Blood Moon Brotherhood #2

Rescued by the Wolf

Rate this book
Mal wants one thing in life--vengeance against those that deserted him and those who tortured him. But rescuing a wounded woman from their captors, one that wreaks of innocence and fear, makes Mal put his plan on hold. Temporarily. He'll do what he needs to keep her alive and safe, even if it changes both of their lives forever. Being stabbed and held in a dark cell wasn't on Olivia's top ten list. Her savior isn't exactly hero material. Angry, scarred, and pissed at the world, he seems to resent being saddled with her. But the longer they're together, the more firmly a connection forms between them. A connection that binds her to him, his pack, and his world. But that connection may just lead to her death. Contains mature themes.

Rescued by the Wolf by Sasha Summers
Blood Moon Brotherhood series book 2. Paranormal shifter romance. Can be read as a stand-alone. Previous characters from book 1 play a small part in this book.
Mal is being held captive by an enemy when they being Olivia into the cell next to him. Mail can’t help caring and protecting her as much as possible. But she’s in for a huge change in her life to wolf shifter.

Mal is a very tortured soul both mentally and physically. As a result, this book has a lot of angst. I admired Olivia quite a bit. She’s strong and fights back as much as the situation lets her. Olivia’s reaction to being changed to a shifter is asking real questions which was refreshing.
Loved the story in the end but it was very heavy.
I will be reading the next and final in the series very soon.

Wow! Props to the author for being able to completely change my first impression of Mal. In Falling for the Billionaire Wolf and His Baby (Book 1), Mal was a silent angry loner. He was closed mouthed and so pissy. Like. ALL. The. Time. Seriously, he was a jerk, no way around it. But I enjoyed the werewolf legend the author had introduced us to in book one so I was intrigued enough to give this one a try and I'm so happy that I did.

This can be read as a stand alone but I would highly recommend reading the first in the series to really get a good feel for the continuing storyline.

Mal makes a brief appearance in FftBWaHB (dang! Thats a mouthful :D) and during the big showdown, Mal is left for dead in hands of the enemy. He's anger and need for revenge is basically the only thing that keeps Mal from giving up and dying at the hands of his sadistic keepers. While enduring yet another session of torture, Mal gains a prison mate in the form of a human woman.

Olivia thought she was just at the wrong place, at the wrong time but her brother's shady business dealings have landed her in hell on earth. The half wild man in the cell next to her looks crazed and after seeing what their captors did to him, Olivia can understand why. But she's never felt safer then when Mal keeps her close. Finding herself fighting for her life, in a world full of death and deception, Olivia finds it easy to accept Mal as her only ally. He might grumble and brood but where it counts, he's always got her back.

Mal never set out to be a hero but there's something about Olivia that calls to his wolf. With his estrangement of his pack, his need to take out Cyrus and being burned in the past, Mal doesn't believe he's deserving of the peace and happiness that Olivia could offer him. Always alone, Mal thinks that is his future. But try as he might to stand firm, his wolf claims Olivia and it's not long after that Mal realizes, if he wants Olivia safe, there's only one wolf for the job.

This is the story of a lonely man finding the one person who chases away his anger and his pent up feelings of discontent and fighting to keep her. Its the story of Mal. He's gruff and a man of very few words but his actions speak for him. It's also the story of a woman who's found her niche. It's Olivia's story. Finding herself a part of this darker, more dangerous world, she's ready to prove she's Mal's equal. For the man that saved her and without even trying, claimed her body and soul, Olivia embraces her wolf to stand by her mate and her pack.

What I loved:
With so many shifter books out there, I like when an author can bring her own twists to the werewolf myth. I loved that the Blood Moon Brothers have wolves within them that have their own thoughts and their own feelings. I loved the interpretation of their shift from wolf to human and back. It was unique and a bit gruesome but I liked it. Also the fact that we have were-babies! Lol, that twist to shifter babies I haven't ever read about before. We don't get to see them too much here, but if you're really interested, FftBWaHB goes a bit more indepth regarding baby Oscar and Jesse's bun in the oven.

