About the author

Chris (Christine) Beasley is an Australian researcher whose interdisciplinary work crosses the fields of social and political theory, gender and sexuality studies and cultural studies.

Dr Chris Beasley is Emerita Professor in Politics. Dr Beasley is founder and past Co-Director of the Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender at the University of Adelaide.

Her main teaching areas are social and political theory, gender and sexuality studies, and cultural politics. She has been previously been located in Sociology, Women's Studies, Aboriginal Studies and Education.

Her books include Heterosexuality in Theory and Practice (with Heather Brook and Mary Holmes, Routledge, 2012), Engaging with Carol Bacchi (edited with Angelique Bletsas, University of Adelaide Press, 2012), Gender & Sexuality: Critical Theories, Critical Thinkers (Sage, 2005), What is Feminism? (Sage, 1999) and Sexual Economyths (Allen & Unwin, 1994).

Her most recent book is titled 'The Cultural Politics of Popular Film: Power, Culture and Society' (with Heather Brook, Manchester UP). She is currently writing another book, 'Internet Dating' (with Mary Holmes, Routledge).

Dr Beasley is also engaged in several research projects, including embodied ethics and revaluing care, innovations in heterosexuality, hetero-masculinity and intimacy, and gender and social change. .

ممکنه فردی در نگاه اول بخاطر اسم و حجم «درآمدی بر نظریه فمینیستی چیستی فمینیسم» این کتاب رو برای شروع در حوزه مطالعات زنان انتخاب کنه که به نظرم انتخاب خوبی می‌تونه نباشه.
ترجمه کتاب در فضول اولیه بسیار سنگینه که درکش برای من سخته که چرا باید از چنین کلمات ثقیلی استفاده شه!؟
همین مورد می‌تونه باعث فراری کردن خواننده بشه و این فکر رو به وجود بیاره که باقی کتب این حوزه رو هم ممکنه درک نکنه.
در ادامه ترجمه خوب می‌شه؛ ولی باز هم برای خواننده‌ی تازه وارد به این حوزه مناسب نیست مگه این که فلسفه یا علوم اجتماعی خونده باشه تا مطالب رو به خوبی متوجه شه.
برای من بخش تقسیم‌بندی فمینیسم تو فصول اولیه جالب توجه و جدید بود. همینطور توضیحی و اشاراتی که به انواع فمینیسم؛ مثل فرانسوی داشت. این نوع از اشاره‌ها رو تو کمتر کتابی دیده بودم.
در کل مترجم می‌تونست کتاب رو خیلی راحت‌تر و نویسنده به مطالب ساده‌تری با توجه به مقدمه‌ کتاب، اشاره کنه.
پیشنهاد این کتاب رو به تازه‌واردان حوزه زنان نمی‌کنم.

کتاب مفیدیه خصوصا که رویکرد توصیفی داره و سعی می‌کنه بدون داوری توضیح بده.

اگرچه درکل برای درک و دریافت فمینیسم خوب بود، ولی ترجمه متاسفانه خیلی خیلی بد بود و مترجم خیلی غیرحرفه ای فکر کرده بود هرچقدر از کلمات و جمله بندی های ثقیل و عجیب غریب استفاده کنه مترجم بهتر و بادانش تری بنظر میرسه
قبل از خرید کتاب نظرات زیادی رو درمورد ترجمه بد این کتاب خوندم ولی فکر نمیکردم که اینقدر اذیت کنه
ضمن اینکه کیفیت چاپ و صحافی خیلی بد بود، کتاب 150 صغحه ای توی یک هفته مطالعه تو خونه ورق ورق شد و هرجایی از کتاب که محکم انگشت کشیده میشد جوهر پس میداد!
