From the author of The Personal Librarian , three Los Angeles women who’ve helped each other overcome heartbreak are reunited eight years later when their troublesome exes come back into the picture in this follow up to Victoria Christopher Murray’s bestselling novel The Ex Files .

Sheridan, Kendall, and Asia first bonded when they met seven years ago at a church prayer support group and now, their friendship has blossomed into a strong sisterhood. They've helped each other through the tragedies of their breakups and together, they've celebrated their triumphs. But now, their exes are back, wreaking havoc on lives they've work so hard to rebuild.

Sheridan has found love again after her ex-husband left her for a man. But old wounds are reopened when her ex-husband appears with his fiancée—a woman! And all of Sheridan's insecurities and doubts come rushing back. Kendall's former husband is now married to Kendall's sister, Sabrina. And though Kendall has refused to interact with either one in the last seven years, she's forced to reunite with Sabrina when their father is diagnosed with cancer. Asia has done her best to move away from her married boyfriend, a former star with the LA Lakers. But when they share a kiss, old desires are rekindled and Asia decides that it's time for her and Bobby Johnson to get back together again.

With her trademark writing that “has the kind of momentum that prompts you to elbow disbelief aside and flip the pages in horrified enjoyment” ( The Washington Post ), Forever an Ex is Murray's best novel yet.

Lessons learned...

This book is beautiful journey through the lives of three friends, or more like sisters in Christ.
Each going though life's battles while supporting one another. This style of writing was different for me, and I am not sure if I liked it.
Usually when stories are told from three different characters, the chapters are scattered; shifting from one story to the next. However this book was divided chronologically in three separate parts for the three characters to have their own extended section.
Because of this, the first two characters didn't reach a full conclusion to their story.

Overall, this was a quick and encouraging read.

I have been reading Victoria's books for years. I have never been disappointed. This book touched home for me with the sisters. All I can say is unforgiveness is real and when you don't forgive, it hurts the unforgiver. Tears and praise to almighty God. Thank you for this story. I screamed. I cried. I said oh uh uh so many times. Thank you again. I cried because I know it.

Asia, Kendall and Sheridan are back in this new installment, Forever an Ex by Victoria Christopher Murray. These ladies have formed a sisterhood since meeting seven years ago. Asia has tried to stay away from her ex, Bobby but it seems that is going to be hard to do. Bobby is married and Asia truly believes his wife is trying to steal her daughter. Asia is not going for it but agrees to let her daughter go on a trip. Asia soon realizes she has met her match because Bobby’s wife has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Sheridan has moved on with her life after her husband left her for another man. At least it seems like she has moved on. Sheridan is married to Brock and all seems well until she speaks to her ex’s new fiancé, Harmony. Sheridan is shocked that Harmony wants to speak to her. She is even more shocked when she sees her ex up to his old tricks. Sheridan must decide if she should tell Harmony or mind her own business?

Kendall is still hurting from her sister, Sabrina’s betrayal and can’t seem to forgive her. Kendall is too busy taking care of her sick father, which helps forget what her sister did. Kendall and Sabrina have to work together to take care of their dad. Kendall soon has extra help when her ex-husband’s brother, D’Angelo starts paying close attention to her. She tries to ignore their attraction but it starts becoming harder to do. When a tragedy occurs Kendall realizes that holding grudges only hurts the person holding them.

Forever an Ex is another life message that these characters are dealt. The twists in the story kept me anticipating what would happen next. These characters have to deal with their ex’s in some form or fashion but sometimes it is better to leave them in the past. I recommend Forever an Ex to others.

I just closed the cover on this 5 Stars book, too many heavy emotions attacking me right now. I will modify this review later to include my actual review, I had to keep it hidden so I won't reveal any spoilers too soon after its recent release. What I would say is that is was worth the wait.

Another emotional yet engaging story. Hard lessons had been learned the first time around along with formed friendships. Seems as though the women still had more to learn and more to grow. I love the exploration of the really tough issues and how the author guides you through each woman's trials and triumphs. This story made me smile, get my temperature up and pulled at my heart strings and I enjoyed the ride. Another great book by Victoria Christopher Murray.

I picked this one not knowing it was a sequel to the Ex-Files which I now plan to read. Wow, the theme of forgiveness and unforgiveness is prevalent throughout the story. While I thought the end was predictable with the two sisters reconciling, Victoria throws a wrench and wraps it up but not the way I imagined. A lesson of gratitude and forgiveness can be learned by all.

I have been hooked on Victoria's book since the very beginning of our friendship during the writing of her first novel Temptation. With 20+ books under her belt each book leaves me amazed at her writing. If you do to know about this incredible author, you don't know what you are missing.

A light and sexy read. The characters were engaging and witty. I enjoyed the romance and drama amongst these three ladies. They had me rooting for them to the very end. The only thing I had an issue with was Sheridan's storyline. It ended abruptly. I wanted her to have her victory. Instead she was left looking crazy and bitter. Other than that the writing was good.

