Tomuhle říkám budíček! mamka vletí do pokoje, hodí po mě knížku a prý si mám vybrat, jaký klobouček/čepici mi má udělat. :D sice to mu absolutně nerozumím, je to nudné čtení. Nechápu k čemu mi bude čepice, když zima končí a tak dále...
Jak tohle má člověk ohodnotit. No co, vezmu to jako komix :D taky jsem si prohlížela obrázky :D

I recently bought some chunky weight yarn and wanted a small knitting project to make something with it. At the library I stumbled across this book. There are a lot of hat patterns, but most of them I would never wear. They are just too bizarre looking.

That being said, there were a couple of cute patterns and one that was perfect for the yarn I bought. There was a cloche hat, a sequined headband, and a few simple yet interesting patterns involving two different colors of yarn. This book is perfect if you want to knit something over a weekend, or a cool handmade gift for someone.

I am currently making the "Skeptical" hat pattern, although I plan to leave off the visor (the pattern is knitted top down). So far so good... it's knitting up fairly quickly. Let's just hope I got the gauge close enough that it fits me!

Hattitude is an amazing, beautiful, inspiring book with a TON of hats. Hats are so cool and versatile, you can wear one almost anywhere, and with all the patterns in here, there is literally a hat for every occasion: formal diner to snow day, university lecture to yard work. Hattitude has a hat for everyone.

The patterns themselves vary in yarn type and needle size, so between the various patterns that you catch yourself drooling over and the millions of kinds of yarn in the world, you’re pretty much set for life. If you find that you don’t have the needles you need, you’ll probably have a second choice (possibly a third or a fourth etc) to make to hold you over while you get those other needles because of all the awesome hats in here.

The hats range in all kinds of yarn: cashmere, wool, acrylic, chunky, chenille, that bumpy nubby stuff, and wool for felting. Some have cool décor like beads, sequins, ribbon, buttons, appliqués, giant buckles, and pearls. And some are more simple, with a few color combos, or some pattern work.

There are patterns for all levels, too! You have to be the judge of what you can or can’t do, though, since it doesn’t outright tell you “beginner level” or “advanced level,” but as a knitter it’s pretty easy to tell if you can do something. Read the pattern. If it doesn’t make a bit of sense, get help or pick another and come back to that one two years from now. Some patterns have only simple increasing and decreasing, some have some more advanced shaping and cables, and some have some complicated lace work.

As far as the layout of the book, Each pattern has a full front face photograph on one page, and the pattern opposite with a smaller photo from a second view point, so you get a full look at what you’re making.

The only reason I’d give this one four stars rather than five is… there are also some really weird hats in here. I don’t like all of them. Some of them I’d never make, and it’s just because they’re not my style at all. Maybe they’d look good on someone else, maybe someone else will like them. The book is, again, versatile, and will please a wide range of knitters, all with different likes. The downside of that is, I don’t think anyone can be fully pleased because nobody is going to like every single pattern. However, the good outweighs the bad here: there are way more patterns that I like than patterns that I don’t like.

All in all, I’d recommend this book to any knitter who has had some experience in shaping and working on double pointed needles and circular needles. And of course, anyone who drools over hats.

Appealing:
buckled cloche, cable-edged kerchief, cashmere beret, floppy toque, Fair Isle stocking cap, two-toned tassel hat, appliqued pillbox.

There were also some shocking ugly hats.

Lot of hat knitting patterns with lots of colors and stitches if you want a diverse choice for Holiday or Birthday presents. I made 4 of the patterns at this time and they all came out just like that great photos in this book.
But be warned that you will need double pointed knitting needles in various sizes and most of the yarn sizes are Aran to Bulky. No fingering, sock or DK size yarn patterns, although I guess if you have a calculator and lots of motivation it is possible to modify the patterns, but I'm not going to do that.
As as always, you should make a gauge test before making the pattern!

I have been given some special yarn straight from Scotland. Looking for a special hat to make, this book had many nice ideas, but it did not inspire me to create any of the hats. There were several styles and difficulty levels of hats, and the patterns were designed with yarns I like and can buy locally. I think I was actually put off by the poorly executed theme of the book; the concept is clever but the adjectives do not match the hats. The resulting product takes away from the design and craft of the hats.

Not your typical hat book, though not in the good way for me. There was only one that I'd actually wear (a super cute beret), the rest were too... trendy.

What a wonderful group of hats that are fairly simple to make and written in a simple style. I look forward to trying a number of the patterns out!!

Some very cool techniques on the 40-some hats here. They're not just variations on half a dozen hats either. Interesting & innovative designs.

This is a better collection of hat patterns than any of the others I saw at Boswell Books tonight. It has many more patterns than the others, and the variety seemed more stylish than all of the others put together.

Many different gauges were used, those in chunkier yarns would work up in a couple of hours. She had colorwork, textures, some felted projects, some to knit for children, a lot that would enhance a professional woman's wardrobe or would fit on a college campus, many featuring novelty yarns.

The directions appear to me to be straightforward and easy to comprehend.

I want more free time!!! So many hats to make in this book. Wish I was cool with hat hair. Lots of hats with scarves or neck straps which I would never want, but find interesting. There is also a hat with a pony tail hole. I think I will try the cap called "determined" which is a cabled bobble type. Though I find "haughty" intriging.

It is rare that I buy a knitting book that is usually on the shelf at the Public Library. I just keep coming back to this one and choosing a different pattern. Nice variety of styles and I haven't had a problem with any of the directions.

I liked the Aloof beret 2ply cashmere. The Austere hood in bulky weight is adorable. The Cautious hood is beautiful. Most of the patterns feel a little dated. BUT they're is a good mix of over the top and traditional patterns.

Found only 3 patterns I was interested in. Has some instructions for fitting hats which seems to be lacking in a lot of sites I look at.
