Lucas the Lizard lives at the zoo, but there doesn’t seem to be much audience for reptiles. This changes when Lucas learns to perform tricks. Now he is the star of the show!
I read this book so often to my oldest son — who’s now 23 — that I can still quote the opening lines by heart. Our original copy was loved quite literally to pieces, but I’ve bought it again so I can read it to my grandchildren one day.
It’s vividly colourful, beautifully rhymed, and full of that gentle charm that makes a children’s book unforgettable. A true family favourite that’s stood the test of time in our home.
A cute little story that has above average language for a board book. The lizard is an unpopular attraction at the zoo. He longs to be popular. He decides he will show off his talent. On a day when the seal show is canceled, the lizard makes his debut and is a hit.
This book has cut-outs and brightly colored textures throughout. This makes it a hit with The Boy. **** 30 March 2012 13 September 2012 Fritz was falling asleep, but I suggested a bedtime story. When I pulled this one he perked up. He is so tactile. He stimmed off the pages as I read with just light shining in from the hallway.
This is a sparkle book about a little lizard at the zoo who feels lonely because no one comes to look at him. The story is okay, but the sparkle paper that is part of the illustrations is fascinating to young children. It is bright and colorful and fun to touch. Our girls enjoyed this story.
Great story. One of my son's favorites. But there are two lines with misplaced rhyme scheme that drive me nuts every single time. And there have been many times.
My daughter LOVES this book. It’s short but the pictures are interesting because it’s foil and layered cardboard so it’s textured. It’s a cute book for your lizard loving kids.