I really liked the MCs. Mal and Olivia were perfectly matched. Their easy camaraderie, their strong (if a bit reluctant) friendship, and their slow burn romance clicked for me. I enjoyed this one so much more than Finn and Jesse's romance. The emotional and physical connection was spot on and the sexual tension between them kept things hot and heavy from start to finish.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like about Rescued by the Wolf. It was well written, entertaining and had awesome MCs. I did wish we could have gotten a bit more insight into the rest of the pack mates. With Cyrus on the loose and the fate of Olivia's brother still unknown, I can't wait to find out what is in store for Mal, Olivia and the rest of their pack. Having the were-babies in the mix gives the story an extra kick.

Favorite Line(s):
... nothing said comfort like cuddling with a werewolf-man.

He was raw and hungry for her, and it was beautiful. Jaw clenched. Cheeks flushed. Nostrils flared. And those dark brown eyes crashing into her.

She could be quiet. But her wolf chose that moment to argue. Her wolf said Mal liked hearing her voice, that it chased away the hurt in his heart.

Memorable Moments:
I think the scene that most stuck out for me was their run through the forest. The fight to survive, not only the harsh wilderness but later, the bite and all the consequences and complications that come with it. Seeing Mal and getting to see a whole other side of him. A side that shows his compassion, his loyalty and his rock hard determination to save Olivia. It was awesome!

You get to see Mal as Olivia sees him. Not a half crazed bitter wolf but a man who has felt pain, betrayal and confusion for far too long. I really liked seeing both MCs come to care for each other so completely. It wasn't all about the sex either, they genuinely come to care for each other as friends, as part of the pack. It sold the romance for me and kept me glued to the pages.

This book wasn't as good as the first. However, it improved a lot moving along through the story. I felt the beginning was abrupt and I felt a little lost like I didn't know what was happening but that is probably my own fault for not re-reading the first book. I guess technically you can read this as a standalone but for everything to make perfect sense I would recommend reading the first book first. It took time for everything to smooth out and when it did I could really enjoy it. Mal is out for vengeance against those who have tortured him and believes to be abandoned by his pack. He is at a low point with only anger to fuel him. Then there is Olivia who is literally thrown into this world because she was involved and didn't even know it. These two are so different but from the beginning they work well together. Their chemistry is so good. Mal tries to fight it but he is no match for Olivia. There is also intensity that the first book had that really added to the high stakes and plot. Overall, I really enjoyed this book but this wasn't an all around 5 star rating.

When I started this book I didn't realise it was the second book in a series. I hadn't read the previous book and I think that affected my enjoyment of this story. Not everything made sense and I felt like I was missing big chunks of important information.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is pretty nice. I love the moon in the background but adding a wolf would have made it perfect in my opinion.

This is my first time reading Sasha’s work, and I definitely want more. This is the 2nd book in the series. I hope to get book 1 in the future. This is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. I do want to warn anyone who is sensitive to topics of being held against your will or torture that this book does contain some of these topics, so make the decision that is best for you.

I really like Mal and Olivia. They are both very strong to deal with all they have. There were a few times I was a little confused with regard to the Others, and I still have many unanswered questions that might be cleared up with book 1. Mal was a bonehead a time or two, but I think Olivia has him straightened out. I want to see more of this world because I’m intrigued.

I recommend this book to wolf shifter fans who like action and want something different!

Mal is a seriously taciturn kind of guy! He speaks only if necessary, leaving Olivia to muse all sorts of questions, but his temper...tsk tsk! It was rather amusing to see Olivia talk him down a couple of times! Olivia is sweet, but definitely not a pushover. She’s intelligent and quick on her feet, but having taken a few hard knocks recently, her reserves are running low. Meeting Mal under crappy circumstances and dealing with everything that follows seems perfectly logical compared to the rest of her life!

