I love the game. It’s my life, my dream, and today I put my name in for the NFL Draft picks this year. That’s right. I’m quitting college as a junior. A degree can wait. My dream can’t. Sure, this is a gamble but if I wait, I could get injured or worse, meet a chick. So I made rules. No girls. No relationships. Absolutely, nothing to come between the NFL and me. Piece of cake, right? I thought so too, but then I met Allie on a spring break road trip with my best bud, AJ. They say every superhero has his kryptonite. Well, Allie Artemis may very well be my downfall. Sexy lips and long dark hair makes her the biggest gamble of all. My career is on the line and a relationship could ruin every chance I have with the NFL. Most people don’t wake up one day and hey, I want a crazy life running away from my past. Well, I’m not most people. Some call me hard-core but don’t let my attitude fool you. It’s just a self-defense mechanism. I’m really hurting inside. With my life crashing down around me, I have to find a way out. I never asked Cam Landsborough to save me but he sure looked like a superhero that night. I don’t usually take risks, but I figured there was a decent chance that Cam could be my ticket to freedom. I know, it’s a gamble, but what other choice do I have? Call me a gold digger if you like, but I prefer the term “escape artist”. Don’t miss The Gamble, Eve Carter’s latest bad boy romance.
I am a true romantic at heart and with a modern contemporary erotic twist to my romance novels, you had better fasten your seat belt, as the ride is always fun, exciting and fiery. Living in Las Vegas, but a mid-westerner at heart, I find plenty of inspiration for my books in my own exciting life. I have always loved the arts and as a young girl, I took dance classes and spent the summers reading books from the local library. Fascinated with the written word and its power to guide the imagination, I started writing short stories and later took Creative Writing classes in college. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education. I also have a Teaching Credential from Chapman University in Southern California.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the novel. You can email me directly at evecarterbooks@gmail.com and if you enjoyed the book, please share your excitement with other fans of women’s erotic romance. You can write a review by clicking here: Deceived Part 1 – New York
Everyone has their eyes set on something, and Cam Landsborough is no different. But is he a fool to put his college career on hold for the NFL? And what sacrifices will face. Allie Artemis, will definitely be one of those. Allie is looking for a way out of her own hard times, and Cam may just be the answer.
The Gamble is a fantabulous read by the ever incredible Eve Carter! I highly recommend.
Cam Landsborough's life revolves around the pigskin, so he decided to take a gamble and put his name in the NFL Draft, quitting college in his Junior year. He truly believes that his dream can't wait, and he some absolute rules; no girls, and especailly no relationships to distract him from his goal. All is going well until he meets Allie while on a spring break road trip, and he quickly realizes that she could be his kryptonite. Allie Artemis has big attitude on the outside, but no one sees all the hurt she carries on the inside, and she needs a way out of the life that is blowing up around her. When she meets Cam, she decides that he could be her way out, so she takes a huge gamble, with no other choice left to her. This story kept me on my toes cover to cover, with heart racing like mad. I never saw it coming, in fact. Obviously being me, the football aspect is going to draw me in, and then add in the dramatic emotional angst, well my girly side was just as happy. The talented writing style displayed in this amazing story had me all in from the beginning, as it's super addictive, which led me to devouring it in one sitting. I described a few points already, but the perfectly placed humor added in kept me laughing quite a bit. Cam and Allie together were amazing, even though I spent a lot of time worrying about the other shoe dropping, but nonetheless, I've decided I NEED MORE OF THEM! (hint hint) With all of that being said, I can't help but HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING this awesome read that filled up some of the off season time wonderfully well!
