No seriously. What did I just read? I'm so confused.

This is the story of a girl who falls in love at first sight. With a fifth grader who looks like he should be a senior in high school. Just what are they feeding kids these days, and why didn't Kaho get exposed to these mega growth hormones?!

All in all, though, this was pretty entertaining. It's still a little strange to follow the love between a fifteen-year-old and a ten/eleven-year-old, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere nor does it look like it will in the future. So it's more like the childhood crush-type story with a twist. So far, the manga reminds me a bit of Kawai Complex.

I'm not sure how to feel about this story so far, but I do find it entertaining, so I guess that's all that matters? I guess it depends on where this is going, but I won't know that until later volumes.

Hmmmmm...This was alright. Not my favourite but it had its moments. I'm not sure of whether or not I will continue the series.

Fifteen-year-old Kaho Nikaidou has lead a pretty sheltered and pampered life thanks to her wealthy parents. She's now off to Tokyo to start a new life in the big city. When she's almost hit by a truck, she's saved by a handsome stranger and falls instantly in love. He agrees to go out with her, but she soon discovers that her new boyfriend is only in fifth grade!

This was a weird story... Kanade is drawn to look much older than a fifth grader and Kaho is drawn to look younger than 15. But I couldn't get over the strangeness of a 15 year old dating a 10 year old. Granted five years isn't all that much of an age difference, but developmentally there is at those ages. I kept thinking if the genders were reversed that this would never fly. I kept waiting for a twist that Kanade had just flunked a bunch of grades, but nope. The age difference is supposed to be all about the comedic affect. I just couldn't get behind it.

Whoops I fell in love with this story already. The art is really nice and although I'm still really confused on how in the world he can be an elementary student (unless he flunked???) I love how crazy this story and the characters are.

I'm not suppose to like it but I like it. I just have a problem with character development and the pacing. This is a good example that there are stories that are too fast.

I actually picked the first three volumes of this series for free at a library book sale last year. I finally got around to read them, as I was low on my usual manga fare. First, can I say the art is great?

The story itself is...quirky to be nice. Problematic to be blunt. It's really just another story about a an average-looking girl (in her case, she happens to be from a wealthy family and been sheltered and coddled her entire life), leaving her small town to go to the big city to attend school. She lives in a student boarding house, owned by a young widower (and his son). Pretty much the plot of at least 1/3 of Shojo Manga, right? So, here's the twist:

The son looks like he's a high school aged student. But lo! He's only 10! Eek! ::Gasp!::

So, technically there is only like a 4-5 year age difference between our heroine and her beau. There are plenty of couples that make that kind of an age gap work. But, when you're 14 years old...that ,might as well be a decade. While at times, Kanade can come off as being rather "grown up", the reminder that he's still a kid is constantly thrown at us. It doesn't help that Kaho is depicted as being very demure and lolita-esque at times. I know it was an artistic choice to flip them in such a way, but...it really isn't plausible.

We continue down the path of Conventional Plotline with the fact that at least two of the other male boarders are in love with her. One in a Hopeless Romantic way, the other in a "I'm mean to girls I like" way (and he's a college student --he could totally know better...). So we've got the Average Girl Finds a Reverse Harem thing going on to.

Over all, if I can just ignore the problematic areas of the story, it's not terrible. The art is great to look at it. It is only 8 volumes total, so really not a major loss of time to read the whole thing, but apparently finding them could prove problematic. Not a huge loss if I don't come across them either!

A bizarre premise. A very wealthy 15-year-old girl leaves her sheltered home to live in a boarding house and attend high school. There she falls in love at first sight with her landlord's son, in a cliche save-her-from-speeding-truck meet-cute. The boy is cool and appears older than her, but she soon learns he's actually only 11 years old.

This is the kind of story that only works in manga, but even with illustrations that make him look 16 (and her about 13), I just couldn't buy into it. And the plotting is cliched--it's one of those series where every male character is inexplicably and immediately in love with the heroine. There are references that indicate everyone thinks the boy looks like a high school student, but no explanation about why. There's also a weird dynamic in that he lost his mother, and seems to be projecting on the heroine; she has self-esteem issues and feelings of romantic love for him (though, again, it's not clear why). I read the first 3 volumes of the series out of curiosity, but ultimately, the premise was just too off-putting for me to enjoy it.

A fun series that should not be taken to serious XD

This story is very bizarre. Even though it has funny parts, the pedophile aspect of this is just too much. Also I agree with other reviewers saying the if the gender had been reversed.

Art was gorgeous but I just couldn't get into the story.
The main female character falls in love with a handsome boy and the boy turns out to be a whole lot younger than her. Bleh.

This is just really gross. A high school girl (16 yo) is dating an elementary age kid (8yo). I read this through twice just because I was so confused.

Save yourself and don’t read it.

Don't read this. I actually complained to the library - only time I've ever done that, and there's some dicey manga out there. Fuck knows what Yen Press was thinking.

~3/5

I really have no idea how to feel about this book.

I went in wary, with the age difference problem. But I was hopeful that either it wouldn’t make me uncomfortable or it would be twisted in a different way. But it… didn’t, and it wasn’t. I was even trying to rationalize and relate it to MeruPuri, but that series pulled it off perfectly. This one didn’t.

Kaho is saved by a boy, Kanade, who looks like he could be eighteen, only to turn out that he’s in fifth grade. She confesses her love before she knows this, and is then suckered into being his girlfriend. She’s just moved into a new building, and the rest of her housemates are similarly odd—with a somewhat sadistic girl, her boyfriend who’s obsessed with cute girls, a super shy boy who hides his face, and an older boy who is a bit of jerk.

I tried not being uncomfortable, but Kanade is in fifth grade. And he acts like he’s in fifth grade, even if he doesn’t look it. And the fact that Kaho blushed and freaked out over him, even with her low self-esteem, bothered me. Then there’s Taga, who misleads Kaho only to try to force himself on her. The whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way. Plus, I didn’t even like Kaho to begin with.

The only good parts of the book were the other side characters. The side couple were quite entertaining and I thought they were cute; the shy boy seems like a sweetheart, and maybe even a good fit for Kaho. The art was pretty.

I don’t know if I’m going to continue this series. I was being hopeful about it, but I might just be uncomfortable enough to stop.

This is a sweet story with endearing characters, but a predictable plot. The mangaka certainly doesn't lack talent as an artist, but the main female lead Kaho Nikaidou is extremely annoying. She looks like a five-year-old and acts just as foolish most of the time. I realize this manga was created with a younger audience in mind, but how young are we talking. I understand Kaho has led a sheltered and pampered life, but still most teens at the age of fifteen are not as gullible and immature as she is. Her fifth grader boyfriend has more smarts. I can't say I love this one or hate it, but I sure as hell wonder how the series will progress with a wishy-washy dull-witted lead.

Not quite as good as I was hoping but still had a lot of squee-worthy moments, and the boys are completely adorable. The characters and vibe reminded me A LOT of Inu x Boku SS, minus the paranormal elements (although a 5th-grader that big feels a bit magical). Will definitely be reading Volume 2 - curious to see where this goes.

This just wasn't my kind of manga. I picked it up because I liked the art style and when I read the summary for it I was expecting there to be a bigger plot twist. I didn't actually expect her boyfriend to be in 5th grade and actually young enough to be in 5th grade. It just wasn't what I expected, there may be more to it later on but it just isn't really for me.
