He came to her in visions -- a golden-eyed warrior astride a charging black stallion. Yet Susan didn't dare hope her fantasies would come true -- until she was drawn to a faraway world full of danger and desire.
He was Jared, son of light, leader of his clan. Sworn to fight enemies bent on conquering his people, he had but one hope for success: the crysal woman who would fulfill an ancient prophecy.
From their first meeting, Susan and Jared shared a bond that soared beyond mere love. But forces of darkness would stop at nothing to destroy the sweet rapture that is their destiny.
🔮marriage of convenience 🔮sci-fi / time travel 🔮she’s from the past 🔮he’s from the future 🔮”the chosen one” 🔮crystals and mind magic
You can tell this sci-fi, time travel romance was written in 1995, and I’m not mad about it! Reading this felt like watching a witchy or space/sci-fi movie from the 90s. Jared lives in the future - an earth devastated by global warming. Susan is from the “past” (I would assume 1995!) and is chosen by the widows of Jared’s clan to fulfill a prophecy that will hopefully save the world. Crystal magic, mind powers, mind connections, it’s all a very nostalgic magic system, and I loved it! The story was great and Jared and Susan, while forced together, have a real connection. I loved that while Susan respected the customs of the clan, she also stood up for herself and her beliefs. The lore was well planned and fit well into the romance. ✨
um that is fantastic. i lost this book many years ago.... and i've always had it in my head searching for it but i couldn't remember the name of the author, until the other week i found it and i read it and i fell in love all over again. with the passion and the love that spans time itself. sigh. it was the first book that i read that really stayed with me for sooooooooooo long. i love it.
Read this book many, many years ago and came across it again when I was sorting through some boxes. Loved it just as much as I did back then. Well written, creative and strong characters. Now if I can only find the second book in my boxes ;)
Revisiting an old favourite :) What I love/d about this book is that while present, the "bodice-ripping" isn't the main focus of the novel. There's a story line, conflict, Sci-fi and fantasy. An enjoyable read and one I will continue to revisit.
