Huang Yi is a Chinese writer of wuxia novels. From the golden ages of wuxia literature to the 90’s, only a few talented wuxia authors such as Wen Ruian are left. Wuxia literature became under attack by the general public and lost its previous aurora. However, the emergence of Huang Yi infused new life into wuxia.
From “Fu Yu Feng Yun” to “Xun Qin Ji” and to the now popular “Da Tang Shuang Xiong Zhuan”, Huang Yi combined science fiction to traditional Chinese culture (metaphysics, philosophy, etc) to create a new style of “science fiction” wuxia. Therefore, China now has a “Flurry of Huang” sweeping through.
After concluding his longest novel, "Da Tang Shuang Xiong Zhuan", Huang Yi commented that he would like to follow the footstep of Jin Yong and revised and improved his released novels.
I am currently translating this into English. This is a monumental piece of fiction spanning 60 "books" or volumes of approximately 12 chapters each. The more I translate of this wuxia epic, the more enthralled I am with the storyline. Definitely worth a read to any inquiring mind.
I read Wuxia translated to Thai for more than 40 years and many other kinds of novel and in my feeling, this one is the best ever.
I have re-read several times even try to order one book in Chinese even my Chinese is not enough to be able to read it.. just want to keep the original...
