Okay, in a case of really reading more into this than I should, where are the parents? Seriously! These child extol the merits of a pet. Okay, fine. They go to the pet store and are sold a dog. Really? Two children come into a pet store and they're sold an animal? I don't think so. They spent the whole book telling you how to be responsible for a pet, yet they weren't when they went off alone to buy one.