This was a stand alone, quick read. I say quick because it starts and ends with the same book. I enjoyed the read, however, through the entire book I felt like there was something missing. I can't put my finger on it, but I continued reading and it was a great HEA of course! :-) my gripe with these type of stand alone is they seem to end with a quick and rushed feeling. The other weird connection was the mention of Gloria's Secret, there is another book from a different author with Gloria's Secret. I get so confused with keeping the story's straight, but I didn't think this was linked. Regardless, you'll enjoy the book! 💜
A spring break trip to Vegas, for two football jocks, what could go wrong? "A lot could happen in a year's time that could ruin everything." "I was mesmerized, no, I was electrified and totally under her spell." "I craved the dizzying energy she emitted that made me feel a little bit crazy." "Within hours of meeting this woman, I'd already had a gun to my head, had to run for my life, and now I was feeling sorry for her." This story is exciting, funny, and you can't help but cheer on the characters as they travel Route 66 to Vegas for Spring Break.
The good: characters and plot. Good, well developed leads. Football on the cusp of his pro career meets a girl who throws him off track. Good girl in bad situation seizes an opportunity. Good friends. Better villains. And a meddling mom. The plot starts with two boys on spring break who meet a girl. OK.
My problem is with the style and sharpness. The story seemed to have several themes and just could not focus on any. It rambled between and back and forth. That lack of focus lost mine. Couldn't finish.
Fantastic writing! Cam has an immediate goal-make the NFL draft. For his dream to come true, Cam thinks he needs to cut out girls and stay out of trouble...Cue the drama. Allie is an ambitious woman but she's stuck under her ex's thumb. Will her desire to be free of a controlling man risk Cam's future?
Eve Carter's descriptive writing, attention to detail and character development has always been a huge favorite of mine. I highly recommend this standalone read!
Eve Carter has an impressive way of writing characters that consume you, draw you in, and make it impossible to put her books down!! The Gamble is so good! Cam has big plans to make it in the NFL and nothing is going to stop him...until he meets Allie! She is full of nothing but drama, something he swore off as a way to make his goal. This story is full of entertainment on many levels. I enjoyed it alot!!
I love when one of my favorite authors releases a book and love it even more when that book has a football theme to it.
Cam has his life all figured out, put college on the back burner and throw his name in for the NFL draft. But before that all can happen Cam and his best friend head to Vegas for spring break for one last hurrah. How is this going to work when Cam has sworn off women?? And what makes things worse is when Cam and AJ come across the beautiful Allie when they need a flat tire.
That flat tire and Cam meeting Allie changes the course of Cam's life, with so many twists and turns once their lives collide, will Cam ever make the NFL????
Loved Allie and Cams story, and I think that AJ needs his own story.
Another great read by Eve Carter. Cam has put everything on hold to pursue his football career and play in the NFL, but then an unexpected distraction named Allie walks into his life. She is full of drama, with the twists and turns in this book, I couldn't put it down. A must read!!
Great read from this author, the story of Cam and Allie was great from the start, Jade tried to get in the way but it never worked, the banter between Aj and Cam was the best Batman and Robin lol.
Cam wants nothing more then to become a professional football player, he doesn't want to distraction that includes woman but when he sees Allie all bets are off. Allie was in a bad relationship and will do anything to get away and Cam might be her ticket away from her ex. I liked the story and Cam & Allie were good together and think their story ended perfectly
Cam wants to achieve his goal and play for NFL. He has cut out girls, drama and any other distractions . Enter Allie . She is a whirlwind. who brings all of the drama into Cam's life. Will Cam achieve his goal? Will Allie escape her life? will they make it as a couple? Even Carter has written an enjoyable book. I would recommend it.
Cam is on his way to Vegas with his best friend AJ for spring break. Drinking and girls are the plan. He's hoping to get drafted to the NFL, so keeping his body in top shape and no relationships with girls are priority. Car troubles and a girl at the gas station are going to change that. Allie needs to get away from Flagstaff. "Batman and Robin" are here to save the day. Leaving with them seems like a good idea. Eve Carter is a fantastic storyteller. Her writing sucks you right into the story. I loved The Gamble. The characters are strong and likeable. There was a bit of suspense, humor, and lots of hot scenes. Standalone with a happy ending.
