Anaya was one of the girls presented at the Offering to the males as a potential bride. But instead of getting a future husband (not that she had high hopes about that), Anaya was selected for the king's Royal Harem. But first she has to be sent to training with the four Saint John brothers.

So, I don't know about you, but when I read that a girl is going to be tutored how to serve in the harem and all the ways to pleasure the king, it's not the dancing lessons that immediately come to mind. But that exactly what it was. I mean, there were some (empathize on some) sexual lessons, but not to the extent I expected. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, it's just wasn't really believable. Or maybe it was completely normal and I just need to start getting my mind out of the gutter from time to time. Who knows?
Anyways. The King was kind of a dick, but then it would have been a whole different story if he was the nice guy, right? And I totally understand Anaya's reluctance to join his harem, especially taking into account that she's innocent.
But the brothers? I liked them as a characters (though it would have been great to get to know them better), but I did not feel the connection between them. Especially the one that would be strong enough for them all to go against their kind. There was, like, a possibility for that connection in the future, if they got to know each other better. But we were shown just some snippets of the brothers' interacting with Anaya and all they seemed to feel toward each other was lust. In one more hundred pages maybe?
As it is, I did not believe their feelings. I wanted to give the book two stars, but I liked Anaya's determination at the end and how she finally took matters into her own hands (not that it turned out the way she predicted, but still).

At first I was kind of skeptical of this book, only because I've read a couple of reverse harem... but not one about lions. Anaya's pride was really good! So Anaya goes to this party, where all the people of age are shown so that they can ya know mate. She's completely awkward and relatable because hey I can't dance either and I would die if I had to in a room full of people (plus the king and queen are there). So the king is completely amused and bewildered by Anaya and picks her out of all the girls in the room to join his harem. She then goes to a house where she will be taught things by four tutors, who happen to be brothers, before the king comes to pick her up and take her home. So like any normal person, she starts developing feelings and friendships between these four guys. One day the king comes to visit, without telling any of the guys, and Anaya is not getting a good vibe from him. At this point I am thrilled! BECAUSE you learn about how girls in the kings harem have been dying or being killed off...so you would like to think that the main character would actually use her brain and ya know not go to the kings harem. THANKFULLY she doesn't and the book sadly ends with the guys and her about to leave the tutor house. Yes I am sad, because I wanted more...like where did they go? Does the king find out? What happens if he does or doesn't? What happens to anyone else living in that house?

So I have been getting into RH books recently with mixed success. I read a wonderful book, A Skye Faden Novel, that was amazing. It made me want more, and perhaps ton of other people because this sub-genre has been popping up in my Kindle Unlimited suggestions a ton recently. But not all of them are great, this one for example is so so.

Paranormal books are great for this type of premise because you can explain away society pressure on magic, etc. But, you can tell some authors are still projecting current gender roles on their characters. Something that really stuck with me was near the end of this short novel, the main character does something in secret and her men then scold her about lack of communicating. Like, seriously? They keep secrets from her all the time! They constantly hold back information, are technically her teachers (thus creating a power dynamic they are more than happy to use) and then they have the nerve to say "tsk, tsk. If you would have told us your plan we would have told you we've already been discussing it among ourselves for weeks, kept it from you, and were going to tell you a hour before we put our plan into motion without any of your input despite it directly affecting your life. How dare you try to solve a problem your own way without us". I seriously rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe it! And she just takes it, apologizes and has some internal monologue telling herself off, that they are great guys, yay! Come on.

Overall, I liked the shifter world, there are some interesting aspects of the story that may make me get the second book to see what happens but I am no means super excited about it. There was just a bad taste in my mouth and the original harem problem (the man with tons of wives) seemed crazy exploitative, and the story didn't progress enough in the first book to get me to root for our heroes, they just lived in the messed up world just fine the whole book. I could see this as the beginning of a longer book, where you have space and time to develop a backstory to your tale but these are short, serial types and it is choppy and I fall out of the story.

Love lion shifters and this book is a great one! Anaya is a "Ceremonly" where the royal men of the kingdom pick out their mate to help grow their numbers. She knows she's not like the other women and is surprised when she's picked to be part of the king's harem. Before she can join she has to be tutored by the Saint John brothers but she doesn't want the king, she wants the brothers.

The author gives another great story with characters full of emotion and lots of heat! The brothers are all different and bring out different parts of Anaya, they all just work together. The secondary characters who work at the Saint John house are fun to read. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book!

Loved it.

