Love is as love does

Normally I would not buy anything that is abridged. However, I have several copies and translations of this epic. I would not buy a secondary paraphrase of the epic, as it is too important to the telling of the message(s). This picture book is worth looking at. The back cover describes "Ramayana as 'Rama's Travels'.

This work is divided into the established six books and tells the tail in a smooth manner so that you would not know what is missing. There are charts and tables to help you know who the players are and lots of colorful pictures. There is very little distraction of someone trying to tell you what you are reading. Ranchor Prime distributes many books of similar quality.

It was a good introduction to the Ramayana, and easy to follow. To get the whole story in in under 100 pages must have been quite a task! It's the story of Rama and Sita, their love for each other and love for duty itself. A beautiful story, really, and written for all ages and levels of awareness of the characters.

The best written and illustrated edition of the Ramayana I have seen thus far. The English is poetic, clear, and captures the story well, and the illustrations and book art are stunning-- they are ancient traditional paintings collected from museums around the world and serve the story well with their sophistication, grace and colour.
