This new revised edition is a deeply inspiring book for all those who love trees. It encourages our deeper involvement with trees both on the physical level and offers ways we can open our spiritual connection to trees and nature.
The book focuses on 13 native trees of the British Isles and their corresponding 13 moons and place on the wheel of the year's cycle. This is based on the authors understanding of their inherent energy and unique healing properties. This creates a tree circle, which can be planted and used as a sacred grove or celebration circle.
These are the native trees of the British Isles that our ancestors would have worked with and the book explores some of the myths and folklore surrounding these trees, as well as past and present uses of the wood and the herbal and culinary uses of their leaves, sap, fruit and bark.
Also there are suggested ways to communicate with tree spirits and the spiritual and healing qualities that each tree has to teach us.
Illustrated with line drawings of the leaves, flowers and fruit of each of the trees and also includes how to grow and plant trees.
This is a beautifully illustrated book that's a pleasure to hold in your hand. It contains absolutely no citations, and so I wouldn't necessarily trust its historical or medicinal accuracy, but it is a deeply romantic read. If you want druidic vibes, you can find them here.
A beautiful little guide to British trees associated with the Wheel of the Year and their associations, properties and uses. I picked it up from a witchy shop whilst on holiday and it's provided me with lots of food for thought surrounding my practice and my veneration of nature and the wheel of the year.
-This book is beautiful. Visually, it is handwritten and copied with drawings and decorations around them. I loved this style but at times this made it hard to read, especially as the text is written in block capitals. An aesthetically pleasing book is nice but it doesn't make it very accessible to read.
- The book is well ordered and the actual contents clear and concise. The order of the trees featured follows the Wheel of the Year and makes for a well thought out guide.
This book would make a good gift for any witches, pagans or druids in your life. Short but pretty and contains information pertinent to the Craft. The only way it could be better if using a more accessible format or font.
The penultimate book in this series, this one looks again at trees in the UK. It's similar to The Tree Ogham, talking about the different trees, they're uses, symbolic meanings and when they are used for different ceremonies and rituals throughout the Celtic year.
There are 13 native British trees that are looked at and these correspond to the 13 moons of the year.
This book is beautifully illustrated as always. An interesting read for anyone interested in the pagan/Celtic religion.
This is a lovely book which has the presentation of a hand written journal. It is very easy to read and would be a great reference for anyone interested in the spiritual quality of trees.