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did I couldn't put it down. It's full of angst, turmoil and romance. I can't wait to see what happens next in Anaya's tale.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I feel this book did not live up to its potential. The "feelings" developed far too quickly and were not believable. There was very little time spent between the characters so I really did not like that. It could have been much better if some actual training did actually occur and then feelings were developed that way.

I also did not like Anaya very much at all. She really was a spoiled brat. She was not very intelligent and far too naive, not in a redeeming way.

All this being said, I do like the story itself and I am just intrigued enough to continue the series.

Very odd scenario, the Hs are to prepare the h to be the King's concubine, with lots of sexual play but no culmination. She is young, scared and the King often overlooks his harem, but for some reason he has picked her out. It is very naïve and childish, at odds with the story line. Just OK.

I will be honest, I went into Anaya's Pride with reservations. I love the Reverse Harem genre, however the idea behind this one bothered me. The book is set in the shifter world, concentrating specifically on Lion Shifters. Years ago they suffered a great sickness that wiped out large numbers of their population, especially females. Today there is an emphasis on rebuilding their numbers. As each female reaches maturity she is brought for the choosing. Those of royal blood are allowed to choose 2 females and the King has his Queen plus a large harem. Anaya catches the eye of the king. This comes as a surprise to her since she's not your typical lioness. Where a normal female is blond and slim, graceful and obedient, Anaya has vibrant auburn hair, curves, and a bit of sass. Once chosen she is sent to the 4 Saint John brothers. They will teach her all she needs to know to please the king. This is what set off my ICK Factor. I realize that this practice has actually occurred in many cultures throughout history, but a book based on teaching a woman how to be a man's play thing didn't appeal to me. However, the RH factor won out. I'm glad I read it.

Anaya and the Saint John brothers are wonderful characters. She's such a blend of innocence and fire. The guys are almost scary with their intensity and male beauty. Their obvious attraction and gentleness with Anaya went a long way winning me over as well. Still it's hard for me to forget their careers. If Anaya can keep her insecurities and jealous in control, then she's a better woman than I am. The side characters, Cook and the maids were also lovely and the King and Queen added another dynamic to the story. I appreciate the attention given to the cast of characters.

The story was compelling and played out in a way that made me definitely want to read the next book. Can easily recommend.

DNF 50%. I found the heroine too annoying. For someone who grew up inexperienced and duty-bound (so much so that she rather die that not find a mate), she sure didn’t act like it once she was chosen.

“Don’t go beyond the boundary line and wear this sash so you are protected.” So of course what happens? Up she gets “distracted” and manages to cross both the line and lose her sash so of course something predictably bad will happen and one of the guys will predictably save her.

“I just needed air, I just needed freedom, I felt cooped up.” Really? You’ve been there like 3 days and with such high stakes at play on belonging to the king (which suddenly she finds offensive), I would think you would be more mature about the matter and more aware that your actions have consequences. Or did you not grow up as a hard working farmer?

Ug I just found myself starting to skim, and was asking myself, “what’s the point?” We know in the end she/they will find a way to be together and she won’t be in the kings harem. We know they will all fall in love, I mean lust with each other and this inexplicable pull will be some sort of true mating bond. We know the guys will no longer act like they have with every other woman that has been through their house and all their professionalism will go out the window. We know the heroine will have this doe-eyed curiosity about all these things she is feeling and reading and being taught but will just be a slave to those feelings, Ug makes me want to puke.

Gave it 2 stars though bc I did get further than other books in hopes of more character development with the guys

I have to say that I just finished reading many feminist articles and this book seriously pushed a button. I get that it was the society's way to subjugate their women and treat them as inferior breeders, but the heroes (i.e. Saint John brothers) were supposed to be better than the rest. However, their roles as the ‘tutors’ to the King’s harem puts them in a position that perpetuates the status quo.

One of the brothers brought up the idea that they were “doing good” because at least they prepare the girls for the harem so that they are not walking in blind – and of course, all the women who are trained by the brothers end up falling in love with them because they are SO attractive (WTF).

But, the brothers are basically teaching these women how to please the king and welcome his advances even if they don’t find him attractive – as they are his right. So the brothers are basically championing suppression of women and disguising rape; because the king (nor the brothers) don’t actually have the consent of these women.

It’s just the done thing in their society to submit to their ‘master’. Also, the heroine was just SO GODDAMN STUPID!!!! She faints after one of the brothers talks about sex … TALKS. And then is just a complete moron who of course falls for all the brothers despite NO emotional connections … literally it’s only sexual tension.

Ya, so I definitely did not read the second book.

I love this story! Four! Count them one, two, three, four gorgeous men to teach the art of love making (and some other stuff) Anaya had no idea she'd be picked at the ball by any male lion. Certainly not for the King's Harem.

