Tangled up in love and in the sheets...

Gemma Turney is a walking contradiction. A short-tempered, foul-mouthed vegan yogi and environmentalist with a tongue sharp enough to bring a lesser man to his knees. Fortunately, I am not one of those men.

When we’re thrown together for a wedding, she does everything she can to get under my skin. Which works, just not in the way she’s hoping. She’s a thorn in my side that I have no interest in removing.

So it’s no surprise that one minute we're nose to nose in an argument, and the next I have her pinned against the wall.

Because keeping her mouth busy is the only way my girl is ever quiet.

Content Note: Tangled Up is an open door romance between a perfectionist engineer and a foul-mouthed vegan yogi with lots of laughs and plenty of spice. There are also discussions about death/grief over loss of parents and abortion.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this one. While I enjoyed the banter between Gem and Jason, I thought they were extremely toxic for each other. He said a lot of things that hurt her, but she took him right back after even though she was portrayed as a take no prisoners, tough woman. She flung some of her own insults at him and he either turned it back around on her or up and left. As much as some of their banter was entertaining, I don't like them as a couple.

Gemma also felt underdeveloped. She was the cliche vegan, which was unfortunate to me because the author had a really good opportunity to smash some of those stereotypes. Instead, she wrote Gemma as a condescending, holier-than-thou vegan who judged others for not following the lifestyle. I wish that Gemma would've been fleshed out more and developed a little differently.

I wasn't expecting the surprise trope at the end, but I can't say it enhanced my experience. It felt a bit contrived to me, like the author just added it in because, of course, that's the next step for every relationship, so it must be in this book. It didn't flow with me at all, and I didn't feel like it made a lot of sense with where the characters were at in their relationship.

I wanted to like this, but between the characters themselves and the liberal typos, I just couldn't get as into this as I wanted to.

would have been four but if both Gemma and Jason stopped, sat down, and actually didn't just jump to conclusions, this would've been great. There were definitely enough cute moments for me to like this though.

Gemma is a vegan yoga and art teacher, who lives her life simplified. Thrift store shopping and rides a bike to work. Jason is an engineer, working in the cooperate world, who is a little OCD when it comes to perfection. Lives life to the fullest, even if that means splurging on nice and expensive things. When they come face to face at a surprise engagement party, they could not stand each other. But somewhere deep down inside, they felt this connection.

The banter between these two characters and the love story that was slowly unfolding kept me wanting more. Gem is a free spirit and Jason not so much. But their differences is what makes them grow together. Getting to know each other instead of judging a book by its cover, makes them both realize they do have things in common but also enjoy learning their differences.
This story had real feeling emotions that made you think this was real life. The connection that developed and the way they could just be themselves really made the book that much better. I will definitely be reading Bronte's story.

Tangled up is an opposites attract love story between Gem and Jason.

I enjoyed this book a lot, mostly because of Jason. He was sweet, supportive, respectful and not afraid to go for what he wanted. Gem on the other hand, I didn’t like much. She was rude for no apparent reason and careless when she shouldn’t be, given the fact that she wasn’t prepared to face consequences.

I liked the fact that we see a normal relationship in this book, with fights that real people have and, with days without intimacy because the FMC got her period (haven’t met it so far in another book) and other stuff like that I could actually relate to and made me care more for them.

-Dual 1st person POV

Overall: 3.75/5 ⭐️ for me.

Trope(s):
✔️ Enemies to Lovers
✔️ He Falls First
✔️ Opposites Attract

Triggers:
✔️ Discussion of Grief/Death (Parents)
✔️ Abortion

Gem is unlike any other FMC that I’ve ever read about. She’s a vegan, yoga instructor, environmentalist who has no filter and will tell it to you as it is. Although there were times when she annoyed me a bit since she judged those who didn’t think or do as she did, her character development throughout the book was just perfect.
Jason is so cute! I loved how no matter how much Gemma pushed him he was there. I found it extremely sweet that he did his research and would bring Gemma vegan versions of the food he would eat so that they could eat together. I really loved how he was open to try her foods. There back and forth banter has me laughing lol. Wasn’t expecting the surprise at the end but it was cute!
And everyone needs to have a group of friends like Gemma does. Can’t wait to read Brontes story!!

