Oh, qué buen libro!! Es LA BIBLIA del perito Balístico. Di Maio es el pionero en determinar que un arma no puede dispararse con la mano izquierda con el agujero de entrada del lado derecho, algo ilógico.

If you happen upon a copy of this in your company's office library as I did, do not hesitate to steal it. (NOTE- they were throwing it out anyway, so I grabbed it)

There's a lot of good information in this book, but unfortunately I found it wasn't presented well. For instance, in the chapter on determining suicides, the author segued into a discussion of homicides. Often, material was repeated such that the degree of redundancy made me wonder if the author was trying to pad the word count or had simply forgotten that he'd already discussed the material. Some of the firearms information was inaccurate. (Although "autoloading" is a better term for all firearms that are designed to do so, "semiautomatic" is the preferred term for all of them which only fire a single round for each press of the trigger, given fully-automatic firearms are also autoloading, for instance.)

With a reorganization of the material presented, it would be much more concise and need not be repetitive in what's being presented. Also, there are a number of editing and proofing errors that need correcting.

The prose is a bit dry and technical in places; yet still a grand reference for the physical process of gunshot wounds; what happens to the human body, the evidence that is left and the methodology of measuring forensic evidence related to gunshot wounds. I thought it was a very interesting technical source.

This book is a spectacular reference book that I used when working as a homicide detective. The information it contains is invaluable for every detective working with investigations involving gunshot wounds.

This is a great textbook to autopsy of gunshot wounds. Basically it is about classifications of wounds, but it contains decent introduction to firearms and describes a lot of common and exotic ammunition (which is an unexpected bonus!).
