's exploration of his sexuality without fulfilling his need for relationship also molds him and makes him able to comprise for the sake of love.

This is a great prequel to the Love Slave For Two books, focusing mainly on Tyler and the experiences that led up to him meeting Tommy. There's some Thomas love too, but Ty definitely gets the lion's share. I'm pretty sure I spotted a couple crossover characters from Safe Harbor in the BDSM section, which was fun to see, and I especially enjoyed seeing the build up to Nevvie's entrance into their lives from the boys' point of view.

This is a definite must-read for any fan of the Love Slave For Two books! I think you can realistically read it at any point in the series. Yes, it's technically a prequel, but having read the other books will give you more context and understanding about some of the events.

5 Love Slave for Two: Stars

I have read book one 2 times I believe and thought why not give this one a chance.

I am so glad I did, this tells us the story of how Tyler and Thomas meet and fall in love.

It shows us how they each come to find and love Nevvie.
It was such a great beginning of how they both struggle with who they are. Who they wanted to be and how they want to live there life.

I loved Tyler’s heart he is so guarded because of his past relationships.

And Tommy learns to trust what his feelings are telling him.

I <3 this book. And I enjoyed the narration :)

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Although this is the prequel in the Love Slave for Two series I read it after the first two books and I think it worked out better. This is about Tyler and Thomas and how they get together. Found I was really frustrated with Tyler having 2 marriages and was hurrying him along to meet Tommy! Loved how all the characters in the next 2 books get an introduction in this one too...I like Pete and Eddie :-)

This is a great series and I for one cant wait till the next book is out at the end of the month!!

I just can't give this a glowing review. I would have given it 3 stars, if the last chapter had been left off, and the story had ended without jumping forward 12 years and introducing Nevvie. The best part of the story was when Tommy and Tyler got together. Which was not the largest part of the story. So my emotions were not engaged for over the first half of the story. And the ending totally blew it. I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Like Love Slave for 2 and family matters--Beginnings is a great book and you definately need to read it. It gives another layer of understanding to the characters.. I see them in a whole new light.

With all my reviews--I do not analyze how it's written etc... I only know that I'v read it 2 times on Kindle and then had to buy it in paperback. It was a nice long read and kept me entertained and interested.

Can't wait till the next volume in this series is out

This is a great beginning to a series. This book is mostly about Tyler and his move to America on to his life n relationships till he meets tommy. When I read character that are English I find that in my head they have an annoying really really bad snooty upper crust sound to them. The only word that really bothered me was "mate" when Tyler was talking. We don't usually say that word not like love. Other than that lovely HEA. Great start to the series.
