Tessa discovers how babies grow and change in the first few months of their lives and learns how to be a good big sister as she observes her baby brother and his changing personality and body.
I definitely have a skewed opinion on this book. It fits our situation very well. Not only is it a little brown haired girl with a little brother, but the boy's name is William! Natalie actually seemed upset with that at first, but then asked to hear this book at least two other times today. I really loved and she had favorite parts as well. Whereas I liked that the mom nurses, Natalie tried to hug the baby. While I liked the mom coming back and hugging the older daughter, Natalie liked washing the teeny toes. I really liked the ending where we see brother and sister at least a year later where she is reading to him at Christmas. This book has text at the bottom of the pages, but also dialog in the illustrations. I mostly stuck to the text because Natalie can't really follow cartoon like speech bubbles yet. Instead, I made comments about the pictures. I liked how this allows various types of reading for this book. Lastly, I like how the girl's experiences with her brother are both good and bad, yet end on a positive note, both with her mother and her brother.