This was a grumpy vs sunshine, enemies to lovers romance, that was super cute. It was one where I honestly liked both of the main characters, and could empathize with why they made the decisions that they did. I was definitely rooting for them.

Gemma is a vegan artist that likes to shop at thrift stores, has a one eyed cat, bikes everywhere and teaches yoga. Jason is next in line to be CEO at his company, drives two cars, has a big house, and likes everything just so. So when the two are thrown together at their parent figure’s wedding (Gemma’s mom, Jason’s Godfather) there are sparks everywhere. Arguing that doesn’t stop, but neither of them can figure out if they really want it to.

Cute read

💙Enemies to Lovers

Gemma is a free spirit, vegan, and a little bit hippy. She is the Maid of Honor for her mother's 4th wedding.
Jason is uptight, always on time, and needs structure. He is the best man for his godfather who raised him after his parents passed.

To say these 2 are opposites is a under statement! They get on each others nerves the whole time.... but at the end of the day there is a spark. And now that the wedding is over do they act on the spark?
You will have to read to find out 😉

This was such a cute, enjoyable read! I really liked both of the characters and felt that they were relatable in their own ways. I loved the banter between the two when they met and as their relationship progressed. Jason was so sweet and caring towards Gemma, it was swoonworthy! I loved these two and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

First, I want to begin by saying that I think calling this an enemies-to-lovers story is a stretch. Opposites attract, for sure, but not really enemies-to-lovers. I also want to add that if (SPOILER)surprise pregnancy(END SPOILER) is a trigger for you, you'll want to pass on this one.

I really enjoyed the banter between these two, but the fact that they could jab at each other and then fought so dramatically about some of the things they did just felt forced. Other than that I really enjoyed how their relationship played out.

I love the opposite attract approach, but really wish it had been more fleshed out and thought out. Gem is just a walking stereotype for vegans, with several very glaring issues that don't match up to the kind of thought processes a vegan would have. As it stands, it really gives off the vibes of a person who really can't stand vegans writing one. Jason is much more fleshed out and has a bigger personality, so I wish Gem had gotten that same amount of depth.

The story itself is good. I liked where the author took us from where we started with these characters, and was happy to see them both gain acceptance and understanding of each other. Overall I think this is a story most people would enjoy, just because of its quirkiness.

secondhand frustration

OKAY there were things about this book that I did enjoy, but I got so much secondhand frustration from the characters that it took me out of it!

I felt like they were constantly miscommunicating until the eleventh hour! It was like being stuck in the worst relationship ever and you just wanted to tell them both they were being idiots.

Overall I’d give this a 2.5 but 3 is fine

Thank goodness I found book 3 first. If I had started with this one, I never would have made it through.

Someone describing themselves as “contrarian” is like a dude you just goes, “I like to play devil’s advocate.” EVERYONE HATES YOU. She just starts hot and as a bitch, FOR WHAT? I would have matched her energy like Jason did, too. No thanks.

I got this book during one of the Stuff Your Kindle Days and this cover and storyline sounded cute, and it looked like it was going to be a fun romance. I was rooting for this to be great, but it had two major problems that I hate in books – pregnancy trope and miscommunication trope.

This book has two points of view. The first is Gemma Turney and she is a walking contradiction. She is short-tempered, foul-mouthed vegan yogi and an environmentalist with a tongue sharp enough to bring a lesser man to his knees. Unfortunately, Jason Mitchell is not one of those men. When they are thrown together for a wedding, she does everything she can to get under his skin. Which works, just not in the way she is hoping. She's a thorn in Jason’s side that he has no interest in removing. So, it’s no surprise that one minute they are nose to nose in an argument, and the next Jason has Gemma pinned against the wall.

This book started off so stronger with the enemies to lovers and the way they both have different lifestyles and didn’t like each other and now they were both the maid and man of honour at the wedding but had to work together. I loved the banter and how Jason ended up winding Gemma up on purpose because he loved pushing her buttons. I liked how the reaction was slow between the fact that they were enemies and then they were lovers, and it wasn’t done instantly from the second they got over the original conflict.