I liked Mal and Olivia’s relationship. They were cute together and I thought Mal’s protectiveness was hilarious compared to his grumpy demeanor! I’m really curious about Ellen and wondering what’s up with her!

This exhilarating and gripping story starts off with a bang and keeps readers glued to the pages with thrills and romance until the very end.

Mal just wants revenge against those who deserted him and those who tortured him. Olivia’s savior isn’t exactly hero material, but the longer she’s with him, the stronger their connection becomes. These two strong, inspiring characters capture readers’ hearts and hold them captive with their strength and courage. The romance between certainly doesn’t start off on the best foot what with them being captives and all, but the attraction and the sizzling connection doesn’t won’t be denied. The relationship has lots of emotional turmoil, a couple of large hurdles to cross that keeps readers in suspense throughout.

As stated above, the story starts off with an adrenaline pumping event and just keeps on building adrenaline and anticipation throughout as Mal and Olivia try to outwit their enemies and survive long enough to reach the pack, all while dealing with injuries, wild bears and a connection that neither is too sure they want. The story kept me glued to the pages and the fascinating characters ensure that I want to know more about this pack and while I read this series out of order and had no trouble enjoying it, it would probably be best if read in sequence to get the most enjoyment of the overall series story arc.

I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since I read Falling for the Billionaire Werewolf and His Baby, the first book in the Blood Moon Brotherhood series and Rescued by the Wolf surpassed every expectation that I had for the second book.
First off, it wasn’t until reading the blurb for the book (when I realised it was coming out soon) that I discovered that Mal was alive and my immediate thought was ‘awesome, Mal’s alive, he was one of the characters I was most interested about in the first book’ and my second thought was ‘Mal’s alive, oh boy, what does that mean?’
What it means is that from the first page of the book, you are swept into the story and dragged along at breakneck speed through the story.
Witnessing Mal’s transformation from a man whose only thought was of vengeance to a man who wants only the best for the woman he considers his responsibility.
Read the book and witness his struggle to stay distant, yet protective of Olivia, to keep a modicum of space between them to protect her and revel in the scorching hot love scenes and intense emotional connection that the couple share.
If you’ve been debating about reading this book, I highly recommend that you read it.
I believe that it can be read as a standalone and in all honesty, I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first book in the series.

Mal, a wolf shifter, wants vengeance. In the previous book, Falling for the Wolf and His Baby, he was left for dead in enemy territory. When a new captive, a woman, is brought in, he and his wolf are intrigued by her, and it isn't long before he's determined to save them both.

Olivia, a human, is caught in the middle of her brother's wrongdoings, and is sent to hell on earth. While there, she meets a man, sort of, and though he should scare her, he surprisingly makes her feel safe.

As Mal and Olivia, with no other way to pass the time, start getting to know one another, and though usually a loner, and bitter due to his  circumstances, discovers Olivia actually lessens all of it.

However, the days go on, as does their torture, leaving them no hope for escape, let alone a future.

Can Mal and Olivia break free from their prison? Will Mal ever be able to forgive his pack? Will he want to be reunited with them? Are Mal and Olivia safe? Or is the threat still there? Will these two be able to start their future together?

One-click now and follow along as two people meet under tragic circumstances and begin forging a connection that will bring hope into their lives.

Mal seems to always do what's right for his woman, "her stomach grumbled, loudly, for good measure. He sighed again. “We’ll eat.” He released her slowly and he tossed back the covers. “Then sleep.” There are times Mal has some good ideas, “I’m not sure.” He rolled over her. “But since we can’t sleep, I say we wear each other out until we can.” I really enjoyed this book, I can't wait to see whose next in this series.

This book was sooooooo good. Two very strong main characters because they had to be in order to survive. I am loving this series. I love how even in the midst of all the pain, the male character wet to great lengths to protect his mate. They both needed to heal and to practice a lot of forgiveness. This is an absolutely must read.