Innocent virgins aren't prepared for the attentions of men like these. Women in this kingdom were under the complete control of the men in their lives and ultimately the king. She had no idea about sex, relationships, only that she hated the control on the women around her by those men.

The brothers were used to teaching lovely females. They were not used to females like Anaya. Feisty, open to everything, curvy loveliness, and a personality that set her apart. Each brother had an individual personality yet similarities to his brothers. --Each man fell hard for her sweetness--How could they let her go?

Anaya was strong in her innocence. Watching her blossom and bring out each man made this reading the best of PNR. Ms. Cole has always been one of my favorite authors and this is just another example why. Don't miss out on this one. I can't wait to find out more about the five and what their futures hold.
A six star recommend from me. (I know we can only give five stars, but this one really deserves more)

Anaya is not a typical lioness. She is auburn haired, grey eyed and curvy. A stark contrast to her younger sister, Iris, who is thin, blond, blue eyes and graceful. That she attracted the attention of the King of Ironhaven, leaves her in disbelief. It is a great honor to be chosen by him for his harem. She is sent to the StJohn brothers, tutors assigned to educate the women in the Kings harem, from how to act at court, in the harem and how to please the King. Anaya is a country girl, no stranger to hard work, and she is determined to do her best. She is falling for the brothers. The more time she spends with them the she know she can never give her self to the King. Then there are the rumors, surrounding the King and his harem, and they aren't good. So she runs. Much to her surprise the brothers follow and not to bring her back.
Story ends in a Cliffhanger, which I am not a fan of. Has a Regency Romance Flair, which I enjoyed. I read a lot of those as a tween. Fun, fast paced and steamy. Really liked Anaya, and the StJohn brothers.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I bought a copy of the books 1 and 2 set.

I read a great RH book quite a few months ago and just loved it, and since I have been trying some other RH series and came across this one on Kindle Unlimited and thought why not. Anaya's Pride wasn't the best of the RH sub-genre, but this is an okay start, we follow Anaya as she picked to become part of the Kings harem. I loved that it was set in a world where harem's are seen as almost a norm, in quite a few of the RH I have read the main characters are the only relationships which have more that two people in, and it just makes it slightly less believable. Before Anaya can join the Kings harem though she has to go through lessons with the Saint John brothers. I have mixed opinions of these brothers, it took me a while to identify their different personalities, and by even by the end of the book they still felt a bit flat to me.

Anaya's Pride is a interesting start to a Reverse Harem series, although I love the world in which this romance is set, it needs more character development and world building to help keep me hooked and make this a fully immersive novel.

I have to say i was a bit hesitant at the beginning with this book but now i can tell you that you don't be and i regreted being.
Its fast paced and mesmerizing a true page turner!
Fun characters, sexy characters and a plot to keep your interest and keep you seating on your chair reading non stop.

It’s a different type of shifter RH story that I’ve ever read but good.
It’s set in medieval times and there had been a plague that mostly only effected the female lion shifters killing then. (For some reason they destroyed most books back then because I guess they were hard to clean and thought they could carry germs). I’m wondering if they were actually distorting their actual history & maybe females use to play a different role, not as submissive.

There’s a king who has Queen and large harem and that’s where are female protagonists comes into the story. As she hit the age of majority she had to be presented to the king & other royals and she was selected for the royal harem.

Before being sent off to the king though she was sent to live with 4 stunning brothers who were to be her instructors in dance, decorum & pleasure.

Things get complicated as they all start to fall for her and she for them. Their relationship is very organic and sweet. This book ends on a cliffhanger but it’s going well!

Not as normal Chloe Cole book

This was an okay book. It doesn't have the adventure and suspense as other books I've read by Chloe. Maybe it is because it is only book one. Anaya seemed too much like a spoiled brat to me even though she was supposedly from a farm. She wasn't greedy after money or anything like that. It just seemed like she wanted her way in everything no matter the consequences. I'm hoping that she grows up in the next book.
There was also not a lot of forward progression. It went from the King's meeting for mates to the house of the tutors. There at the house was a lot of flirting around and finding out about the chemistry between her and the brothers but not much of substance to add to the story. This is just my opinion, but I will go a head a give the second book a chance. Hopefully it will reel me in with some action and adventure.

