Not terrible, but sickeningly sweet. Sex scenes fair, and unnecessary for the rest of the book. Ugh.

It was a nice story that just looked along to the end. A good distracting read

Super old school romance and one of the first I picked up as a kid. Very flawed but even years later the chemistry was crackling.

I AM POSITIVE THAT BUSBEE IS A BETTER WRITER AT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE THAN A HISTORICAL ROMANCE. AFTER 6 ATTEMPTS OF HER LOUISIANA SERIES, I JUST ABOUT GAVE UP UNTIL THIS ONE.

If you have seen my reviews for the Louisiana series, you know how much I dislike her heroes and heroines because THAT AINT LOVE YO, IT'S ALL ABOUT FIGHTING AND PRIDE. This one was more like a love story, god bless!!

OUR HERO is a 45 year old hunk of a man, twice married but his wives ran out on him because they didnt want to get tied down in a bucolic life. Despite all that he is afraid to open up and love again BUT UNLIKE BUSBEE'S HR HEROES, Jeb isn't a bitter, arrogant man about women. True he may have doubts but he is still not lost. So when Roxy blows back into town it was immediate attraction and also antagonism, my favorite mix of tension BUT BE WARNED Ms Busbee's love-hate tension isn't as spectacular as other authors I know but still acceptable. Jeb is such a loving man, so different than the heroes of Busbee I have read it is a revelation and I downright like him! Attentive, sweet and passionate, not to mention he has 2 awesome dogs and sometimes he gets a little insecure with his relationship status with Roxy but who wouldn't after what he's been through and with a current ex-model as a lover?

OUR HEROINE is a 38 year old, semi-retiring model who has been there and done that with high flyers in New York and Victoria Secret models. She used to be glam but with age comes younger competition so she moves back to the small town, after another failed relationship to a married man (she didnt know he was married then) But she's still Super Hot if Jeb's reaction is any dead giveaway. She may be strong and opinionated but with a balance of cuteness and sweetness, it makes her the semi-perfect heroine I have met in Busbee Land. Thank goodness she doesnt have the usual Busbee heroine sharp tongue and bitchy attitude that makes me want to strangle her.

OVERALL I didnt expect the characters to be so mature in age but nonetheless it doesn't stop me from enjoying this. It took me about halfway to start enjoying everything because the introductions and all that shit, it's not my thing to linger. And as Busbee's love-hate banters aren't awesome, its okay to skip it and get to the good stuff.

If you enjoyed this book, I would recommend reading any KRISTEN ASHLEY book especially the Golden Dynasty. Ashley has a nice combination of alpha male who melts your panties and steal your heart and a sweet loving heroine who doesnt have killer kitten claws. enjoy!

Enjoyable

Would have been five stars but for all the typos. Takes some of the enjoyment away when you have to work out what the word is or where punctuation should be. Otherwise enjoyed.