This is book 2 and book 1 is still my favorite. That said, this was a fast paced book. Mal is left for dead, tortured by the others and feels betrayed by his alpha and pack. This is Mal through the whole book. Olivia is kidnapped and thrown in a cell next to Mal, confused and hurt. I liked Olivia. She embraced her wolf, after finding out werewolves exist and she one now. She also managed Mal.

My heart breaks for Mal throughout most of the book. It is clear life has been handing him lemons and he has spent so much time reacting and running. Thankfully, when life hands him Olivia, his wild put an end to the running. Olivia has lived a life opposite of Mal’s in many ways but finds out that there was much she wasn’t aware of - in some ways this is harder and can be difficult to process. Olivia is strong and her joining with Mal only increases that strength. These two may not seem evenly matched on paper, but they have definitely each found their match in the other.

Things in Wolf-world continue to be a big hot mess, but I feel like that mess is giving Finn’s pack purpose. The pack is moving beyond existing into being a family for sure.

As always, Sasha pulls me into the story and makes me fall for the characters. While I don’t think Mal would be my first choice of book boyfriend out of all the males in Blood Moon Brotherhood series, he did make me want to give him big, hard hugs and I cheered when he realizes that fighting his wood is not ideal!

I for sure need more of these shifters in my life!!

When I first started reading this book it was a bit confusing and I felt like I was jumping into the middle of the story. I was. I hadn't realized it was the second book in the series. Since I felt like I was missing something I picked up the first book to read. I crossed my fingers and hoped I didn't regret my decision as it had the very dubious title of "Falling For the Billionaire Wolf and his Baby". Hmm...not a book I would usually rush to grab. Luckily for me, just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge it by its title either. It was actually quite good and I really enjoyed it. It also set this second book in the series up for me as it stops where the first left off.

This was a fun, action filled, paranormal with interesting characters and a nice plot. I love the way they first became wolves. Something different from the norm. The pace was swift and it kept me wanting to see what would happen next. I loved Mal. He was such an angry brute but oh so sweet to Olivia. I liked that Olivia was no weakling. She was brave and stood up for herself. Things did move quickly, as they usually seem to do in paranomals, but I really loved the two of them together. The chemistry and connection was there and I loved the steam.

Both this book, and the one before it, ended very abruptly. Not quite a cliffhanger but it's obvious the books form one big plot arc. The MC's would be somewhat settled but it would stop right in the middle of the plot. It didn't bother me as much as a true cliffhanger but it does make me anxious to get my hands on the next book. Not sure whose that will be but I am looking forward to it.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Paranormal Romance

Lots of action with engaging characters. Both Olivia and Mal are captive prisoners. Mal's been held, beaten, and tortured for months. Mal helps Olivia escape beginning their adventure together. Olivia discovers herself and her strength, but Mal has to learn to believe in her and not smother her with his need to protect her. Their journey is not easy but in the end, it will be worth it.

A very enjoyable read.

"Rescued by the Wolf" is book two in the "Blood Moon Brotherhood" series by Sasha Summers. I enjoyed reading Mal and Olivia's story. I like reading stories that have wolves in it, and this did not dislike. I had a few favorite parts in this story, but if I had to pick one favorite part, it would be when the mention of mate marks came up. I thought that was pretty neat. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I like Sasha's writing and have tried a few different series and have not found one I haven't liked.

Rescued by the Wolf by Sasha Summers
Blood Moon Brotherhood #2

Sometimes I just like a werewolf shapeshifter romance and it seems this book hit me at just the right time. I had not read the previous book in this series but had no trouble jumping right in, following and enjoying book two AND there was enough hints to flesh out most of book one without retelling the entire story.

Mal has been suffering for some time at the hands of The Others when an injured young woman is brought in and put into the cage next to his. His wolf is drawn to her immediately although Mal is less smitten – at least at first. With the opportunity to escape presenting itself he takes it and takes Olivia with him. While on the run she is further injured, turned into a werewolf and then meets his pack. There is a traitor in the midst of Mal’s pack to find and information to be revealed about Olivia’s family and The Others before the book ends.