I really liked this book (finally a good book it's been a while), the storyline was inresting(revers harem and shifters hell yeah 😤) and the characters were charming and engaging (well besides the sleazy King and tight ass dad but even they were interesting characters). I also enjoyed the the author's writing style and the way she portrayed Anaya(she was a very likeable character unlike some heroines). As well as the fact all 4 of the brother's could be main characters in there own right it's just awesome to see them all in one great story😊. The only Thing that would make the book even better to me was if the brother's all had points of views so I could read what they were thinking and feeling more. Heres hoping I love the second book as much 😆.

This was a nice and easy read, it was full of great characters and had a pretty gripping storyline for being so short.

The main character is Anaya a girl in this book who is chosen to be a part of the Kings Harem of girls, but first she must go to get trained in how she can please the king. Falling in love with her teachers however wasn't part of the plan, and when the king moves up the schedule she finds she has even less time with them than she thought.

The most noteworthy secondary characters are the brothers who she goes to train with, who are fall for her in their own way.

The storyline is not the most original but it is very easy to read and the pacing is actually gripping despite there being not much substance.

Honestly.....good book. The plot wasn't that thick. The relationship was nice. Tho the MC is kinda bland, idk why. Would've liked more scenes w Michael especially after the fighting one and the Connor massage scene.
The Lucian scene i feel like didn't have any build up. The only guy that actually did shit was Gatlin. The others were just......there.

Ngl this book kinda reminds me of the curse of gods series except i like that one better. What with the one poor I'm-not-like-other-girls girl thrust into a bunch of men who are rich or maybe I'm just imagining it...idk..

Hate Sebastien. Love Hattie and cook. The shifter aspect i think was not brought out much. Only when the marauder attacked her( Harry Potter anyone?)

Also the way she just fell for them in....I'm assuming less than five weeks......kinda not reasonable.

Quite a short book so if you're looking for a quick rh read. Would recommend.
K imma go read the next book now..

Did you feel that? That was your panties melting off from the sexual tension coming off this book! Wowzer! In some ways, this book was like a train wreck. You know that the end is coming, that the king has made his claim, hearts will be broken, but you can't stop reading! I tried to stop because I could not bear for anymore knowing what was to come but alas I finished the book and was finally able to cheer. That's all the teasing I can give right now without ruining it, but this RH is unique with being shifter and royalty and feeling like it is the 16th century. What more can I say but Hot Hot Hoottttt!

I really enjoyed this book, the storyline is different to anything else i have read. The story flowed beautifully and was intriguing and exciting. After reading the blurb I was worried it was all going to be sexual but actually I was pleasantly surprised

The characters are great. Anaya is a gentle female but she has a backbone, and she is not a skinny traditional beauty. The four brothers are all different in their own way, I love all the guys not have a real soft spot for Michael.

Overall I found this to be a great book and I have book two lined up and ready to go

This was great!! Can’t wait to read what’s next for these lion shifters!!

In this book, Anaya is at the age she must go to a ceremony to be chosen. She is quite shocked to be chosen by the king himself and even in even more anticipation about going to learn from the brothers who train the women selected to be part of the kings harem. Will the training be enough to prepare her for life at the castle - or will she become too attached to the four brothers tasked with getting her ready for the king?? Guess you have to read the book if you want to know! No spoilers from me!!

After having a few wines, I stumbled upon the Beasts of Ironhaven series.
I enjoyed this book and the world that was built.
It was light and entertaining however I quickly realised it was an instalove story between Anaya and the four St. John brothers.

The book could have been longer and added more detail/scenes to build up the relationships between the MFC and the men however there is only just one event between MFC and each man before she decides she loves them and tries to run away.
Everything just seems too easy.

Teaser Tell The Very End

I chose this book because it showed up on my Facebook and honestly I wanted to know how one woman could handle four men.

This book didn't go the way I expected it too. The story was actually interesting to me, and the fact that Cole could create such intimacy and struggle that the maim character and the brothers developed together. It was a good book and I enjoyed it.

This is a serial and ends on a cliffhanger

Cliffhangers automatically put a book and an author on the do not buy again list for me, unlessit is clearly stated in the description.

Anaya's pride was well paced and I was so interested inhow it was going to end that when it abruptly ended without a conclusion I decided that I didn't care what happened.

Okay. I liked the main concept of this book. I sort of liked the characters, who amused me and vernally made me smile. But I'm very over the story altogether. It was a nice romance, and I liked the main character okay. I did just finish the second one, which was also okay. But in general, this book didn't overwhelm me, although I liked it enough to read book two.

Cliffhanger alert 🚨 it’s not a life or death one, so I didn’t rush to read book 2. The story was a bit different to other shifter books I’ve read recently. But be advices that there is more tension and some 1-1 spicy scenes that never go all the way…. Still I really liked all characters and it was over all fun. Narration was excellent.