It was all going well until she got knocked up. Why ruin a perfectly good book with a pregnancy and then instead of being adult and having a conversation, they were avoiding each other, faking illnesses, being petty. I just wanted to scream at them both. Like I understand that being pregnant is scary and things but if you loved and trusted your partner then I don’t get why it was hidden.

I’m assuming the other books in the series are to do with the girls that we met in the friendship group which I'm intrigued to read about as they sound fun and cool from the few chapters, we saw with the friends together.

Tangled Up is a fun enemies to lover and opposites attract romance. I loved the tug of war in Gemma and Jason's relationship. And how the resolved their differences. This was an enjoyable romance that also tackles some real life relationship issues.

Give this one a read! It's on shelves now!

Sparks fly when two polar opposites attend a wedding ... and by the end of it they just might want to throw each other into the fire.

The last thing vegan artist and yogi, Gemma Turney, wants to do is be the maid of honor at her mother’s wedding. Thanks to her mom's revolving door of men, Gemma doesn’t believe in happily ever afters, and she certainly isn’t looking forward to standing at the altar next to obnoxiously attractive and rigidly perfect, Jason. When they're thrown together for wedding festivities, she can’t help but pick fights to get under his skin. And if she's honest with herself, she wouldn't mind getting under his clothes, too.

Jason Mitchell is happy about his godfather’s upcoming nuptials, but he can’t stand free-wheeling Gemma. She’s late for everything, constantly picks fights with him, and can’t seem to locate any socks. Not only is she wildly irritating and annoyingly attractive, she also throws his methodical life way off balance. He can’t help but hang on for the ride even as she forces him out of his comfort zone every time they're together.

Once the wedding is over and the smoke clears, Gemma and Jason have to discover if hate and love can live side by side or if their happily ever after is destined to go up in flames.

Gemma is a bit of a ‘say how it is, vegan hippy chick’ who doesn’t take shit off anyone and speaks her mind and does what she likes really.
She’s asked to go along to her mothers party and she springs it on her it’s because she’s engaged to Frank, who will be husband number 4. But Frank is lovely and her mum says it’s going to be forever. She seems much happier than she has in a long time.
She meets Jason, Frank’s godson who he brought up from around 13 yrs old when his parents died in a car crash. He’s also his partner in their business, Santos and Mitchell.
She finds herself arguing with him A LOT, but he can also be quite firm and insists he’s driving her home as she’s cycled there and it’s dark and she’s had a few to drink.
But it’s not hate she’s feeling, and he doesn’t feel that either. There’s something behind all their arguing and being horrible to each other. There’s spark! But will they or won’t they? Find out by reading all about them.
Loved this story, low level spice and a great back story. Gemma is a bit of a sod, she knows she doesn’t conform and she doesn’t try to. Jason is the complete opposite of her but there’s electricity between them.
I love the way the story goes, and it makes me laugh in places. Nicely written and I’m eagerly waiting now for the next book so I can find out all about Gemma’s friend, Brontë.
I love finding new authors and Sophie Andrew’s did not disappoint me.

I'm pretty sure I haven't read any other book that has opposites attract that much as Jadon and Gemma have. OMG. These two really couldn't be more different 🙈 And still they have a chemistry and a magnetic attraction that's indescribable, except your name is Sophie Andrews 😁

I love both so much. Jason isn't a billionaire, but he isn't that far away from it (at least it feels like it). Sure real billionaires suck, but fictional are 🔥 And still Gemma hates everything materialistic 🙈 She is such a hippie. Yes, hippie, NOT hipster! 🤣 (a tiny insider for everyone who has read the book 😉). But she is funny.
And when I'm at funny... I laughed sooo much. The banner is top notch 🤩

This book could be a bit of a stepsiblings trope, if they weren't that "old" already (so they never lived together), and Frank is "only" Jason's godfather. But it's still funny 😁 Especially when the parents find out about them 😎

I'm so excited for who the other books in this series are about. There aren't any brothers or sisters. But there are a few friends, so I'm going with them 🤞
Gemma and her three best friends are so wonderful. I would wish for such wonderful friends 🩷 The only sad thing is, they can't see each other that often because of distance 😞

💥Overall opinion:
Loved the storyline and the characters. Some parts were a little slow scene and dialogue wise, but for the most part, I really enjoyed it!