I don’t give away spoilers but will say that this had elements I like to see in such stories: steamy scenes, fights, pack unity, time spent as a wolf, steamy scenes, thwarting the bad guys and a problem that still needs to be resolved. There is no cliffhanger but there is enough said to make th reader want to read the next book – at least this reader ;)

I loved Olivia and found her a person I would like to get to know better. Mal appealed though he was a bit taciturn at times. I really want to know more about Ellen – for some reason she intrigues me – being not of them but also not of the last pack she was in. I liked the fact that there were baby werewolves and…well…I just liked this book and am definitely hoping to read more by this author. Oh…and the rest of the pack sounds intriguing, too, I mean…male werewolf shapeshifters that all need a mate…got to want to see them all settle down, right?

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I normally don't read shifter books; the few that I have read I wasn't a fan of.

But the author changes that for me with this book! I loved this book! First off, she portrays a human's real reaction to discovering shifting wolves. All too often in these types of books the women almost seem to know that shifters exist and have no questions or concerns when they see it happen in front of them.

Thankfully that wasn't the case with this book! Olivia had a REAL reaction...she actually is convinced several times in the book that she's either crazy or having a dream. She had legit questions about what was going on, how mating worked and what the pack was like. I appreciated the realness of her character.

My heart broke for Mal and what he went through for the months he was held captive. I loved the immediate connection he felt with Olivia and how he used that to save her. I appreciated his internal struggle with committing to her.

I admit, after reading Falling for the Billionaire Wolf and His Baby, I didn’t know how I’d feel about broody Mal and what happened to him, but wow, I’m so glad I gave Rescued by the Wolf a chance!

Rescued by the Wolf gave me so much to work with on Mal and his devotion to his friends and his pack. And the revelations he discovers about himself and what he’s capable of when protecting what’s “his” are compelling and awesome to see as he grows as a man and a wolf.

I loved the connection with Olivia—that she gave Mal a chance, that they found love. That they managed to rise above the craziness and come through for each other. I love how Olivia softened Mal’s hard edges, and that his love and protection helped her understand his world.

Looking forward to more in this series! ~ Missy, 4 stars

3.5 stars. Great werewolf shapeshifter book. The MCs were awesome! The H was a grouchy jerk with a gooey inside. The h was a strong, intelligent woman who could kick some bootie. While the book had some flaws, I loved reading about their romance.

I think this works as a standalone. I haven't read the previous book and I understood everything just fine.

This was another intense romance read in the Blood Moon Brotherhood! Mal and Olivia were so perfect together and I was hooked on the book within the first few pages. Mal was so angst filled, but that attitude and back story made me love him even more. Sasha Summers does such a great job of keeping the action and plot moving and the romance top notch. I'm really loving the fact that their wolves are all on board with picking a mate, while their human forms are doing everything they can to resist it.

It seems like this is the second book in a series. Mal story probably starts at the end of the first book. I really did enjoy this book. Mal and Olivia are both strong characters and you really do enjoy them. The plot was well written. Mal and Olivia both have been through hell. Mal fought his feeling for Olivia off and on throughout the book. But once he gave in to Olivia and his Wolf, he was done, totally whipped. I love it. When Mal doesn't want to be separate from his mate, it was so sweet. You got to read about Olivia coming into her own and bonding with her wolf. Usually in the story the male always wants to breed the female, it was nice knowing that Mal wasn't ready for them to have pups and just wanted Olivia, he wasn't ready to share her yet. I liked that a lot. They both went through some pain. There was a lot of drama going on. Olivia was a strong woman standing up to Mal about lying to her and leaving her. I'm pretty Mal won't be lying to her anymore. I really did enjoy Rescued by the Wolf. You get to know the other characters in the books to, and learn about the alpha and his mate and children. That seen like an interesting story to read. Received an ARC for an honest review from Netgalley.

