ABSOLUTE MUST READ. For everyone, but especially for anyone who has known and loved someone who struggles with alcohol or who has alcohol abuse in their family history.

And also for anyone who is involved with alcoholic treatment in any capacity. It completely changed how I think and my heart breaks for everyone impacted by alcohol who isn't getting the information in this book - because it changes everything. Read it.

While I was never an alcoholic, my grandad was(I was told), and I understood why the first time I had a drink. I thought "this was what normal people felt like", though it was most likely super normal. This book helped me understand (some of?) the biological underpinnings of that feeling, and helped me avoid future problems through improved diet and supplementation.

Decent book. The author does a good job explaining why Alcohol problems are not just a issue of will-power. As so many problems with our bodies, Larson makes a accurate, quality, case for proper nutrition.

The problems I have with the book is that her success rate claims are weak. The groups are small, and their duration of success is not complete.

The advice is good, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good way to help their alcoholism.

Note: I am not a alcoholic, and almost never drink.

I couldn't get past the multiple shameless plugs for Health Recovery Center or her proprietary blend of vitamins and minerals. Reads like an advertisement.

Very informative. I appreciated that she looks at it from a physical standpoint. This book was very helpful.

This book has chapters on what vitamins and minerals are helpful for depression and other conditions to use to treat the system in support for rebuilding the cells, while pointing out triggers that are causative. I believe in minerals, vitamins, amino acids and the products Dr. Larson identifies. Her followup books include other conditions used to benefit the health for many conditions.

Good read!