The story is set in California and told from the perspectives of three affluent black ladies, who are church friends. They confide in each other when their ex's comes back into their lives causing havoc.

I would recommend this novel to women who are coming out of a tumultuous relationship or marriage. It has a lot of wisdom to take away.

If you loved Black Birds by Jerome Dickey....you will definitely find this novel entertaining. This would make a nice plane read.

I'm glad I gave this author a try, I'm looking forward to her other works.

This was the first book I've read by Victoria Christopher Murray and must say that I enjoyed reading it. I usually don't read sequels out of order, but didn't find the first book until after the fact. However, I still enjoyed the read and look forward to reading more from Ms. Murray. I was engaged from the very first page. Murray makes her characters very relatable and hop of the page. Every woman can learn a little something from this book. The main characters learned a lot about themselves, not only their exes. Faith, forgiveness, loving oneself, and letting go were the main themes that stood out in this book. VCM might be on my list of favorite authors.

The drama with Kendall, Sheridan and Asia was non stop. They each learned valuable lessons. The most devastating lesson was Kendall's lesson. I did not see THAT coming and wept through the last twenty pages of the book. I love how Victoria weaves these women's lives together seamlessly. I think we all have a friend with the foot-in-mouth ministry, lol. Now I have to read The Ex Files again.

Great read

This book was an excellent example of how some Christians can pray, worship, attend church and still not be fully committed to God. Sometimes God will allow things to happen in order to get your attention.
I'm glad these ladies learned their lessons. Hopefully these lessons serve as wake up calls for us readers who need it.

It started out with a bang, then lost momentum with Kendall's character. For me it was like trying to walk through thick waist deep mud to get to the end.. Not the worst I've read though.

Sheridan Goodman, Kendall Stewart, and Asia Ingram are being reunited seven years later to give each other encouragement in facing tribulations with their exes returning to cause havoc in their lives once again.

Asia Ingram is having problems with Bobby back in her life trying to convince her to let their daughter Angel move to New York to attend the School of the Performing Arts. The situation becomes ultimately out of control when Asia and Bobby, a married basketball player married to Caroline, decide to reignite their love affair. Caroline warns Asia to leave her husband alone or suffer the consequences that come with it, but Asia chooses to ignore the threat causing devastating embarrassment to her daughter Angel. Is Asia capable of repairing the relationship with her daughter Angel or will she loose her forever?

Sheridan Goodman loves the fact her children are adults, Christopher living on his own and Tori living on campus at Hampton University, leaving her and husband Brock an empty house to do as they wish. When Sheridan receives a call from Harmony, the fiancé of her ex-husband Quentin who left Sheridan for a pro golfer named Jeff, Brock advises Sheridan not to meet with Harmony because of the ethical issues involved. Going against Brock’s advice, Sheridan secretly meets with Harmony to answer questions regarding Quentin’s past fidelity. Sheridan informs Harmony that she believes Quentin loves her and will be faithful in their marriage. Later in the week, Sheridan observes Quentin and Jeff together at a romantic restaurant and struggles with the moral issues of informing Harmony of the encounter.

Kendall Stewart has moved back to Malibu with the help of her ex-husband Anthony’s real estate agent brother D’Angelo Stewart into a beachside cottage. Kendall gave Anthony the Malibu home they owned in the divorce settlement because that was the house she found Anthony and her sister Sabrina together in bed when coming home early unannounced and has never forgiven either of them since that time. Anthony and Sabrina have a newborn daughter and try to mend their broken relationships with Kendall until Sabrina becomes critically ill. Meanwhile, D’Angelo becomes increasingly attracted to Kendall who treads lightly because he is her ex-husband Anthony’s brother. With her sister Sabrina being ill and D’Angelo’s forward advances, Kendall must decide whether to resolve the differences with Sabrina and determine what her true feelings are concerning D’Angelo.

Kendall, Asia, and Sheridan come together in prayer at the drop of a hat to gain the courage and strength needed to cope with temptations, trials, and tribulations resulting from their ex’s new situations. These women prove there is nothing too difficult when going to God with sincere fervent prayer and a clean loving heart.

This follow-up to The Ex-Files by Victoria Christopher Murray immediately pulled me in so deeply emotionally by the end of Chapter 39, I was shedding tears; no, I was crying a deep river; no, I was boo-hooing a river of tears to the end of this drama-filled novel. How does one learn to write so eloquently like this? This excellent novel is a comfortable read with a splendid story line that is not easy to put down and take a break. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys drama, romance, Christian fiction, and tearjerkers wrapped up in one novel. In addition, I recommend reading The Ex-Files for a complete understanding of previous events pertaining to the main characters Asia, Sheridan, Kendall, and Vanessa. It is definitely worth the read with the many lessons taught and learned throughout the story line.

I received this book free from the Net Galley Reviewer Program for an honest and unbiased opinion.

Forever an Ex by Victoria Christopher Murray is a novel about three women: Sheridan, Kendall, and Asia whom each has their own crosses to bear. Their friendship was stemmed from a church support group and over the years they have become more like sisters. With the support of one another they attempt to overcome the issues within their lives.