⛔️Brief Story Summary:
Gemma(Gem), a short-tempered, foul-mouthed vegan yogi & environmentalist is thrown into a wedding next to Jason, a rich, handsome, perfectionist. They manage to get under each others skin and sparks fly. This book is one giant tug-of-war between their minds, their emotions, and their souls.

⚡️POV:
Dual - Male & Female FMC

💋Tropes:
Enemies To Lovers
He Falls First
Opposites Attract
Unexpected Pregnancy
Alpha Hero
Best Man/Maid of Honor

💣Main Character Rating:
Jason - 4.5⭐️ - I really liked his character. He was funny, smart, charming, and knew all the right things to say. My only drawback is that I wanted more depth to him by digging more into his past.

Gem - 4⭐️ - Loved that she had a mind of her own and didn't care what anyone thought. I found a few of her character traits slightly annoying, but she grew on me.

🌶Spice level:
1.5/5

🚫Closure:
This is the first book I've read by the author, but I definitely want to continue with the other books in this series. The author has a way of leaving you wanting more.

Gemma'a mother is engaged to Jason's Godfather. They are forced together in preparation for the upcoming wedding where she is the Maide of Honor, and he is the Best Man. He feels the spark right off the bat, but she is fights its more due to her past trauma. He is the essential pretty frat boy. He is a meat loving engineer, and she is a vegan yoga teacher. They couldn't be more opposite. While he tries to pursue her, his booty call Bridget keeps popping up at the wrong times causing Gemma to walk away from the chemistry. They constantly fight over everything, but the chemistry is obviously there. There is also an unplanned pregnancy.

Fist book by this author and it was a nice palate cleanser from my normal dark romance. Their banter was cute and funny. The only reason I'm not giving it a complete 4th star is that I felt like there was uneventful information. Some parts seemed to lag to keep me interested but that could totally be because I'm used to the full force of a dark MMC and all his plotting. If you like the light and fluffy with a pinch of darkness, then this book is for you! I enjoyed the overall story, but I just found myself wanting a little more.

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD

The writing was really good, the characters were freaking amazing, the banter, the steamy and sweet moments EVERYTHING was good.

My favorite thing about this book was the banter between Gemma and Jason. The minute they met they started bickering and I loved it. They give as good as they get. They are both completely different but work so well together.

They had a lot of ups and downs like any regular couple would. I did feel like they could have avoided a lot of drama if they would have spoken and not gotten as mad. It was a bit frustrating seeing them argue over something dumb BUT them making up made it worth it.

I wouldn't call this book enemies to lovers though. Its definitely a opposites attract type of book. Jason and Gemma didn't hate each other she just kind of judged him before even speaking to me (which is were the little banter starts) but they never hated each other.

If you are wanting a book with banter, opposites attract, a FMC who is more of your grumpy/sunshine and a MMC who falls first then Tangled Up is for you.
A cute read that will have you laughing to yourself as you scroll the pages.

Gemma is a 25 year old Vegan who has a free spirit personality and struggles with commitment . She is full of spunk and isn't afraid to voice her opinions. Which was the case when her mom introduced her to Jason.

Jason is a 28 year old engineer and and as handsome as they come. He has experienced loss that leaves him enjoying the bachelor status. He is everything Gemma avoids when it comes to men.

Gemma and Jason aren't looking for more, but there is a strong attraction that just can't be ignored. Can the two of them find a way together between the nonstop bantering!?!

"It's a shame you're so damn gorgeous yet so incredibly annoying."

*Previous talk about an almost SA is discussed in the book. As well as a surprise pregnancy.*

Buckle up, the rides about to get bumpy! Sophie Andrews delivers one of the most fiercely independent, headstrong and stubborn female main characters I have ever come across. Gemma is a vegan, eco-friendly, self assured woman who makes no plans for the future and isn’t afraid to be uniquely herself. Jason is a blindingly handsome, straight laced engineer with a bright, well planned out future. When Jason’s godfather marries Gemma’s mother, their forced proximity brings the heat. They can’t help but argue and get under each others skin, which drives their want for each other deeper with each passing conversation. Their passionate arguments can be infuriating but each one allows them to discover more about themselves and each other. Their story runs hot and cold in spectacular fashion as these two polar opposites try to make a go of it!!

