In grade school, I really struggled with reading as a dyslexic kid. It was hard to find books that were not intimidating and had the sort of fun/silly story that I was looking for. This was the first book I ever read on my own, and was also the first one I ever enjoyed. I am very grateful for this book, it opened the doors for me. And it has a special place in my heart. Even years after leaning how to read and owning many books, this one still sits on my childhood bookshelf.

An ostrich escapes from a farm and ends up at a school. The school calls the police and the farm from which the ostrich escaped from. Everyone over hears the owners of the farm saying that the ostrich is meant to be killed anyway to be used for it's meat. The children decide to hide the ostrich in the boys' bathroom with some funny results. It is a nice easy ready and the pictures are super.

My son gave it 5 stars. He liked it when mad iris scored the goals in the football match and kicking chairs around the school.

Q. If you could have an ostrich as a pet, what would you do with the ostrich?
A. If I could have an ostrich as a pet, I would like to ride on him. I heard that ostrich can run fast. So, I ride on him and I want to compete with cars or trains. I could be a lot of fun. And his neck is long and can bend, so I could talk with riding on him. It will be interesting! If ostrich can fly, I think ostriches are perfect animal in the world of land. I only saw them in the zoo, so I have never seen they are running fast. I want to see they are running so fast someday.
