*Book source ~ A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Victor turns Veronica into a vampire without her consent. Veronica doesn’t even know he *is* a vampire. Things aren’t going as she had imagined when she spotted him in her hometown about a dozen years or so since she’d last seen him.

I had to stop reading at 25% because this book needs serious editing. The writing is choppy and there are a lot of mistakes. I also couldn’t connect at all to Veronica or Victor. They are so shallowly written and the woodenness of the writing doesn’t help.

I am not really into the whole vampire/zombie scene, but what I liked about this book, is that it is ultimately a story of desperation, regret, and living with the consequences of decisions made. Not the typical vampire novel.

A hauntingly beautiful tale of vampire love and betrayal between a mortal and an undead.

Craving a taste for the dark side, Veronica gets more than she bargained for when she is seduced by Victor, an evil and dangerous vampire. His obsession with her runs her off the road to Heaven and soon she too will turn her back on righteousness.

You will fall in love with the innocent Veronica and her search for love, feel her joy at rekindling an old flame and die with her as the love of her life becomes her murderer.

You will fear Victor who is a charming but wicked vampire who could compel a corpse on the gallows to speak. We follow him as he preys on Veronica, senses her weakness and watch as he pounces on her and destroys her with just…one…puncture.

Every woman knows a man like Victor...

This is the 2004 version and it has been re-vamped with a sexy new cover and re-released in December 2011.

Though I will admit, at the beginning, and at times throughout the story I did have a hard time completely relating to Veronica, the heroine, and also wanting to throttle her for some of her decisions as well as thought process in certain situations. This is in no way a bad thing, however, and should show just how easily vested you become in her character and well being immediately. Not caring whether or not the heroine dies is a bad sign don’t you think?

You see through her eyes the battles that we all, as woman, have faced, have watched someone face or sorry to inform you but WILL face at one point in our life. That proverbial should I or shouldn't I trust this man or person that for some reason I love with every fiber of my being even though they clearly don’t deserve it.

*** I read and reviewed this book several months back. As a whole, if you read it, you won't be disappointed. The remainder of my original review can be found here: http://lolosofocused.wordpress.com/20...