3/5🌶️

Gemma is a vegan yogi art teacher, and Jason is an engineer who likes to keep everything perfect. When they show up to a surprise engagement party for her mom and his god father they hated each other. I mean isn’t that how all great love stories start?

I loved seeing the character development in this book, and the relationship grow. I feel like so often when book characters fight you don’t see any real resolution but with this book you see them talk everything out. They look at their differences and still seem to make it work.

Everything felt very real but at the same time still perfect like the love stories you grew up with but with a dash of real life. I will definitely be looking forward to getting my hands on Brontes story.

Also if you enjoy this book make sure to get the bonus chapter!!

I enjoyed this book from the beginning! It’s an enemies to lovers, with two characters who seem to be complete opposites, yet the attraction between them is electric. We have hilarious banter and emotional moments.

Gemma Turney is bold and knows what she wants. She thrives in chaos and chooses to ride a bike. However, when it comes to the people she loves.. forgiveness is her weakness, or maybe a strength.

We see her butt heads with Jason, a new man being thrust into her life due to her mothers upcoming marriage. He’s by the book and has goals he wants to achieve. He falls first and let me tell you it was the sweetest thing.

They are hot and cold, quick to confrontation and hurtful words. It’s easy to come back together tho.. their love is a flame not easily put out.

The ending made my heart so happy - it’s the kind of ending I love!

Read it ❤️

“Hey, you…”

This line is a real weakness of mine - and it was just one small part of this sweet & spicy book.

This is a wonderful opposites attract, enemies to lovers story. Gemma is a free, stubborn spirit, Jason is a controlled perfectionist - and they are both set in their ways and they drive each other crazy.

At one point, Gemma says “God he’s gorgeous, but I hate him.” Which just sums up their dynamic perfectly!

They both taught each other valuable lessons, and Sophie Andrews did a wonderful job and showing both points of view with compassion - even when I wanted to give them both a good shake!

I highly recommend this story for anyone looking for a new comfort read; and I can’t wait to read the other books in this series!🥰

You’ll love this if you love:

This is book 1 in a series of interconnected standalones.

Gemma is a 25-year-old vegan environmentalist who meets Jason at her mother's house. He is the godson of her mom's fiancé. She immediately dislikes him because he is too "perfect"... with the wedding coming in a month, they keep getting thrown together, and even though they argue, sparks fly.

I loved this book! The relationship between Gem and Jason was so well-written! It evolved beautifully and never felt forced. Gem annoyed me a little bit in the beginning, but I soon came to love her. I also really like Gem's 3 best friends and can't wait to read Bronte's story next! Great story, great characters, I'd recommend this book to any romance lover!

Oh so sweet

Tangled Up starts out with all the angst and tension you need in a book. It was a great clean romance with little spice. It was perfect. I would definitely recommend this book for a pallet cleanse.

The story is slow paced so if you are looking for an easy read I would not suggest this book. When everything goes to it head it’s literally the middle of the book.

This book is bittersweet and kind of romantic. Though I did roll my eyes at some of the situations.

Trigger warning! Since I know a lot of people do not like the pregnancy trope, I will tell y’all it has that in it along with talks of abortion which Sophie tells us in the first pages of the book. Please read them.

Tangled up is an Enemies to lovers read and full of a live hate relationship. Jason and Gem are brought together due to Gems mother getting married again, first time meeting jason was immediately drawn to gem and same goes for gem as well she felt the magnetic pull but was scared to actually do anything about it.

The heart is something that has to be taken care of and Gem is scared to let him in, An on and off a fling Jason had had with a friend named Bridgett is always showing up at the wrong time and takes a toll on gem and makes it even harder for her to learn to trust him.

In the end it all comes down to love and hate you can only fight that pull for so long until the heart wants what the heart wants. This story all together was a good read and i loved the characters.
