I am feeling a little generous today.

The premise is very cute. Humpty Dumpty, as a kid, well aware that he must be careful for fear of falling and shattering. His juxtaposition? A young reluctant king who is not that social. Nor to give the story away, but it starts off well. Sadly, it loses something along the way. Nonetheless, a young reader or listener, should be well entertained.

This book is a good read for students in PreK through 1st grade.

Humpty Dumpty is a nursery rhyme about an egg that falls off a wall and no one is able to put him back together. In this story, Humpty Dumpty climbs as high as he can to get the best seat to see King Moe. When he falls off the wall, King Moe might know just what to do to fix him.

This nursery rhyme is loved by many young children, and I think this book is a great version of the story. It was a little different from the classical rhyme, and puts a spin on the ending. I think children will enjoy listening to the rhyming flow, and colorful illustrations on each page.

This is a good book to introduce children to rhyming words. The teacher could present a word from the story to the students, and ask them to come up with words on their own that rhyme. Older or more advanced students could get their own copy or version of the humpty dumpty nursery rhyme, and circle rhyming words.

1) Awards: None from what I looked up.

2) Appropriate Grade: K-2nd

3) Summary: Humpty Dumpty is an egg that was on a mission throughout this story. He wanted to get the best seat possible for King Moe's birthday parade. This lead to him climbing really high up for the best view.

4) Review: While watching young King Moe's birthday parade, Humpty Dumpty falls and breaks into little pieces. Fortunately, the king was able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again and were friends. Great story with lessons to be taught to the students.

5) Possible in class: I would work with the students on creating a story chart where they have to identify the main character, the setting, the narrator, and the lesson.

3. Humpty Dumpty is introduced as a personified egg that is trying to get the best seat to view a parade. Humpty then falls off the wall and breaks into a bunch of pieces and everyone tries to put him together again.
4. I really enjoyed the author's portrayal of this nursery rhyme. I think that the illustrations and overall rhythm of this story are very engaging for children and would be great to use in the classroom.
5. The main use of this book in the classroom that I could think of is using it is to teach rhyming skills. This book has plenty of rhyming in it so perhaps the class could read it together and then work in groups to pick out the rhyming words. This skill also is helping with both the children's phonemic and phonological awareness.

3. Humpty Dumpty is a boy who is an egg, and he needs to be careful or he will break. King Moe is a scared boy who doesn’t want to leave the castle for his birthday parade. In a dashing scenario, the two become great friends and learn from one another.
4. I think this story is a great play on the original nursery rhyme. It speaks to how kids are different, some are outgoing while others are more introverted, but they are still able to be friends.
5. Lesson on friendships.

Cute story about conquering your fears and making new friends. I liked that even though Humpty was fragile and impatient, he was very brave and daring. And even though baby King Moe was rich and powerful, he was afraid, but also very smart and patient. Good lesson for kids that everyone has different skills, no matter where they come from or who they are.

Humpty Dumpty
This book is about an egg that is on a mission to get the best spot in the house for the Kings birthday parade. But when he fell from the wall no one was able to put im back together. I recommend this book to younger children because they could see the rumor out of it and the seriousness in the situation. This book can help children recognize rhyming words.

A really fun twist to Humpty Dumpty and great for classroom community building! We used this to discuss character traits and relationships between other characters. I would recommend it in classrooms, because it is a twist for students that they are not expecting from the traditional tale.

Humpty Dumpty by Daniel Kirk is about an egg named Humpty Dumpty who is on a mission to get the best seat in the house for King Moe's birthday parade, no matter how high he has to climb. Timid King Moe also has a mission: to hide from the parade's jugglers, clowns and onlookers. King Moe is appalled when that egg falls through the roof of his carriage and falls to pieces. All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty together again. There is a song that goes like this:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

I enjoyed this book because of the colorful illustrations that really bring the pages to life. Also Humpty Dumpty is a classic nursery rhyme and the song is catchy. I read this to a class at my job and we put hand movements and body movements to the song and it was just overall a really great time reading this to the kids.

This is good for grades k-2. It can be used in the classroom as a read aloud book. The teacher can ask what the students think will happen next, what is being shown on the page and have the students narrate it instead of reading the words. The song can be used to introduce rhyming. The students can pick out what words they think rhyme, or the teacher can say to words and ask the students if they think they rhyme or not. If the teacher wanted to do something at the student's desks then the students could draw their own Humpty Dumpty and write how he/she would try to put Humpty together again.

I am not too familiar with folktales, however I think this one is pretty similar to the original. I like how in the end the king and humpty dumpty became friends.

Humpty Dumpty is an English nursery rhyme, which is why it is in the traditional literature category. In the story, Humpty Dumpty is an egg that is sitting on a wall. He falls off and breaks into pieces, and is unable to be put back together again.

The mentor writing traits in this story are word choice and sentence fluency. First, the story is a rhyme, so the words that the author chooses are rhyming words. Next, the rhyme has a cadence about it which is why it is also an example of sentence fluency.

This story could be an example for students on rhyming and having a rhythm in their sentences. After reading the story, the teacher could tell the students it is their turn to come up with a nursery rhyme. Kids could brainstorm a character and write a little poem that rhymes and that could be spoken with rhythm.

This story tells the classic tale of Humpty Dumpty falling off of the wall and breaking into pieces, but adds a twist when you find out that the King is exceptionally talented at completing puzzles and might be able to save the day to put him back together. I loved this book because it was a twist on a traditional story that I grew up with. This could be connected to the curriculum through comparing it to the traditional story and contrasting the two, helping students to see how to use venn diagrams and maybe even write their own endings to other traditional stories. The pictures in this are great and simplistic but also modern. The genre is a children's nursery rhyme intended for children in kindergarten through second grade.

"Humpty Dumpty" is a poem written by Daniel Kirk. The story is about the classic Humpty Dumpty tale with a twist at the end. This book has a lot of rhyming and is fun to read aloud. This could be used in the classroom for many different reasons. One reason could be for dun enjoyment. Another reason could be to compare and contrast the original Humpty Dumpty to this version. I would recommend this book for students in Kindergarten and up. It contains colorful pictures that will attract student's attention. It is a spin-off from the original Humpty Dumpty with an alternate ending. It could show students that there are similar stories with different endings. Also, it could teach them on how to write their own stories.

Humpty Dumpty was bored of staying home. Humpty begged his mom to go to the King's birthday parade. His mother tells him to be careful so he doesn't break. Humpty told his mother he will be careful. The King does not want to go to the parade. He is too afraid to go out in front of all the people. Humpty is wanting to get a better look of the parade. He climbs a wall. Humpty fell off the wall into the carriage of the King. Humpty cracks open. All the King's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty back together again. The king's mother asks him to try to put him back together like a puzzle. The King is able to put him back together. Humpty and the King become friends.

one of my favorites as a teacher and now one of olivia's favorites too. in this story, we get some background as to why humpty was on that wall and also an alternate ending with a new friendship. i like exploring familiar characters in new versions. both olivia and katelyn enjoy pointing out the unusual characters that make up the crowds in the pictures.
