According to Jose Stevens and Lena Stevens, business leaders and shamans share many important traits: the ability to solve problems, achieve goals, see the big picture, and forecast events. What their previous book, Secrets of Shamanism, did for the growth of the individual, The Power Path does for the growth of business managers and entrepreneurs. Based on years of study with shamans, the book shares a new way of thinking about the nature of power. By applying shamanic traditions of power to the workplace, readers learn how to improve work relationships, understand employees’ strengths and limitations, and inspire effective teamwork — techniques aimed ultimately at increasing business success.
I spent a great deal of time reading and discussing this book chapter by chapter with a very close friend. We also spent time working on the associated exercises. This book spoke to both our interests in and practice of contemporary shamanism and our careers as business and consulting professionals. It is a strong and valid exploration of how deeply held shamanic principles can be relevant to how each of us operates in the business world. It focuses primarily on the concept of power--defining what it is, what its values are, how it can be appropriately expressed (an inappropriately expressed) in a business environment, and how it can be managed both as a direction for work and for life. I learned a great deal about myself in reading and working with this material. I am grateful to my friend for suggesting this work and sticking with me and it.
I actually haven't finished reading this book. I can tell from the first chapter, and the Contents that this is a quality book. Jose and Laura Stevens are very spot on with their insights/Forcasts. http://www.thepowerpath.com/
In my search for ways to look differently at entrepreneurship, I came across this book. Although this book is outside my reading comfort zone, I learned a lot from it. Observing, being patient and trusting your intuition are presented as essential qualities for an entrepreneur through this book. This book raises a refreshing counter perspective on the frequent get-rich-quick and hustle-culture advices from our nowadays society.
