This is where it starts getting tricky. Things started heating up so I read 8 to 11 in quick succession. They've kinda blurred into one for me. Tak finds out the truth about Natalie, probably from a pissed off wife and takes on a race with the evo he initially turned down, only to blow the engine, exactly what Bunta was waiting for. I didn't feel any sympathy for Natalie when he snapped at her. Cheating. Nope. There had to be something to throw Tak off his game though for the story to progress. I like that the racers didn't have the match as valid and still showed their support. It felt like the only one that understood his temperament was Ry, even Iggy was blind to the truth. I might actually see this one through to the end. The long recaps at the beginning help.

I thought this was vol 17… So I went back in time and learned the mystery of the eight-six engine swap. Great vol for Iggy! Happy to see him winning!

I mean, obviously, I’m enjoying this series enough to keep reading. I still think the characters are flat. The story isn’t great, but there is good tension building for the races… Ultimately, the main character is the car though—the little Trueno that could! And through tweaks, mods, and engine swaps, our little early 80s Hatchi Roku is growing up before our very eyes.

And damn, does that car art continue to impress. The human faces may all morph into featureless clones with crazy mouth movements. The cars, however, are all distinct from one another (even despite slightly different model and trim variations), consistently represented from one panel to the next, and exquisitely drafted!

I loved how Tak revealed he knew about Nat’s secret. Just dump it on her like that 👏 also I wonder what’s wrong with the eight six as well, not into cars that much so I’m clueless. Iggy is about to have a romance arc woo hopefully it works out for him, Kyle losing the race I feel like wasn’t the right choice. Like you could’ve made him the end goal for Tak since he finally lost, also trying to wipe his L is stupid, he lost.

Iggy is in love

Breezed through this book at an airport. There is substance in this volume. Something about character development, learning to figure things out, and how a helping hand pays off

this book is about tak. he lives in the world of street racing, and races in akina mountain. he gains his reputation by beating everyone in the mountain, trying to achieve his goal in street racing.
i would connect this book to text to world. because many people try to gain rep by doing whatever it takes. like tak with racing. such as fighting, wrestling, sports. etc.
i would give this book 5 stars because it shows racing which is a book i love in this kind of topic, also it is a graphic novel another favorite. mainly there is always racing in this series which gets me more attached to the book.