Although Sheridan is happily married to a man who loves and adores her, she still wrestles with the fact that her ex-husband cheated on her with a man. Sheridan loves her new husband more than anything. She knows that God has blessed her with a new life, but the hurt from her past relationship still lingers. So when her ex appears with his fiancée it leaves her more confused than ever. Sheridan isn’t buying the fact that he is completely straight. Against her friends and husband’s wishes, she decides to stick her nose in the situation. What will be the consequences of her actions?

Kendall’s ex-husband is now married to her sister, Sabrina. Who just so happens to be pregnant and due to have their first child soon. Sabrina could care less because she has no desire to be part of Sabrina or the baby’s life. In Kendall’s mind, her sister committed the ultimate betrayal. Her father has told her time and again that she needs to forgive and move on. Kendall’s stubbornness and hurt refuses to let her let it go. Will circumstances put the situation give her a different perspective?

Asia is determined to get her ex-boyfriend, Bobby back. Regardless if he is married or not. It didn’t stop her before, and it will not stop her now. Or will it?

Forever an Ex by Victoria Christopher Murray was overall a good read. Although the story started off a bit slow but picks up. The end will really have the reader contemplating situations within in their own lives. Anyone will be able to relate to the obvious messages between the pages of this novel. In reading the ARC copy in e-book format, I was unaware at the time that this was part of a series. In reading the synopsis on Amazon, I see it was clearly stated that this was part of a series that I have not read. Had I of read them I would have been able to follow the storyline more and the story may not have been slow in the beginning for me.

Asia starts sleeping with Bobby again after 6 years. His wife finds out and warns her to leave him alone. When Asia continues to engage in the affair with Bobby, Caroline sets them up. Asia and Bobby get caught having "tech sex" on Bobby's big screen TV by Angel and some of her girlfriends. (Angel is 11-years-old at this time). Angel is devastated. Caroline makes a deal with Asia, leave my husband alone, and I will stop turning your daughter against you. Will it work?

Sheridan and Brock see Quentin and his ex Jett, coming into Rendezvous (a couples restaurant) one night when they are on their way out. Sheridan is puzzled because at Christmas Quentin showed up with a woman named Harmony, whom he was supposedly getting married to. (Quentin left Sheridan for a man. Jetty to be exact). Harmony calls Sheridan to talk, when Sheridan meets her, she can't help but let Harmony know she saw Quentin with his ex lover, Jett.
All hell breaks loose after that. Sheridan finally understands, she can't fix everything and her own marriages could suffer if she doesn't stay out of Quentin's business. When she later on sees Quentin and Jett kissing and hugging, instead of telling Harmony, she takes it to the altar. If something is going on, Harmony will have to find out for herself.

When Kendall found her husband and her sister in bed together, she couldn't find it inside herself to forgive her sister. Sabrina and Anthony ultimately get married a and Sabrina has a baby. Kendall's father has breast cancer and would like nothing more than for his two daughters to rekindle their relationship. Kendall tells her father she is trying, but it is going to take some time. It isn't until Sabrina passes away that Kendall realizes she never got to tell her sister she forgave her. She is devastated and usually calm and collected, allows herself to break down and grieve the death of her sister, and become the godmother to baby Ciara ( her niece) that her sister and ex-husband wanted her to be. While this is going on, Kendall is forging a relationship with Anthony's brother D'Angelo, whom Anthony is at odds with. In the end, Sabrina's death brings everyone together in a way they thought they'd never be. Read: September 2014

I TORE through this book. I love the stories of these three women. I guess there are aspects of each of the characters that we may be able to see in ourselves. When Pastor Ford asks each woman the lesson they learned, I related the most to Sheridan's. I haven't quite learned it yet though. Getting there!).

Though this book is part of a series, what I appreciate about Victoria's books is that you wouldn't have HAD to read the prior book(s) to enjoy the current one. You'll probably wind up going back to it just because her writing is THAT good! But it's not a "requirement".

I truly enjoyed Forever an Ex. Job well done, Soror Victoria.

Forever An Ex was an interesting read. I felt with Sheridan's character, VCM could have shown that Sheridan was really telling the truth when she found out what was really happening regarding Quintin & Jett. I did not want Sheridan to look like she was still bitter or living in her past. The other characters & their story lines were portrayed nicely. I felt Brock overreacted when he found out that Sheridan warned Harmony regarding Quintin. Even though the Pastor was doing her job correctly Spiritually, she kinda got on my nerves! Forever an Ex was a decent read.

Ex's stay ex's for various reasons and sometimes we just can't go back to what once was. If it was good the first time around these three ladies Sheridan, Kendall and Asia would not find themselves in there current situation.

One of the ladies story line was too close to home for me and I had a hard time finishing this novel.

This was not like some of other Victoria Christopher Murray's work and a continuation to the Ex Files. Story line and plot excellent. Just did not hold my attention.
