A Place In France: An Indian Summer

Rate this book
An immensely humorous travel tale from television’s unwitting dynamic duo. Meet Nigel and Nippy, quite simply the greatest televisual double-act of the moment. This book charts their adventures in the Channel 4 series A Place in France, as they journey across the continent on a mission to buy a house for renovation. Written by Nigel, A Curry In France is also an account of their latest exploits, as the pair attempt to open an Indian restaurant, the account of which is to be broadcast in their new series in early 2004. Perfectly capturing the cultural and emotional wrangles of moving abroad, Nigel writes in his affable and loveably pompous style, with Nippy interjecting as the voice of common sense. The book is bursting with character; featuring the typical Englishman abroad problems, mad estate agents and a love triangle between Nigel, a pretty French girl and her boyfriend, and is a compelling, original and slightly bonkers tale of the road less travelled. Nigel Farrell is a seasoned journalist and TV producer; he is also a published author, having written the accompanying book to the BBC series The Village.

Watched all the series in France so now reading the book and it’s delightful. Only 40 pages in and can’t put it down as it’s bringing back the amusement of the series graphically! RIP Nigel