Thoughts

I completely forgot that I was going to review this (and needed to take notes as I read), only remembering at the last second – there was literally about 5% left in the book – I was just so engrossed in the push and pull going on between Olivia and Mal that all thoughts of review vanished from my mind. I guess that answers the question of whether I liked the book or not ;)

That’s not to say that I was blind to its faults, everyone kept talking about how strong and badass Olivia was and I just didn’t see it? Most of Olivia’s apparent badass-ery was just Mal saying it, I would’ve liked to have seen her actually do something that warranted the mountains of praise that she got if I’m being completely honest (and you know I always try to be as honest as I can in my reviews). Although you know what, credit where credit’s due, I loved her don’t hesitate attitude and no-filter mouth when it came to her telling Mal how she felt about him and their relationship, she didn’t hide anything and I loved that!

Ellen was one of the few or rather two, characters that kept my attention (the other one being Tess), who intrigued me whenever she had a scene in Rescued by the Wolf; I can’t wait for the other books and to possibly get to know more about her!

Book 2 of The Blood Moon Brotherhood did not disappoint!! Mal, the hot-headed pack member, is back and now has one objective….to rescue and keep his mate, Olivia, safe. Of course, there is also the small matter of revenge against the sadistic “Others” wolf pack that captured and tortured him. Will he get his revenge? Will he protect the girl and live happily ever after? Read and find out!
This book had fast-paced action, betrayal, and spicy love scenes which for me meant a 5/5 rating. If you love werewolves, fated mates, and revenge, then I would recommend this book for you. Sasha did a wonderful job making this book so that it can be a stand alone read, but I was glad I had already read Book 1. First of all, I love that I get to see characters that I already know and adore, and secondly, I think it helps to have the full backstory when reading a series. Again, I give this book a huge thumbs up!!

Rescued by the Wolf is book 2 in the Blood Moon Brothers series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoyed the plot and characters of this paranormal romance. It didn't really explain 'Others' in this book so I can only assume they were explained in the first book. But the differences were highlighted well in this book. After reading this one I am definitely wanting the first book. I enjoyed a different take on shifters. Mal and Olivia were an interesting couple. Olivia accepted things a bit too easily but that is the beauty of fiction.

There is a lot going on in this book and this series seems to really be starting to gear up. I enjoyed being able to get lost in this book and look forward to the next one. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun paranormal romance.

Rescued by the wolf is the second in the series and we join Mal, who if you have read the first one, you know his story is going to be surprising. Locked away and struggling to escape, Mal has always been a loner. now there is a woman in the cell next to him and well his wolf refuses to leave her behind.

Olivia is a character that is so strong before her life turns to crap that her ability to survive her new life is extraordinary. Life threatening injuries, situations, and changes are going to put her through her paces and if that wasn't enough, her attraction and need for Mal is going to put all her beliefs and thoughts on a whole new path.

IT was a really great story and I enjoyed it a lot. I can't wait for more.

3 1/2 Star Review......

Rescued by the Wolf is the second instalment in Ms Summers Blood Moon Brotherhood and the series only gets better with each new storey.

A well-written, adrenaline-packed tale of werewolves, betrayal, and romance that once you start, is impossible to put down. I did find the start a little slow, but once the pace picked up, it was full steam ahead! There are moments of predictability, but the dark intense nature of this story keeps the reader totally engrossed till the very end.

Olivia and Mal are very different personalities, but eventually come together through perseverance and strength of character. Overall, a satisfying read.

I enjoyed this more than the first book. Mal was such a fun character to read about. He was so grumpy and exasperating at the start of the series, but you couldn't hate him.

I love how Olivia complements his personality. The development of their romance was done very well. I love how calm she was. It was funny how she could soothe Mal's bearish attitude and temper without resorting to a screaming match or something similar with him. She has a soft personality, but she was not a pushover. You could feel her quiet strength and courage despite the softness she presented. I want to read more FLs like her.
